@74 Gear, I just screamed out: There is a Manual inside the simulator! You instead try to figure out what happens when just jump into the middle. The autopilot is the same for all type for aircraft here. It's not a bug, it's a feature. And, when you click on elements, you can manually override that strange numbers pre-coded for some reason. So, if you do something, before that, like a cheklist- read the manual. Or you just fly any aircraft without even check it out, what is the stall speed at the situation? If you say no, it's normal. Okay, it's a game. But, your awesome iPad seems useful for runs checklists on real flight, or search up something from QR book quickly. In first, to avoid that laggish control, you have enough, buy an ASUS ROG phone, but compared with your device performance, my Blackview BV7000 pro even runs smoother in "mid" details. The chinese RedMI 9T is half on that way- cheap, but for me, runs on HD without problems. Yep, not on my phone, I just borrowed to try it out. After, you have an device, install that, then enjoy the full detail of phisics here, with HD graphics. Then select one HD airport, to do it from real beginning, from the dock. And because you a real pilot, override such design fails. Remember, is only a game. Even it called simulator. In first, because you buyed PRO version, creating an realist flight plan with your normal device, export as .KML file, then import into the RFS. It is the first, what a real pilot need to do. Then check the flight plan for errors in detail, such incredible speeds, sharp turns, etc. When required, adding much more WP to achieve realistic flight experience. When you not on your belowed iPad, you must find it out, when the game has runs on HD, the phisics of turn also coming closer to reality. Your scene the AP such do the turn like a train, followed the flight plan. On my cheap chinese nothing, the detailed phisics override the flight plan, and became closer to reality. You may need to know, the basic flight engine, in codes, designed to Airbus A340-300. If you have such experience with that type of aircraft, wonder why, find everything in place. The presets of the AP, then the controls, ended up with such phisics. If you "deviated" from that type- such a bummer- needed to configure before you start flying. The AP is so agressive, yes. It's not disconnects automatically, when does something that in real life lead to disconnecting the AP. When AP with speed mode is on, you can change the IAS or TAS of the AP control, touch-and-hold the square "speed", then on the right side, a ruler appears. Use that ruler without lift your finger, to increase, or decrease the number. When you release, the new configuration gets in live (on poor devices, may happens this during setting, when the setting string interrupted by another important code in background). The new settings controls the autothrottle, as required. The flight simulator X is gives you more realistic controls, howewer, not optimised for handheld devices. The RFS controls optimised for that. And, in such the end, you can switch off the HUD. Best wishes: Czink Attila* *the first is the last!

X-Plane is advertised as a realistic simulator that sumulates the real physics. What would you say about it? Did the X-Plane 747 feel like the real one? I mean basic stuff like how the plane responds to control inputs. I played X-Plane 8 (or was it 9?) and my biggest concerns were: 1. The XML files that define plane's handling were too simple. Engine thrust was just 1 number and not something like a torque curve or something like what racing games do for car engines. 2. Top speed didn't match what the actual plane can do. Like F22 Raptor barely reaching 1.3 speeds of sound while the real one can do like double that speed. 3. Braking the sound speed barrier is suppose to take a lot of energy. In X-Plane it was seemless, there wasn't any noticable ditches in acceleration when approaching the speed of sound. This sounds like I already answered my question myself but I don't know maybe fighter jets are so badass they don't really feel that sound barrier. And maybe my F22 wasn't going 2.4 speeds of sound because I did something wrong. Or maybe they messed with supersonic jets but made everything else well.

First, really enjoy the videos. I used to live near KSNA and flew out, as a passenger, almost every week. Runway 2/20 is 5700 ft, shortest of any major airport in the country. I can't recall a 747 EVER landing there, let alone taking off. It is a "Land on the numbers and slam on the brakes" type of airport. 757 is the largest airliner regularly flown in there. The approach you flew is used about 5% of time, only when off shore or "Santa Ana" winds are blowing as is goes over Newport Beach homes. The airport has a 11 PM curfew due to the proximity to homes.

When I was flying PD3 (MSFS Reboot) with the Aerosoft Airbus A320 and FS Crew, You fly it with the AP controls. Super easy. All the way to the landing if you want. Flight sims really help people get acquainted with the gauges and gadgets in the cockpit. Which takes the stress out of first flight in real world. You have to have a yoke and more so, pedals. I flew MSFS from 95. Most of the time without pedals, just a joystick twist control for yaw. And it really hindered me learning to fly, especially Cessnas on landing.

He let me fly the plane after takeoff for most of the hour long trip and complained that I was too focuses on the instruments and not using the windows enough. That's because the graphics on the original FS were crappy and I learned to used the artificial horizon, altimeter, air speed, compass, etc... Hey Kelsey, any chance you could do a flight simulator recreation of the Gimli Glider incident? This involved a new Canada Air 767 that ran out of fuel mid-flight and lost BOTH engines, ala Sully. The pilot tried landing using a glider technique that he called “slipping” (which I believe may be similar to “crabbing”, which you have mentioned in your videos before.). The whole story is absolutely fascinating. I have read that nobody has ever been successfully complete this same landing via simulator. You’re up, Kelsey! Really enjoy your channel and, although not a pilot, aviation in general.

7:05 - about "flaps 15?" I only know that on fighter jets, flaps help better control on lower speed and do help on take-off. For example on non-catapult aircraft carriers (On Su-33 particularly, one of pre take-off checks is flaps) And i dont know if its the same for passenger aircrafts.

Historically, flap levers work in discrete steps with each step being a notch and each reflecting a predetermined configuration. The 747s have notches for 10 degrees of flaps and the next notch is 20s degree of flaps. There is no 15 degree notch and 15 degrees of flaps is not a standard configuration.

I'd never tell anyone, least of all a pilot, that I'm a pilot. Simmer, yes.

The most I tell people is that "technically I'm a pilot". Even then, that gets me into trouble as they make erroneous assumptions and call me a video game loser. Sigh. So I don't blame you for not even mentioning the word "pilot".

The hoodie ..hahaha! Now I can imagine a Dreamlifter navigating the skies and, how the co-pilot really looks like inside that immense marvel of aeronautical engineering. Amazing cool job you are bless to have. You should try to find time for a video for kids inspiring them to be pilots. Now that millions of kids are having classes on-line it will be nice for them. Explaining why they need to know math, attention to detail, wind power, pockets, what happen when the temperatures changes and the planes. An explanation of the curve path while flying. Some kids think that you guys flight in straight lines.

Is there a selection of ATC directions or comments like, "EVA 115 Heavy, what are you DOING??!". That would make the LAX one more lifelike.....
