Why no barrier between the drainage layer and the substrate ? I use common fiberglass screen for the barrier.

Great video! I have a 30gl tall that I’ve been wanting to do a bioactive for a small anole colony. I have seen other guys do a barrier between the drainage layer, and the substrate. Everything from an egg crate false bottom to a simple landscape fabric between. Thoughts on this?

I may have started a revolution. After years of aquariums that use charcoal as part of the filter, I have learned that you need to replace the charcoal (in an aquarium) every month because it absorbs up to the saturation point and then no more. So I asked myself...self no matter how long it takes the charcoal will eventually get to be ineffective. So why use it unless you intend to completely redo your vivarium each year. So I put in a good layer of small rocks with a weed barrier cloth on top. I simply intend to not over water the vivarium. And it's a tropical forest vivarium so the inside of the tank stays moist constantly. Now I just need to learn which plants can live in 90% humidity. I have one of these growing since March so that's 7.5 months with no problems(yet) and I just got a 60 gallon tank for my next one. It's an older/no longer made size tank in these measurements...36" wide by 18" front to back and 21.5" tall.

I just asked my mom this question there’s a lot of plants that can live in the dark and just natural room light and be fine so that’s prob the plants I would go for just make sure they’re safe for ur snake first

They really have no desire to escape they prefer to stay in the soil while they can climb I don’t see them ever doing it

Isn’t manure/fertilised soils really bad for vivariums? I was told only to use organic potting mix and I would think manured soul would grow plants better and healthier. What’s you’re experience on using manured soil (the black cow stuff) with amphibians?

Jacks Fish Tanks so black kow soil is composted cow manure so it’s is just really good quality dirt not manure anymore so it’s awesome in vivariums. I’ve used it for years in mine and I’ve used it for years at the zoo in enclosures there. It’s completely organic

As long as it dechlorinated it's safe for drinks but I us RO water because I have a RO unit already that I use to make water for my aquariums
