some of these you just used scientific names to make them seem weird/rare when they aren't.
@Amita4ever8 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing... not that it made them seem weirder just because the scientific name was used instead, just that it was weird not to use the common name and/or the scientific name for all of them just to be consistent.

This video's a fucking train wreck. You've written the common names for some animals and the scientific names for others. And then for some you've got neither for others (2:50 Isopoda is an order, not a specie name). You also have some species listed twice (glass frogs at 1:34 and 2:15). Also, holy shit--typos everywhere. You need to edit your videos better.
@kevinwebster78689 жыл бұрын
+Cuke Jr. The one listed is simply known as the giant isopod. Just sayin.
@mojave199 жыл бұрын
+Cuke Jr. The use of common then Latin names got to me too, Cuke, but isn't there a nicer way to tell the video maker? You wouldn't talk to him/her to their face that way, would you? There's enough incivility on the www and the rest of the world, so let's make it a friendly place. Thank you, Obvious, for taking the hours to create this video. It was really interesting.

I don't want to sound rude but you have a bunch of these animals misnamed. For example the star nosed mole has a totally different face. That was a regular mole. We catch star nosed moles here in Illinois so I know what they look like. And at least 5 others were misnamed. Peace.

+P.Gallo AllAmericanAngel Misinformation seems to be a triend on KZbin videos. At least he did not have any PhotoShop "giant skeletons". Those drive me crazy.
@TheMagicfish339 жыл бұрын
Your right I should count my blessings. And I hate the badly photo shopped skeletons too. Ugh! And I'm sure you know there used to be some very large people in our past but I think 12 ft was about the top height. Have a good one!
@williambenner55509 жыл бұрын
Yep...I agree. But were are the skeletons?? There seems to be a three way war going on when it comes to the mystery concerning giants and each side have their own agenda.There are those who want to create hoaxes, the scientific communities and the religious people, and I do not only mean Christian. The religious want to embrace ANY evidence that promotes their belief, even if that "evidence" is loaded with half truths speculations and hearsay. Then there are the mainstream scientiis that don't regard ANYTHING that up sets their "applecart" of theories. Each side spins the truth to fit their own needs. That is my opinion anyway, for I been researching this subject for awhile.
@helema239 жыл бұрын
+William Benner actually there have been a few legit giant skeletons and bones found but people tend to try and blow it out of proportion.
@TheMagicfish339 жыл бұрын
+William Benner There are quite a few large skeletons in a museum in Patagonia the Smithsonian has a few but refuses them to the public. And there are about 7 owned by some of the Native American tribes, mostly tribes along the northern most border reservations (those had red hair which I find particularly odd.) And I said before in all of those I don't think any is above 12 ft tall or if they are not much. But those annoying photoshopped skeletons look 40 feet tall! lmao! Whoever is trying to pass those off as real has little understanding of gravity on living creatures. To be honest I'm can't say why they annoy me so much except that maybe even as a joke they aren't any good. And I'm just not an annoyed person, it's not in my nature. Maybe you have a better idea why.... if you do feel free to share.

K. Neff . The axolotl is critically endangered in its natural range, living in less than 10km squared in lake Xochimilco. However, they can be captive bred, which is why they are present in the aquatic trade.

Awesome video, I'm definitely going to look into finding more detailed information on many of the animals shown. I love how you included the video's thumbnail image and explained it. Which has made me want to learn more about the artist, his story, his methodology, and his influences. Many years ago I had a book by a artist depicting exobiological life that is three leg based for the most part. The artwork was arranged as part of a story about the stranded(maybe though it could have been otherwise, the book was lost in a fire long ago) exobiologist. Though some people hate videos like this, for some reason, they allow people to see the vast and strange diversity of life on this planet and it helps to spark a desire for further self directed education.

Why can't you just give the regular name for these animals?
@philipmartin92018 жыл бұрын
Perhaps because the regular names may not be universal but the scientific names are assigned to only one species (barring mistakes). This helps to avoid confusion. The birds described as robins are different in the USA and the UK. For qnother example, I know what a 'Granfer Gravy' is but I'd hazard a guess that that name is not widely known outside a particular locale. In the USA they might call it a pill-bug - in the UK, it's a woodlouse - which actually covers many species in the Armadillidiidae family.

When I was a kid, another kid in our neighborhood showed us a picture of an aye-aye, and it freaked us out. From then on, we developed a "legend" that there was a child-eating aye-aye loose in our neighborhood, and we used that "story" to scare the hell out of ourselves. We even created a hide-and-seek sort of game based on it. Many years later, when I had moved to another city, I discovered that kids in that neighborhood were still playing that game. Never underestimate the power of the aye-aye.
