Nice coins! Gordian III wasn't the last emperor to mint denarii. It was Aurelian afaik

Thanks for the correction! I was thinking Gordian III was the last emperor to produce silver denarii, but turns out even that is incorrect. Philip I produced a few, though seems like they are very rare. And several other emperors produced denarii in bronze or silvered bronze all the way up into the 280s/290s within the tetrarchy.

Back in the early '70s, I was buying, low grade Roman gold at scrap prices. Gold was $35-50 an ounce. Some of those coins were melted when gold hit $800 in 1980-1.I was buying bags of 100 Denari for $300. These were common and ranged from good to vf with majority in fine. Ancients will become more popular as us coins become more expensive.
