This brings back good memories! At 17 in 1970 my first car was a one owner ladies car. '64 500 XL fastback. White over red & red interior. Big bucket seats, console & automatic on floor. 390 4 bbl. We rebuilt the engine, aluminum TRW pistons, 428 CJ "C" cam, Ford aluminum dual four intake, two 600 Holley carbs. Dual point distributor & headers. Installed a beefed C6, it would break the tires loose when it went into 2nd under partial acceleration. Loved the car! My 2nd car was a '65 square back mustang with a factory 289 hipo, but that's another story! Thanks for sharing this video, love that car, & the tear drop scoop! Came factory on T-Bolts & the other bodies with 427 hi risers! Adds to the great looks!❤ Fabulous Fords Forever!❤👍🏁

I remember when these came out as '63'1/2 Fords. That struck me as sort of strange but when I saw the car, I was a believer as the styling of the fastback was a great move on Ford's part. It was big, sexy, and had plenty of room under the hood. I still love the sleekness of the car. I've built several 460's but never one that made that kind of ponies. I'd love to drive that baby.

Quality build right there. Once you go BBF, you never go back. It's far cheaper to build than an FE. It's also MUCH stronger than an FE or BBC. I swapped in a 460 in my 68' Torino and smile like a kid, from the moment I take it out to the moment I back it into the garage.
@Coronet_shop Жыл бұрын
Stronger than a FE are you nuts!!!!? There’s a good amount of folks running two spinny boys, in their Torino’s and galaxies making 800+ hp with ease, they’re still holding up stroker or no stroker.

Back in 1964 my honey and I double dated with her best friend, and her bo owned a 1963 R Code 427 Galaxy. So we’re in the backseat and he’s cruising El Cajon Blvd in San Diego looking for a street race. He got one, a 409 Chevy, and as he banged off the gears in that 427 Galaxy you could feel the torque and hp coming through the floorboard into the backseat…almost as good as, well, you know!

63 Galaxies are sweet rides. I was in Grade 7 when I saw my first one. A convertible that my friends father owned. In those days that was a sweet ride. I like how he’s freaking out about the stock seat belts. Our 1960 Pontiac didn’t have any seat belts.

My dad had a 64 Pontiac Parisienne convertible, white with black interior and roof and his father had a Galaxie 500 convertible in a cream colour with a white interior and roof. The Galaxie was gorgeous and had the 390 engine. Our Pontiac just had a small block. I would say that Danny easily won the bragging rights.

To finish the story installed the engine in my 59 Galaxie with the three speed tyranny and exploded it on the first hard launch....went to another junk yard and got all the rest of the running gear out of another wrecked R code..installed it in my folks carport. Replaced my five spoke mags with original steel wheels, big hubcaps and a set of cheater slicks...352 valvecovers and air cleaner worked with biggest AFB carb you could buy....yes, it was a sleeper and with the column linkage still in place and a leather jacket covering the 4 sp. Shifter left a lot of Chevys wondering what just happened . I drooled over a white 63 1/2 Galaxie fastback with black bench seats, 2,000 miles with an asking price of $2,700 sitting on a used car lot ...way out of my budget at 18 years old.
