Crofton Pumping Station on the Kennet and Avon Canal supplies water to the summit pound about a mile to the west. It contains two steam powered beam engines, an 1812 Boulton and Watt, the oldest working beam engine in the world in its original engine house and still capable of doing the job for which it was installed and an 1846 Harveys of Hale.
Filmed by me in August 2009 (yes - 10 years ago) in the old television format of 4:3, it has been digitally enhanced to the modern 16:9 widescreen format, re-edited and narrative added.
