The great thing about these older bikes is how modern technology can transform a good bike with an average map into an even better bike. On a Track day the FZ-1 would suit most riders. Being a road bike overall is value for money.

Even with a few k on the clock she still sounds good👍 think I still prefer the noise of the CP4 in the MT10. How do you think the two engines compare? I'm thinking the MT10 would have more low to midrange grunt but not much between them higher in the revs??

Yes, the MT-10 Sounds better and has more Low down Grunt and is a better bike overall with ABS, Traction control and Power settings. For someone with a below 10k Australian budget there aren't any MT-10s with a millions klms on the speedo for that type of money. The FZ-1 isn't that far off in performance, braking and Handling and it is better in the dirt if you are searching for out of the way locations due to the longer wheel base. The FZ-1 isn't a wheelie machine. Thanks mate. love to hear from you.

Having had the bike for a year nearly, 56000kls is nothing for a R1 engine. The Track days have been fun and overall if this is around your budget you could do worse. Check out all my video on updates, Woolich custom map and Tune your suspension. Thanks for comments, ask anything. Cheers.

Looking for a bike that's comfortable enough for commuting, but also fun for weekend joy rides. So far nakeds look like they fit the requirements. Which bikes do you recommend looking at? Also keen to go test ride a few, and if I do so what's the biggest things to look out for? I'm based Moreton bay, so keen for rides up sunny coast hinterland :)

Ok, The current pandemic has created a short supply of bikes and asking more money for older bikes. I think a FZ1 is within your reach with maybe 6k as a buffer. I just used Bikesales.com Have you got a open licence at the moment and how much experience on bikes have you had.

@@WozzasSportsCruiserRides I have my unrestricted license and have some experience with bigger bikes. My mate had a blackbird and now has a Hayabusa so I have taken them both out for multiple rides, also had a little 250 cruiser for a while. I am quite easy going on bikes and don't look for trouble or push the limits unnecessarily. However I'd rather buy something decent straight up and grow into it as I gain experience and riding ability.

Bikesales.com has a 2003 FZ1 with 69000klms for $4750. Heaps to look at. Start with all bikes up to $5500. Look for low Klms. Then try to get one with log book history, extra like carry box, heated grips, pipe. All the original bits, two keys or three for some bikes, something that's been in a garage, looked after, check the fuel tank for rust. A commuter gives your heaps of options not just a FZ1. Then when you have the bikes you like the look of go to the forums to find faults. Japanese bikes are reliable and parts should be plentiful for popular models. Hope that helps. Honda VTR1000, Suzuki GSX etc all should be in your reach. Hope this helps.

I think the next bike will be a Yamaha Tenere 700. I'd like to get in the dirt more. Maybe a second bike Mt-09 for track days.
