I'm not a christian and I don't really take to any organized religion but I grew up loving Stryper for the music. They're still a great band. It was positive heavy music and I just accepted it that way. Everyone should believe what they want without negative backlash.

It's interesting, this song is off of the album "Against the Law," which is the album where people say Stryper "gave up" on being religous. Yet, if you read these lyrics, this is one of their most pro-Christian songs, lol.

if you take everything into consideration like lyrics on this album for preachers to stay away, with cigeretts on the inside cover, with the isaiah 53:5 made much smaller; not one song mentioning god, and in michael sweets book he admits they were dinking way too much alcohol, flirting with girls too much they definately toned down the christin image,but in a youtube video from that time they still sand songs like makes me want to sing.

There is NOTHING wrong with doing the covers that Stryper has chosen to do. They did not pick "bad songs" as their covers. I'm saddened to see how quickly people claiming Christian love out of one side of their mouth, turning and judging their brothers for covering secular songs out the other. I HOPE THEY DO MORE as long as they are clean. There are many Christian "Secular" Rockers. I love the Christian message of Stryper and certain folks need to stop acting as the Pharisees of old did.

@diegofkda Yeah. On a side note I just got my Mesa Quad and it sounds just like Stryper but I have to figure out how to clean it up a little. Supposed to get a Furman power conditioner that cleans up the line. Otherwise it still sounds good, harmonics are just like this. REAL HAPPY.

@brpadington True to an extent, yea. Some artists may feel pressure to fall in with their peers, especially in this genre, hard to say. Either way, I always liked that Stryper had fun with their music, and were open about their beliefs, but they didn't look down on or deny anyone who embraced other beliefs (like me). It's just "This is who we are with no apologies, but if you're not into Christianity and you're just here for the music, we're okay with that too."...

The song "God" (the very last track) is essentially a prayer that asksGod to "forgive them for know not what they do" to cover their sin. And even though I know what their intent was, I still couldn't listen to some of the songs.

After I gave my life to CHRIST, I became saddened at the fact that I couldn't listen to bands like that anymore. I prayed to GOD to help me find metal that was good, that represented him. About a day later, I found Brian Welch, I found Demon Hunter, RED, Stryper, As I Lay Dying, etc. They brought me closer to GOD.

When Christians pretend to confidently claim another Christian isn't a Christian by their own standard of Christianity, it looks very foolish, especially to the enemies who look on such behaviour with contempt on our Lord Jesus, not us.
