What's happening at Lufthansa in 2024? Today, I examine how strike action has affected the airline, exciting new projects slated to launch in the coming months alongside some discussions around persistent supply chain issues that have meant the airline has been unable to obtain next-generation aircraft and retire older jets that are less efficient such as the 747, A340 and A380.

I was buying a flight ticket And Airbus was the One i bought accross the ocean never ever Boeing when I saw Boeing I’m like nah thank you I would like to arrive to my destination.

@@janesmith1284Look into the History of air crashes and you’ll see that Airbus has also had its devastating share of fatal crashes. I’m saying this from an Abiation enthusiast’s point of view. It is just that Boeing is the pioneer and innovator who have been around much longer than any aircraft manufacturer and is American so they stick out like a sore thumb when something goes wrong. There are still a lot of Boeing planes flying around today (even many more than Airbus) and are safe including many 737 Maxes. Boeing’s Management has also not helped the Company therefore the reason for their ongoing internal problems! But all these aircraft manufacturers are all Geniuses and do help each other and we wish them all well and applaud them because they serve the general public (you and I) 🙏🏾❤️

Airbus may try to sell another NEO aircraft, but they're not going to invest in another large widebody aircraft anytime soon.

Well on a positive note, GE announced that they'll be delivering the first production GE9Xs to be installed on waiting 777Xs aircraft waiting for delivery. So I guess GE got their poweplant squared away finally.

Usually I prefer LH for short and medium stretches but definitely not for a long range

Yesterday , flight radar actually showed 2 777x's flying... A first in quite some time !!

Lufthansa, along with Korean have practically all the 150+ capscity aircraft built in the last 30 years. Must be an expensive fleet to maintain, given all those aircraft types

Not sure why we talk about Lufthansa so much here. Another reason to bash Boeing. The airline was already planning on keeping the 747-8 much longer than any of the other quads. These are being fitted with the Alegris cabin, you know, since this video didn't mention that.

Hold up. Their 747-8 interconental aren't that old are they? wouldn't include them in a statement such as Lufthansa are relying on the older jets. Perhaps the A340 fits that statement

lufthansa will be all right……for a very long time….they understand that aircraft are not just blinked into service or existance……..better to have the 777x certified correctly and without drama than rushing it into service

When I watch these videos about any particular airline having to drag four engined aircraft out of the scrap yard to fill the place of the yet undelivered B777X, I sometimes wonder if Im supposed to have a bleeding heart over it. But I don't. These airlines made a commercial decision to go with the B777X, and as far as delivery is concerned, have suffered at least a 6 year delay. Instead of cutting their losses at 3 years delay or so, they just kept their fingers crossed, shut their eyes and put their faith in the stars. But its not just Lufthansa, its BA as well, and Emirates. Anyone would think that these 3 airlines all shared the same stubbon management, because they've all made the same mistake, and continue to make it, which is not to have a substantial backup to overcome 777X delays. Neither BA, nor Lufthansa ordered enough A350-1000s when they were available quickly, should order more now, but haven't. And as for Emirates, they've even picked an unneccessary row with RR because the XWB-97 engine performs exactly in accordance with its specification. I know at least 5 people who regularly fly the Atlantic with BA, and when I told them to check on the age of the aircraft they are flying on, several were very surprised and are thinking about changing to Virgin. As for Emirates, It would not surprise me if they've made an undisclosed provisional order for the A350-1000 already, dependent on engine upgrades, to secure delivery slots, as they at least don't milk the last day out of ancient airframes deliberately...............

One correction springs to mind regarding your comment on the age of the quad jets. The 747-8s they operate are far from old!

Indeed, but I guess he meant the 747-400, which Lufthansa is operating too. In fact Lufthansa explicitly stated to keep the -8 for a long time due to the business class layout. Probably they will keep them for longer than the 380.

Let’s not forget the Pandemic which suddenly threw the entire planet into chaos and now has left industries and humans generally with deficits of all kinds be it economic or physical & mental health. If a phenomena can suddenly appear from nowhere to struck the earth, it’s a huge lesson then that we need not take anything in life for granted. And with current world events and observation of the ‘Signs of The Times’, the Pandemic and its effects are just ‘A TIP OF THE ICEBERG’. Looking at current delays in supply chains for Aircraft manufacturing, there are a lot of difficult times ahead for this Globe. Sad but watch this space 🙏🏾❤️

As Boeing flounders, the certification of the 777x is inevitable which enrage all major clients including Lufthansa. As for Lufthansa, operation unrest and strikes have had ruinous effects on the conglomerate.

if i understood it correctly its bcs boeing is currently putting focus on their 737 max family jets. i just googled it quickly and thats what the first result was so it could be a different reason. i guess nobody really knows besides the people at boeing and the faa

I know that there was issues with the GE engines and I don't know if that has been resolved. Things were progressing more or less on track until the MAX brought down much greater scrutiny from the FAA. Maybe there are design issues which they can no longer hide?

There's a plethora of reasons, difficult to remember them all. Mc Nerny's victory, driving out engineers and mechanics from Boeing. COVID-19 layoffs and retirements. MAX disasters, occupying the majority of the engineers, fixing it. Increased oversight by FAA binding engineers. Layoffs after the MAX disasters. This results in a lot of knowledge and veteran staff being gone.

my favorite airline and LH should have ordered 787s in 2010 to replace some A330s and A340s and ordered them late and are now stuck
