The NX Freedom class I honestly cringed at when I saw it in media promotions and remember even saying to my brother that I would actuelly prefer the Kelvin Constitution class than that. When I see it, it to me though expresses someone you dont like much, but when you are forced to spend time with them through no choice of your own you actually discover that the individual isnt that bad afterall, just misunderstood. The class can certainly withstand alot of punishment though, cant it? Between the regisry number and ship name that particular area around the saucer reminded me of the Discovery we saw in the first released trailer of it coming out of the asteroid before we got the other version and I liked the one we saw in the first trailer, so much better than the end result. The chunky nacelles as well still baffles me, but I am glad they were gotten rid of in place of what were put on the NX-01 in both universes, they remind me of a rub of toothpaste, thick at the front and then gets thiner the further back you go. You probably have already covered the reasoning behind this and I apologise if I seem ignorant but am I glad this wasnt a ship in a tv series but thats my own opinion. 6:07 I just have Akira class come to mind but without the torpedo launcher between the nacelles. 9:04 The giant green hand, I dont watch TOS that much but wasnt there an episode with a giant green hand in that or am i just totally remembering things differently? But a nice throw forward so to speak if i am correct, ha ha. I enjoyed it sir, and hope you are continuing to get better in yourself, take care out there

Great video. Glad someone finally put out a reason why the Intrepid Class having its nacelles next to the hull was a very bad idea. That has always annoyed the Hell out of me about that ship. The idea of putting the WARP energy next to the crew living quarters was pretty stupid from the get go. It's also supposedly the reason Mr. Jefferies designed the TOS Enterprise nacelles out on pylons.

I love this episode…the Freedom Class is a fascinating design. However, I do have one quick question…was the fate of the USS Franklin the same in both timelines or did they suffer different fates altogether? Just curious.
@congaspy20583 жыл бұрын
based on when the divergence happened between the two universes, the USS Franklin should have gone on the same path in the prime timeline as it did in the Kelvin, as this happened long before the Kelvin was destroyed.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios3 жыл бұрын
@@congaspy2058 Though you're most likely correct, that the Prime Franklin ended up at Altamid, there's also a theory in temporal mechanics that could be at play... That at the point of divergence, changes happen in a non-linear way. That because time isn't a constant when traveling through it, changes to the timeline travel in both direction, through the past and to the future... This is a hard concept to follow, but it does make sense in scientific way, and could make for an interesting story in the future :) Either way, aside from ending up on Altamid, the future outcome of the Franklin, IE meeting Kirk, Starbase Yorktown, Prime Starfleet's lack of Transwarp, means that the Franklins fate would be quite different in the Prime Timeline!

I believe the Franklin and her crew went through the same fate in the TOS timeline. The difference being, were they ever found? No doubt they were, just not by the Enterprise. The drones that ancient race built were tough as nails, and going up against a Starfleet that hadn't dealt with a ship like the Nerada would guarantee a win for them. But, Starfleet crews would be the same resourceful and determined bunch, even if the technology differed a bit. I have a thought. In another Truth or Myth video about the Joseph-designed Dreadnought(either the Dreadnought-specific one or the video covering all the Joseph designs) it was mentioned there was audio communication from Epsilon IX in ST:TMP with the USS Entente, one of the ships listed in the Technical Manual for the Dreadnought class. Leaves you to wonder, if there was a Starfleet Dreadnought within communication range of Epsilon IX, why wasn't it dispatched to intercept the V'Ger Cloud which had taken out three Klingon battlecruisers and threatened the communication station itself? Because they were busy dealing with Krall or had finished but left too damaged to take on the V'Ger Cloud. With the way the drones commanded by a former Starfleet officer handled an Enterprise more powerful than the original TOS Enterprise, then a TOS Dreadnought would definitely have a challenge. It's a thought. I honestly don't know if there is any lore on where the Gagarin Belt is in relation to the UFP-Klingon border. For all we know, the Station Yorktown might have been sitting a dozen light years from the Cardassians and didn't know it yet.

Great video. I really like this ship design, but think it’s design fits the TOS/TMP era. The hull design has a TMP look and has some similarities to the Miranda class when looking at it from the front. I could see it as a scout, or attack, ship during the TMP era. I could see the scout ship USS Columbia in the first movie being this class.
@AngemonOfLightАй бұрын
The “open concept” design of the class is interesting. It would make the ship feel less claustrophobic and more relaxing, and the privacy issue could have been solved with curtains. The downside is less compartmentalization. If a large hull breach was to happen, instead of one small compartment, a whole area of the ship could be possibly be blown into space.

I was wondering any chance on the Yorktown class Starbase as Transwarp engines make transport and moving plus new Deep Space outpost to support it as a forward operating bases for the 5 year missions while also Starfleet aggressive expansion and support While overall a space colony unlike the Spacedocks but design to support and build new classes of Starships Overall Starfleet rapid responding thanks to the new drives gives these bases wide coverage

I still can't figure out what was going on in the movie with this ship. They were using music to disrupt/confuse the robots. Did that make them explode or did this ship have way more firepower then the Enterprise? I had asked this question on another video only got a responsefrom person who didn't understand the question.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios3 жыл бұрын
Well Kralls ships operated with an advanced computer system which connect all the little vessels together. This allowed them to operate like a swarm, so close to each other, that the sensors on board the Enterprise weren't even able to tell that it was hundreds of ships, rather thinking it was just one large starship. What Kirk and crew did, was use music to jam the computer signal that connected all the ships together and allowed them to operate in tandem. And so then, without Computer Control, the ships were so close to each other, that losing the Computer caused them all to crash in to each other... Hence the explosions!

@@TriAngulumAudioStudios see this is whjy i hate people who use time travel as a tope to make plots work. it just makes everything way more confusing like how in into darkness we see a model of the NX-01 but that ship only exists because of the events of first contact so that means despite the massive changes in events and tech of the kelvin universe the borg still go back in time to assimilate humanity and picard also goes back in time to stop them leading to the exact same alteration in the timeline as the prime universe and then there is the kelvin films saying that a large chunk of Romulan space was destroyed by the hobus supernova and that would have destroyed even more star systems if it hadnt been stopped but in star trek picard its implied that only Romulus was destroyed and the star that went supernova was never named. for most people inconsistencies dont mean anything but they annoy the hell out of me and they are all a result of using time travel as a plot device.

The Class seems to be logical, but I'm not sure that the Vulcans would have let Starfleet build it. OTOH, Enterprise, as much as I liked the series, FAILED to explain WHY the Vulcans held Earth back for a Century. Yes, it was briefly touched on in Season 4, but the creators missed a golden opportunity presented in Voyager for a better explanation. In Voyager, Humanity launched Freedom One as an unmanned Warp capable Deep Space probe. As an unmanned probe, Earth may have equipped Freedom One with a Warp Drive that would have produced lethal amounts of radiation for a crew. The Vulcans may have felt that Humanity was pushing too fast after First Contact and wasn't prepared to handle long range interstellar space travel. Flash forward to Enterprise. According to Voyager, Earth had contact with Freedom One for decades at least. Given the Warp 5 engine, why couldn't Enterprise have been sent to follow Freedom One and establish First Contact with Species encountered?
@TriAngulumAudioStudios3 жыл бұрын
I think you've misunderstood a bit about Enterprise and the Vulcans... The Vulcans at no time actually held back, or prevented Earth from doing anything. Some humans felt that they did because they refused to share their technology with humanity. Also the Vulcans, logical and cautious by nature, tended to give recommendations based on that philosophy, again viewed by some as holding humanity back... What I'm saying is that Vulcan holding humanity back was a feeling, rather then a physical fact! Also, you have Friendship One a little muddled as well... Its warp drive was not lethal at all, anymore then any warp drive is lethal I suppose... The problem there was that the probe contain the information to create an anti-matter reactor that caused their self-destruction. The scientist in the episode says that a containment failure in their antimatter power grid destroyed their planet. But until the Friendship One probe arrived, the natives had never conceived of antimatter. So to extend that to "Earth may have equipped Freedom One with a Warp Drive that would have produced lethal amounts of radiation for a crew" is a far stretch with no logical basis being that we saw Cochrane himself use an almost identical warp drive for his first warp flight and had no ill effects what so ever.... We dont know what course Friendship one traveled on, for all we do know, the original course chosen for Enterprise May have been close to that of Friendship one... Or perhaps in those decades, Friendship One found nothing of Interest being that Decades at warp 1 equals = only 10 Ly's per decade and Space is large, with not every system passed being inhabited... Finally, this starship class was built BEFORE First Contact, thus the Vulcans allowing anything doesnt play a factor, since humanity knew nothing of the Vulcans when they began to build this ship...
@charlesrosenberg82333 жыл бұрын
If you watch this video, the Intrepid couldn't handle a Warp 4 engine due to the Delta radiation. An unmanned probe wouldn't have the same issue. That's why I'm saying the Freedom One was problematic. The Vulcans may have felt that Humanity needed to work out the bugs in their Warp Drive and given negative interactions with other species may have been reluctant to share technology.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios3 жыл бұрын
(First you do realize I dont need to watch the video as I wrote and made it right?) But you're incorrect about the Intrepid... It couldnt handle the Delta Radiation emitted from the Nacelles due to the proximity of the Nacelles to the actual hull... This problem was solved by simply moving the nacelles away from the ship... And the Vulcans philosophy of not giving tech to humanity is the basis for the Federations Prime Directive...

No it doesnt... Im sorry but you are incorrect! Please refer to memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/USS_Franklin_dedication_plaque to better understand what you're talking about! All it says is starship class a call back to the plaque of the Original Constitution Class Enterprise that said the same thing! Its the Freedom Class memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Freedom_class_(22nd_century) There is no Kelvin Class, merely the USS Kelvin of the Einstein Class that started the whole timeline...

The freedom class is the ugliest design in trek history.

This ship is pre kelvin time-line, before the split, so is prime universe anyway

Yes but the disclaimer explains that because it was introduced in the Kelvin Timeline, it would be reasonable to assume that this video is in that timeline as well when it reaches the future of the class... And thus the disclaimer was made!

Yes but the ship is from before the kelvin time-line therefore making it prime universe as its even before the nx enterprise..... TIME TRAVEL HURTS MY HEAD!!

Right, but not everyone realizes or even knows that! There are MANY fans of Star Trek that have become fans since DSC's release... Again hence the disclaimer! I thought this through my friend, Ive got this, and did this to make sense to everyone!

"Since my first day on the job as a Starfleet captain I swore I'd never let myself get caught in one of these godforsaken paradoxes - the future is the past, the past is the future, it all gives me a headache. The question isn't where we are - it's *when* we are" - Janeway. Lol
