I just rode mine for the first time today. I rode it pretty much around the city, parking lots, trails, highways and neighborhoods. I put it some mileage on it. It was fun and I nejoyed it. On my next day off work I will try to ride even further. And btw, this is the first ebike I've owned in my life. I have not rode a bike since the mid 90's.

I love this bike. LOVE it. I’ve owned an original XP since your first review convinced me that I needed one. Ever since then I’ve had friends who thought that $1000 to $1200 for an ebike was just out of their budget. This bike is an easy recommendation since it’s from a brand I trust and at a price that will be easier to tell my non biking friends. Thanks again for your videos, you’ve kindled a passion in my life.

Mine arrived 2 days ago. I love it, his negative issues are non existent on the one I got which must be newer. The rear light has 2 bolts, and battery is very secure and quiet. My one complaint AT ALL, and its a small one. The charging port is on the inside part of the bike when folded, so it must be slightly unfolded for the charger to go in the port.

Kev THANKS I appreciate you doing some REAL WORLD range testing, and giving your viewers some REAL DATA to work with!! Manufacturers always exaggerate range!! That's one of the most important buying considerations is your battery capacity and range. It's very misleading when they are telling you "40 miles" and then you ride it and get 10 miles. Not enough battery capacity and range is one of the most common reasons for outgrowing your first ebike early.

Great review again Kev. I think most people will be drawn to the website at $799 but then buy the XP 2.0 for $999, the $200 delta is really negible given the value of the larger battery and more power. If the 45lbs is the greatest feature then I get it.

Maybe. Of course there’s also the variable that an extra $200 may as well be $200k if you don’t have it. For those that do you might be right

agreed on the battery being one of the most important buying decisions of an ebike. I feel like basically everyone ends up outgrowing that first ebike realizing "i need more battery". If you are getting an ebike with less than 15ah, I would say make sure there is an upgrade path to at least expand the battery somehow.
@napilopez
@napilopez 2 жыл бұрын
I think the weight and size thing may bebigger than you think, and it really depends on where you live. A lot of ebike buyers are in cities and if you ever have to take your bike upstairs or down onto a subway, the weight and folded size is a big consideration. I've often found heavy ebikes are more trouble than they are worth in NYC. I often feel that people who live in the suburbs or urban areas in the US tend to prefer larger more powerful ebikes, but most other places in the world there's a bit more of a careful balance I think. The 2.4-inch tires, and more importantly, normal-sized rims, mean you're also a lot more likely to find a bike shop that can replace your tires.

@@napilopez Yep I'm torn between these these e-bikes and standing e-scooters for portability. I have not gotten one yet since I personally think bicycles are more for exercise and the battery defeats that when they can be propelled without any effort.

That 20 pounds is a lot when you are a 120 pound woman. I just wish they put the stronger battery in the smaller bike. And I will have to add on fenders and a back rack which increases the money. I don’t know what they were thinking not trying to get the same battery in the Lite. Pisses me off. That’s what keeps stopping me from getting the Lite. Just got a competitor’s bike in the mail but the quality is very much lacking so it’s probably going back. (SAMEBIKE) And now I’m back to the drawing board.

Kev, I watched your channel for quite a bit before buying my first ebike .. almost 2 years ago? You're really something special when it comes to bike reccs even though I never went with a bike your recommended. I got a Himiway Cruiser recommended by "Another channel" because it looked like, on camera, a bike that I could ride around and people might ignore since it looked more normal. What I didn't know till later is the channel owner is over 6 feet tall and went off Himiway's BS claim that 5'2 people are fit for the bike. I'm 5'6 and I am too small for the bike- thankfully I'm used to it. But because of their height difference and not stating as such- not only is the ride a bit much for me but also the bike was much larger than I expected. So it stands out FAR, MORE, than what a lectric might. I get people stopping to complement 'how great my bike looks' and me being anti-social and just trying to get errands and basic stuff done- this is not what I wanted or expected. Genuinely, coming back after having my ebike to your channel I wish I listened a bit closer. Especially since himiway nerfed the top speed of 32MPH (unlocked) to 28MPH (unlocked) and not even the reviewer made any effort to say so. I mentioned it in a comment and they just said "yeah they did change it which is a shame" it's like- you knew and you said NOTHING, no update vid- just "here's me doing 32mph, this is great!" to that not being an option- at all. Sorry for the long comment it's just frustrating, to me that I didn't go off your recc. The bike I got works great- for sure, I still probably prefer the ride but you feel vastly more honest than other reviewers.

Only things I'm going to change are wider handlebars and I'm going to put some wider platform pedals on it. Eventually I'm also going to get a front hub kit for it to make it a dual motor.

Wish they could incorporate something like an internal 3 speed hub into this. Maybe even front wheel drive with a Sturmy Archer type rear hub. Wouldn't add more than a pound of weight. It's important to keep the crank spin speed at a high enough rate so as to not damage the knees. Otherwise this looks like a good eBike for general use. I have the original Lectric with 20"x4" tires and very much like it. I use all the gears although mostly 3-7 and of course depending on speed and terrain.

I almost grabbed the Lite as soon as it came out (I presently have the 2.0st) because of its light weight but the fact that it doesn't have the front fork suspension is a deal breaker for me. I bought the 1.0 when they came out and the constant slamming of the front end (not good for a guy with 3 back operations) pushed me to move on to the 2.0.

rear hub motors are very prone to wheelies with 20" wheels when you start going 750w and beyond. Throttle only anyways. I think thats one of the reasons they don't really make 20" wheel ebikes with 1000w rear hubs. In terms of pedaling wheelies yea it can be done i've flipped my Aventon Sinch back and scraped off the end of the rear fender flipping it over. But It's not easy to maintain that balance point with the heavy battery and wacky geometry of the folding bike frames. The throttles usually kind of ramp up power gradually and are not that useful for wheelies.

I took a look at the Jupiter X7 this morning after seeing Raising 3 Boy’s comment. My initial thoughts are that it does look cool, but at $1195….here is where the Lite beats it: -48v vs 36v -That rear suspension won’t do any more or less than Lectric’s suspension seatpost ($74) -Weight 45 for the Lite, 48 for the X7 -Lite has a wider seat height range ⬆️ & ⬇️ -X7 has no rack capability that I can see -Price: Lite is ~$400 less ($325 with seat post) That’s not to say there isn’t a market for the X7. That’s a snazzy looking frame, but I think weight and budget is where the Lite will find it’s audience.

@@KevCentral we've had the X5 and the Lectric XP 1.0 for 2 years now. Both are great. The X5 was $599 and XP $899. I agree that the X7 is overpriced at $1200. The XP Lite seems like a good deal in comparison. But I find it odd that Lectric didn't continue with suspension forks (like 2.0), lowered the power, and went even farther away from the original with thinner tires yet again. The rear suspension on our X5 does work. I replaced the spring with a softer version and I can assure you it's noticeable.

If I stand on pedals if I want to take the bike for a climb, the crank seems like it’s skipping a tooth on the belt. Belt tension is set perfectly fwiw. Leaves in only a seated position. I am very interested in seeing a good review of the Kent Genesis 700c Bohe mens gravel bike from Walmart. Please please please consider doing a review from what I’ve seen it could be potentially the best budget gravel/road bike currently available. Keep my fingers crossed that you’ll take a look at one even though know you mostly stick to mtb stuff 🤙

This looks like a fun bike, my main concern is assembly, so when I saw you put this together I was surprised and feel more confident that if I were to buy this I'd have no problems setting it up. I saw the XP 2.0 and love everything about it but the assembly part is what scares me thus might be a deal breaker if I bought it and couldn't fully assemble it.
@annv4338
@annv4338 2 жыл бұрын
The assembly is the same for both the lite and XP 2.0. Slide in the handlebar stem, adjust your seat, fold the pedals out and pump up the tires. No real assembly. Also charge the battery it may not be fully charge and this can take a while. The bike comes folded so just unfold and make sure it is locked in place. If you check out the Lectric site they have videos on how to do everything once you get your bike. They also tell you to check all the bolts and screws to make sure they are tight.

Always enjoy the videos. I can see the value if you need the folding feature, but other than that, is it worth double the price of the hyper e-ride on sale? Seems to have a similar range and top speed. The full-size hyper also seems like it would be an advantage if you run out of battery, but the throttle option of the Lectric is nice. Just not sure it would justify the price difference.

The bike is Cute at best . i have a question for everyone . as adults when we go to the store to buy a new bike do we look at the BMX type bike or do we look at the mountain bikes ? i see comments about the gears on the 2.0 being a problem but you have always had the option to buy a dirt bike BMX but you didnt did you . its a cute bike but people are jumping the gun. i get that its lighter but that's all it is. no suspension no racks no power .

@@KevCentral not sure why detract would be the word? i would think having more gears to ride would be a good thing... but if i was only going to cruse on this using power then i guess. anyways if you make the mod i would love a video on it, if you think it's not a good idea, i appreciate the return comment.

Hi Kevin, Great video as always. I had a question about the rear chainring. Over time those teeth will wear out. Especially since there is only one gear taking all the milage. Is the rear Chainring replaceable on this bike? Please let me know if you know. Thank you Kevin.
@KevCentral

Yes. The gear is removable from the motor, but note that a single speed cog typically lasts decades. There isn’t any lateral crossing like on a multi-gear setup

@KevCentral Glad they sent you a battery for the review. My wife ordered an XP Step Thru and the bike shipped after 10 days, 17 days after ordering they decided to ship the battery. That's 3 days after we received the bike. Both the bike and "spare" batteries were listed on their site as "ships within 1 week". I like the bike but their shipping and handling are senseless. There shipping invoice lists the one and only battery as "spare battery". She was told via email on the day the bike arrived that "yes our batteries DO ship separate, 3 days later FedEx had the battery in their possession. Meanwhile their site says "batteries MAY ship separately". Another customer on a Facebook group had the same experience but was told his order must have fallen through the cracks and they FORGOT to send his battery. Sadly this "eXPerience" isn't giving me a rosey outlook on their business practices.

It would have literally been the perfect bike if you could unlock some speed and get it to atleast 25 …. Although I’m really debating this vs the 2.0 because the mobility of this lite is amazing! But the bit more speed of the 2.0 is also appealing I can’t choose ….I’m just wondering how heavy would the 2.0 be for a 5’8 guy like me
@KevCentral
@KevCentral 2 жыл бұрын
2.0 is a bit more bulky and heavier, but it’s still nimble to ride. The size and weight is most noticeable when trying to stow it in an RV or while folded.

@@KevCentral at first I was so sold on the 2.0 even after seeing the lite because that 28mph is extremely appealing but the weight n mobility of the lite has got a grip on me… is the weight really that bad on the 2.0.? My thoughts on the lite are is it actually light enough I could fold it up and like carry it around inside somewhere around with me effortlessly? If so then it might be the one
@KevCentral
@KevCentral 2 жыл бұрын
45lbs and the nature of how folding bikes fold wouldn’t be something you would want to try to carry around like a suitcase, but it is noticeably lighter and more compact than the 2.0. For me, I like the Lite best - and that says a lot, because I have plenty of love for the 2.0
