I was wondering what is the best thing that some one could do to try to get hired on with a larger department like San Diego with no prior FF/EMT experience?

+Jackson Kane. Not sure there is a difference between getting prepared for a big department or small department. Each department has its own culture and traditions. Best thing to do to get hired here is get some experience on an ambulance first. Or explorer program or a reserve program. The more experience you have the better. But none of that is actually required. Always take the test. Every time it comes out. Take any and all tests. Better yourself. You never know where it will lead you.
