In digestive system, plasmodium undergoes asexual reproduction and produce gametes from gametocytes called gametogenesis. Gametocytes are of two types.They are
Macrogametocytes produce macrogametes called ovum. Microgametes produce microgametes called sperms. Fusing of ovum and sperms leads to the production of zygote is called fertilization.
Zygotes will move to the wall of digestive system. It undergoes number of divisions produce sporozoits.
Then these sporozoits will move towards salivary glands and deposited in the gut of mosquito.
Now mosquito is ready with sporozoits with full of plasmodium species to infect healthy person.
In Man: From these infected mosquitoes plasmodium enters into the healthy persons by mosquito bite.
In man it has two cycles: 1.Pre Erythrocytic cycle 2. Erythrocytic cycle. PRE ERYTHROCYTIC CYCLE:
Stages in PRE ERYTHROCYTIC CYCLE: Sporozoits (to) Cryptoschizont (to) Cryptomerozoit
They need two weeks to complete this cycle. Pre erythrocytic cycle: It occurs in liver cells. The sporozoits which enters into liver cells are called Cryptoschizoints. They will undergo asexual reproduction which produces new daughter cells called Crypto Merozoits. Merozoits released into the blood by rupturing of liver cells. Some of the merozoits attack new liver cells to produce more number of merozoits.
