it could take sharp photos bro I used it to shoot my running child. the key is to use burst mode, set the focus slightly in front of the subject, and press shutter. as the camera bursting, quickly move the focus to the back. you'll get about 15 images and one of the would be very sharp on the eyes. need to take a lot of practice but once you get it, you get it. anyway superb review kyle, love it!

I really like this lens! Got it for only $210 on AliExpress. Ordered the TTartisan lenshood for it and it fits perfectly. Also got one for my TTartisan 50mm F/1.2. Focussing @ 0.95 is a breeze with focus peaking because of the shallow DOF. I tend to buy more manual lenses lately because of the way they make you slow down and think more. Sharpness isn't even a main concern anymore. I prefer a look over sharpness these days.

Excellent lens for the money. Super fast. Two suggestions: 1) Buy a hood for this lens to minimize flaring. 2) Buy a plastic lens cap and keep the metal cap in storage. It has some rough serrated edges which could scratch the front lens element if one is not careful.

Hi, I am impressed to see the images you presented. I have a question though. At .95 the Bokeh is very good but also creates light fringe. If I use a nd filter while the lens is wide open ,will it remove the fringe along the edges and give a sharper image?

So I've been really experimenting with my photography as of late and this lens caught my eye. As a part of your learning process any amateur photographer should experience shooting with a manual lens and this 0.95 is pretty great at that for the price. Personally i have been using this lens a lot at night for street photography and while the images aren't the sharpest as compared to some of the other options on the market I personally this this is a great value.
@kyletaggart Жыл бұрын
Agree with everything you said. Even if someone scoops up something like a 1.7 Fotasy for $30, manual focusing adds such an interesting element to photography. Doesn’t have to be your go to lens, but it just adds to the experience and learning.

would you use this for product close ups? for youtube videos. I have an a6100 and i shoot the talking head portions with a 16mm f/1.4 from sigma, but i'd like something more zoomed in for the product shots. This is kinda budget so I thought it might fit the job :)
@kyletaggart3 жыл бұрын
it would be nice for product shots - my advice would be to be patient learning manual focus, and to not always shoot wide open at f0.95. Stopping it down a little bit provides better sharpness and makes focusing a little easier.

The artisans lens never stops to amaze me!! The amount of detail in each of your photos are amazing!! I know the lens isn't perfect, but let's be real what lens is, the photos still turned out great despite the imperfections!! The price of the lens is actually not that bad!! I dont know why I was expecting the price was going to be more, like in the thousands. Do the Artisans lenses come with their own lens caps? Or would you have to buy them separately? Also, I just wanted to point out how gorgeous Sara (i hope thats your fiancés name. Im sorry if its not. Im awful with names) is.

a6400 user here. That's a very cool review 👍 but I am confused picking up my first fully manual lens between 7artisan 1.4 and this one. 1.4 version has preety good reviews in terms of pic quality and comes with 10 elements and 9 groups (don't know about this version). Whereas I am getting attracted to that 0.95 number, is it really that wide open or kind of 1.2 in actual? Any suggestions will be hugely appreciated. 🙂
@kyletaggart3 жыл бұрын
Take a look at the comparison when I show the example shots at each f stop and you’ll see the difference between f1.4 and 0.95. Also, both lenses are great. I did a review of the 1.2 as well. I overall like this one better. The other one is much smaller and lighter though.
@Vicky-il5yv3 жыл бұрын
@@kyletaggart thanks for your quick reply. And yes one good thing with 1.4 is its for full frame, in case if I switch to FF in future it will work. How FF lens performs in apsc, it shouldn't be any loss of quality or sharpness right??? BTW, you got one more subscriber!!

@@kyletaggart yes exactly, would this give a sharper image when someone uses any FF lens on APSC body, or there is something visibly negative with that ?
@kyletaggart3 жыл бұрын
@@Vicky-il5yv I imagine there may be a negative of not using the entire lens of a full frame lens, but I'm unsure specifically what that'd be. Thanks! As for the Sony 35mm f1.8, it's anything but mediocre. It's one of my favorite lenses of all time. The auto focus is incredibly fast and silent, it's lightweight, but built nicely, and it's sharp. Unsure why you'd think it's mediocre.
