Whether they like it or not, MLB has to do something about these incompetent, oversensitive, power-happy umpires who are destroying the game’s credibility even worse than PED’s did. Most of them don’t know the strike zone from the ozone. Even the replay center gets it wrong too often. Screw the umpire’s union. Fire them if they’re unable to comply to professionalism. MLB, your public is watching… but not for long at this rate.
@paulalstrom414410 ай бұрын
How about YOU do something about it. Register to umpire at your local association. Officiate some games, a lot of games. Work your way up and show these MLB umps how it's done.

@@paulalstrom4144 The losers who complain wouldn't last at 13U ball. I didn't know how hard this job was until I started doing it. Well, if you think about it, every single day they’re getting ridden about everything. They’re human. After a while, every single person in that position is going to cave at one point. I think they only have 1 day off a week to travel to the next stadium for the next series. It’s draining. On top of that, the ridicule they go thru from their higher ups after each game from their screw ups to their good calls to getting critiqued on their mechanics and their positioning. I don’t blame them for being on a short fuse after a bit. I do think they need more time off because it can and does effect outcomes of games

The problem is a simple one. There is no accountability for these umpires. Players and managers/coaching staff can be penalized by ejections and suspensions while umpires like Hernandez are allowed to perform at such a low level with no penalty. The players are out there practicing and playing there asses off and umpires just show up for the games and get paid. I’m a strong union guy, but the collective bargaining the umpires have is iron clad and only benefits the umpires and not the game. This needs to change.

I don't see any reason to part sith a ton of money to ever watch an MLB game. By the time you buy a ticket, get to the park, buy a drink and a food item, you've spent more for just that tyan your grandparents spent on their house. You have to watch through a net because some people didn't pay attention and got hit by a foul ball. Umps think the game is about them and their authority complexes. Players change teams like a supermodel changes shoes. The whole production is just egos and money grabs.

That first one was not dumb. If an umpire feels the need to take to the mound, he has to eject. Real quick, y’all do realize these umpires work every single day and take heat every. Single. Day. Not just by players and coaches but after every game they get critiqued for every bad call or no call, being out of position and their mechanics. Non stop!! With players, fans and coaches and head of umpires being up your ass for majority of the day along with the pressure of the severity of it being professional sports and on tv for the world to see, as a human, you’re gonna cave. No matter who you are. After a while, enough is enough. It’s human nature. Not defending their actions. Just painting y’all a picture on what the day in the life of an MLB umpire looks like. Under constant scrutiny to be perfect isn’t easy, I’m sure. Y’all don’t have any pressure cuz you’re watching on tv or in the stands. Maybe think a bit broader before just up and wanting to get rid of the umpires
