I moved to a property with a few black walnut trees, not realizing what the nuts (before harvesting) looked like. Once I did my research, I realized what I had. I absolutely love foraging for them, just around my yard. This will be my first year harvesting. I may keep them or try to sell them at the farmer’s market. No matter what, though, it gives me such peace of mind when I'm doing it. You're right and I say it all the time, it’s so important to love what you do for a living/earn money.
@laceyjane42855 ай бұрын
Walnut trees sell for a lot of money. If you have enough room plant a few more trees. They are slow growing, depending on your age it could be a wonderful retirement nest egg, or money for your children or grand children. You wouldn't have to cut down all of them and in the meantime you have the opportunity to make money with the black walnuts. A good old fashioned corn sheller comes in real handy in helping to get the shuck off. Any wood cutting company would love to buy any trees. They were worth hundreds of dollars years ago when I was a kid. I am 62 now😊

@@MakeMoney777GRI have no long leaf pines out my way, but do have tons of great books. I had sets of W. Churchill's books, 4 or 6 in a set. I sold them on Craigslist for 100.00 each set. They were free to me so, I included shipping in that $100 bucks. I didn't feel the need to be greedy. It was a nice haul. These days thrift shops here are charging more like $2 or 3 up to 5 a bk. I loved it when they were 4 for a buck. I did sell a ton of bks at garage sales. Most want them for nothing, but I once did have a guy that forked over $350.00 first. I let him take what he wanted - he filled 2 grocery bags worth. He came back and did it again with another $350.00. He spotted a few more on his way out and I just handed another bag to him to fill up as a gift. If he can make a couple hundred back, so be it. He was quite generous. I knew they were worth good money, but no time to deal with it beyond the initial estate sale held. If you ever spot, even in fair condition, "Guia Familia" by Pablo L. Martinez.- it's in Spanish, I would pay you $200.00 for it. It's out of print; likely never coming back into print. It's the ancestry of early Lower Baja, CA area families. Some of my early ancestors' history of one branch are said to be noted in it. Would love to read it. Might have a bit of what I don't already know. I know I will find it someday, just not where or when. Thank you for your video! 🙏❤💫💥

Just ran across your channel and subbed. That's a good lick. Good for you! Nothing better than making some extra money from what you gather in nature. I've been making pine needle baskets for decades and I've made a good bit of money from them. But my primary career is blacksmithing and custom knife making. But I still enjoy making a basket ever now and then. Living in the wilderness of northern New Mexico I'm never short on pine needles. Another good lick I do sometimes is going out in the woods and find elk sheds and sell them. Gold panning is really fun to. Great video and I look forward to watching more. Also hey if you read my comment here's another good idea for you if you can find really small immature pinecones like those that didn't get very far along around the size of say a dime or nickel size then you can sell them to for sewing on top of the lids of pine needle baskets and as well as on the sides for little handles and it looks great. Just another idea to be on the lookout for.

I'd stick to making the ones I could finish in 3-4 days and get a 100-150 bucks for. My primary career now is in steel working I'm a professional bladesmith and blacksmith and I make way more money doing that than anything else I've done in the past.

My FIL lived in an area where there was large amounts of the needles and I would collect it and put it on my yard where we lived 2.5 hours away. He eventually moved in with my SIL and I lost my source.

Hello Gary, I’m a disabled person living with my two dogs near Weatherford Texas, we love spending time outside and going on hikes. Could you please share with me your secret on how to sell pine needles ? It would greatly help offset the terrible inflation we currently find ourselves in. By the way I just subscribed to your channel. Thank you very much for all you share with this online community. God bless you. Adam

@@AdamDeville-v7q 8t takes time you first need to set up a shop online a site like Etsy or Ebay and sell them online charge a shipping fee as you would sell anything online I average around 27per pound for a 18ounce order I charge 27plus mailing and .you can google Longleaf pine needles for sale and see what comes up and that is how you would aell. Not the Longleaf pine cones drop between September through November and each has 150 seeds the seeds sell for fifty cents each and google that see what they look like and trees if you grow then a good size 18 inch sell for $80 at Lowes and home Depot and other places I sold them in the past for s40 each look through my videos I have a lot of easy ways to makey And Thank you

Had a neighbor that used to let us collect horse chestnuts from his tree when I was young. We'd sell them to Christmas wreath makers. Not money like this though!

I'm in the panhandle of FL and they aren't dropping quite yet here. When I found out these sell, I started collecting last year. I washed them first. I only have about a pound right now because I was going to use them to make something. Now I might sell them!

You can use the needles in plants that love acidic soil. Potatoes and blueberries. Also, pine sol kills cockroaches, nats, and other bugs because it has pine sap in it. In SC a truck cane and sucked up the needle because its used for mulch in gardens. If you could extract and use to make bug killer gardners would be interested. You can dip pinecones in wax with chemicals that when burned in a fire place will change the color of the flames. Heat pine cones to open up for crafts.

Another example how we can live with nature. Without killing everything and cutting down trees.
