Extensive flooding in the city of Laplace shot from drone. Many water rescued happened here. Storm surge and flash flooding exacerbated the fact the right eyewall tore through the city.

Hello from Germany, we've also been experiencing severe floods in July but this is about you. I'm so sorry this happened to you and i'm wishing the best for Louisiana. Remember that, even if i'm from another continent, i'll try my best to be there for you with positive energy and give you my prayers. I love Louisiana and my friend lives there, she didn't have floodings just a strong gust of wind, but i still hope you all the best and my best friend too. Edit: *I am not religious.*

This morning getting ready for work (here in Louisiana) the DJ's were talking about a 71 year old man was killed walking through the flood waters around his home by a huge alligator. His wife heard the commotion from inside of their home and ran out to try and help him. She managed to pull her husband up onto the front porch and realized his injuries were not survivable. Still, she got in their pirogue (small boat) and went to go find some help. When they got back to her home, her husband's body was gone. As a native born Louisianian, I've come to believe we are the Australia of the United States. We've got so many things here that will kill you-from Alligators to Water Moccasins to Hurricanes. If the animals don't get you, Mother Nature will.

@@didibolter9362 Hey, there Didi about a week and half ago they had storm that turned into Tsunami instead of just rain. Homes got picked up thrown into the middle of 4-way intersection. Apartments units was split in half. Buildings whole roof blew away and cars was stuck up in the tree and truck slammed into apartment 2nd floor living room. People clinging onto tree and light poles got swept away. One man lost his 14 month baby...the baby got snatch from his arms by the strong current of the fast moving flood water. And Country Singer Loretta Range Handler lost his life...he couldn't hold on to the wooden pole and he was swept away and it's all catch on video camera. Roads are washed away and power lines are laying on the ground everywhere so, they got no power at all...it's just a mess over there. Just keep praying Didi because the Summer is not over yet. Not everyone has the luxury of moving from where they were born. I wish to god I could move from my current city to one with better medical facilities for my and my mom’s health issues, but moving _across town_ when our previous apartment raised our rent took every penny we had and three weeks of work because we don’t have family to help us and could only afford the movers for three hours (long enough to move the beds and things too heavy for our medical 15lb lift limits). It can be nearly impossible to move the two, three, or more hours to a "safe" place when you’re disabled, impoverished, or don’t have family, or even all of the above. And even once you move, you still run the risk of a landslide zone, earthquake zone, flood plain, tornado risk, heat zone, cold zone, etc. There’s no actual safe place to live and people will always find a way to blame you for the natural catastrophes that can occur in your region.

Usually it drains back to some water system, the big lake, the Mississippi River or some branch back to the Gulf of Mexico. We're in different times now; climate change and rising sea levels. Hopefully it will recede. One day in the future, it won't. I hope this is not that day.

The wind from hurricane Ida (~150 mph) pushed water inland from the Gulf of Mexico. It would be great if they could pump the flood water into trucks and bring it to California, but eventually this water will drain back into the Gulf.
