Always early for flights, rather be at the airport relaxing than worrying about getting there. Also always have a printed itinerary and boarding pass as well.

Same either way us. I’m old fashioned and want everything on paper and in my hand.
I agree with "get organized before you board"!! Get yourself a pouch to put all your in-flight items in (I use one from Travelon made for that purpose). I get my pouch out of my personal item as I sit in my seat. My headphones, snacks, tissues, cords,etc are all there in the pouch in the seat pocket. That way I also remember everything when it's time to de-plane.

In addition to putting a smart tag in eacgh bag, I also take a picture of each bag to be used when reporting lost luggage. The one time I did have suitcases not show, I was able to tell them where they were (Terminal 2 in France) and show a picture so they could be found. Had them back in 36 hours.

I wear comfortable clothes that I feel good in. I do wear compression socks which are less comfortable do help prevent blood clots when sitting in cramped quarters for extended periods of time.

I agree about always getting to the airport early. There was only one time that was actually a problem, when we were traveling with young kids on the 36-hour return trip from Tanzania years ago. The flight from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam got us there nearly four hours before our next flight, but the airport wouldn’t let you wait inside OR check your bags until an hour before the flight. There was a restaurant you could wait in but you weren’t allowed to bring in luggage. So while my husband took the kids into the restaurant to wait, I sat outside with all our bags for almost three hours, getting eaten alive by mosquitos. Not fun!

I heard from an airline pilot’s spouse on KZbin to be at airport your desired amount of time before boarding time rather than take off, just to be safe.

Check in online and get your printed boarding pass at airport. Easier to wait than be late
@NadiaPoulin10 ай бұрын
If your flight is on the airline's app and you checked in online, you do not need a printed boarding pass, at least not in Europe

Have you ever looked forward to a day off from the gym or a cheat day or to binging a new season of a show. Schedual things so your travel day is that day so your are looking forward to just sitting for 8 hours being a couch potatoe.

I have learned from my last trip to book the disability service when booking my ticket. I have autism and things can trigger at anytime throughout the flying experience. However, I am better at navigating the system than my husband, him and airports do not get along. Especially when asked where his final destination in the US is, he travels on a EU passport. One thing I always organize before boarding is having my slippers handy, to put on when I get seated. sock, bare feet, or putting shoes off and on, for bathroom or walking the aisle a bit, is a no go for me or anyone else for that matter!

I always try to have everything I need for in-flight (snacks, headphones, reading material) out and ready before sitting down. I see people fumbling and digging in their bags all the time and it slows down everyone in line behind them. I always try to make sure I've hydrated (albeit not too much) before a flight. I'd love to hear any advice on flying from cold climates to warm climates--do you leave the jacket at home? Pack fewer layers? Wear the jacket then store it?
@thetravelcoaches10 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing Tim! We leave the big jackets at home and just travel with a long sleeve or light sweatshirt for the plane. You will just have to suffer for the small window of time you are outside when arriving at the airport! but for us not worth packing the warm stuff.

This is a big question for me. The idea of going to the airport without a real coat in February is very uninstinctual to me as a Canadian. There is now a coat check at the airport but I imagine it costs lots. However I don’t want to take a big coat to Hawaii!
@denise358710 ай бұрын
Weigh your bags before leaving the house. A small travel scale is great especially when using those cheap restrictive airlines.
@MoonbeameSmith10 ай бұрын
I arrive early but the airlines do not open up for boarding passes until they feel like it. This means no clearing security and there fore no food except snacks.

Flight attendants are not there to serve you nor be your friends. They are there for your safety. They are in authority.
@thetravelcoaches10 ай бұрын
that is a great point! main job is safety first! thanks for watching❤️
@chrispnw254710 ай бұрын
Wrong! Don’t go overboard. Their job is to manage their assigned areas, serve food/drink, monitor safety , and ensure flight comfort. No one should expect them to be a SERVANT but they are being paid to serve paying passengers and preserve calm during the flight.
@stephancox910510 ай бұрын
@chrispnw2547 They're in-flight authoritarians, is what they are. They can have you dragged off a plane if they don't like you. And I've lurked enough flight attendant forums to know that they hate their passengers enough.
@dgrayhudson9 ай бұрын
@@chrispnw2547unfortunately Chris, you are incorrect. Flight attendants are paid to ensure your "safety". "Serving you" is a bonus. Injuries are on the rise, therefore being seated during turbulence is now a priority. If you must eat/drink- bring your food/beverage with you. If you can't place your luggage in the overhead bins- don't expect the flight attendants to do it, baggage handlers are "paid" to do that. Please remember, any situations regarding "unruly" passengers can lead to very steep fines enforced by the federal government. Your airline fare is to get you from point A to point B.

Beware the window snatchers. They will sob story you to get your seat. People are just crazy. Yea not getting my seat unless they are moving me to business or first class lol
@eddiemaxwell694910 ай бұрын
Check in online if you can. Then you've secured your seat. I don't like being early at the airport. It's expensive! There's nothing to do apart from shopping and eating. There are never enough seats for those who just want to sit down and relax, so you have to go to a bar, café or restaurant just to rest your feet!
@thetravelcoaches10 ай бұрын

If you’re stuck in a middle seat, the armrests are yours…don’t yield to the people on the left or right…and man spreading is your prerogative (regardless of gender)
@jimmyryan58808 ай бұрын
I agree but the area beyond the armrest is not. I spent my last flight with a guy jabbing me in the kidneys every 15 seconds. I had to practice so much patience that they made me the new Dali lama

Isn't one of the mistakes you list regarding airport security is dressing in layers? On the face of it, this seems self contradicting.
@charlottefrsterling72658 ай бұрын
Do not use perfume (people can have allergies). Please take a bath and wash your hair before a flight. Not a lot of fun to be seated next to a person with a bad smell!

As I am retired and travel to Cebu philippines 18 hour flight and use compression socks as moving around is limited. Also need about 500 ml an hour, helps reduce jetlag also do not consume any alcohol as it dehydrates you. It would be best if airports and airlines ban all alcohol. Airlines do not sanitize water tanks rarely and bacteria grows in the tanks. I fly business class as on a long flight and always on a foreign airline, EvaAir. Sea via Taiwan via Cebu all on EvaAir. No changing airlines. Living in Central Washington state 1 hour flight to Seattle then to a hotel to rest for 8 hours then to international terminal 3 hours early check-in and drop check bags get through TSA an then fill water bottles. 2 have filters built-in from Mono luggage, expensive but great. 2 collapsing 1lt. You made very good point to use the bathroom before boarding. As business class allowed to board early, I do not wait as economy classes will use your overhead bin but on international airlines not a ptoblem. Domestic very much an issue. 3 times economy class used my overhead bin in business class as they had too much crap, 4 carry-ons. The last time an African karen called me a racist and told me I am white prevalage. Too my carry-on and walked off the aircraft, my ticket was refunded as I refused another flight the next day or flight voucher with this airline. Booked on another airline. Many people flying now should be taking greyhound. Most the I use carry-on but the check- bag I sometimes take more items to Cebu as I am relocating there. Because I am 6ft 200 Lbs and clothes are difficult to find there for me. I do not wear t-shirts and shorts with flip flops. In the states I wore jeans and cowboy boots and yes I had houses.
