Wow useful ideas .. thanks for sharing .. To make mattress cover more durable .. you can turn it into a mattress topper .. add a nice layer of foam in the middle, an old cotton bedsheet in the bottom & curtain on top .. Sew some straight or diamond shaped lines to bind all layers together It will add extra softness & make mattress topper more soft & absorbent Thin layers of foam are available for sewing at any sewing shop
