Personally, I like the games that start by giving you a small preview of the skills and abilities you'll acquire later, either by losing them all right away, by playing as an advanced character who'll appear later in the story, or by borrowing someone else's gear, all to give you a taste of what's in store for you if you stick with the game and progress your way.
