I love how this sounds like legit 8-bit sound instead of those other so-called '8-bit' remakes that are actually just MIDI's. Great job!

Holy Jeebus, this came out a year after Mario Galaxy. This video is older than a lot of people on this website.

I still don't want to believe that the Wii is considered retro gaming now
@expansionpack44854 жыл бұрын
At this point, the WiiU feels retro, though, that might just be how much better the Switch is.
@afraidbysnow38954 жыл бұрын
@@expansionpack4485 8 years ago is pretty recent actually, the PS4 was released 7 years ago yet it doesn't feel retro at all.

This song makes me truly understand how fortunate those of us who grew up in the 8-bit era are. I'm closing in on 30 years old, and my baby sister is nearing 14 and she LOVES Mario and Sonic. Watching her enjoy the industry as much as I have makes me feel eternally grateful for the shared experience. I'm in tears, folks. Thank you Miyamoto. Thank you Kondo. Thank you Nintendo...from all of us.

I think this proves the genius of the composition. I would have loved this tune had it originated on the NES in the 80's. Kudo's to the Tracker who did a fantastic job staying true to the theme and faithfully emulating the 2-square, tri-wave, noise channel orchestra! Bravo!

We really need another 8 bit Mario game on WiiWare Virtual Console. Mega Man proved that it works. So does this tune.

***** My personal dream (and I suppose many people's) would be an actual (S)NES- or GB(C/A)-game. Yes I do know that chances are NOT SO GOOD that it gonna happen :-P They can put it on each and any platform they wanna (like the named Mega Man!) - as long as they f*** DO IT!!!

This sounds really good, and it certainly brings back memories of playing NES games :) I still remember when I would get to a stage, and then just let my character stand around so I could listen to the music, assuming it didn't have a timer lol. Ducktales come to mind on this :)

"wow. it has been 12 years since i first made this NES cover. a huge thank you to everyone who listened to, shared this, and have supported me over the years." bro i literally grew up on this 😭 there was a website called planet axew and the creator made a mod of super mario flash by pouetpu and it had different skins on it.. your song here was for one theme of the levels.. i was like 11 now i'm 19 LOL good times 🥲

Yes, this was 100% magical8bitplug, i used a lot of instances to simplify switching between different envelope/wave settings, but there are no more than 2 square waves, 1 triangle and 1 noise at any given time.

@ebonygentleman7916 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is so true. From 8-bits to...what is it now? :) We saw this little hobby grow up and that's something special. I hear this song and I still see myself playing SMB, Contra and Tecmo Bowl for the first time as a tyke. I think of my younger sister, now 21, playing Sonic 2 on the Genesis when she was in kindergarten. Now my baby sister is saving Galaxies on the Wii. For all of the negative talk about video games, I can testify that it can bring families and friends together.

I do things with music hacking in general. I enjoy reverse engineering, but with music mainly. You may remember the "Demo World 3" patch I created several years ago, which was the first to feature replacing the SMW engine with the SMAS engine (used in many first party games). Other than that I have been involved in things such as writing Sappy up to version 1.6 and looking at various GBC and N64 music engines.
