Angela, I am researching the cleaning business and just discovered your channel this weekend. I haven't binge watched anything like this since Breaking Bad. I am totally blown away by your wealth of knowledge. Thank you for sharing. I must say that the idea of cleaning a plunger in the shower is a bit unsettling for me. What do you think about adding some cleanser to the toilet bowl and letting the plunger soak there for a couple minutes then cleaning in with the toilet bowl? You are amazing. Thank you for all that you do.

Oh my gosh! You addressed two things that I’m always telling my family. One, rinsing off dishes before they lay them in the sink and two, rinsing off plungers and toilet brushes. Their argument on the latter is that it’s yucky to rinse something in a tub where you will bathe even though I only rinse near the drain and not up in the tub. I mean, no one has a utility washbasin handy in their spaces yet it has to get rinsed somewhere! Thank you for confirming I’m not doing that wrong!

After using a toilet plunger I immediately clean my toilet bowl and clean the plunger by plunging the cleaning solution that’s in the bowl. I add a little more toilet cleaner to a full toilet bowl and let the plunger soak while I’m cleaning the bathroom. Then rinse the plunger by flushing the toilet and letting the plunger dry before putting it away. It’s clean every time it’s needed.

Moving around quickly and picking up and dusting/wiping down thousands of items in the course of a day - you will eventually break an item here or there. It's always unfortunate when it happens and the cleaner will feel terrible. The goal is to have good communication with your office and the client. Always admit what you broke when you broke it. Make every possible attempt to repair or replace the item. And then move on. Accidents are a part of life, and anybody can have them.

That plunger story...I’m so sorry. I store the plunger in the garage and when using I place it on a bucket after use and rinse it outside! I don’t want plunger juices on the shower floor. That adding an additional task for me to clean. Not proud to admit this, but I find it rude when a temp guest wants to use my toilet for #2. Like a 10min or less guest. Of course if they badly need to use it, I do but I remember who they are. And chances of them visiting again are slim. In a book I found, always exit a place better than you found it. I do this in public restroom. I’ll pick up toilet paper and clean seats. Don’t understand why some people don’t treat the place with dignity and self respect. And a place for other people to also use with the same level of cleanliness. Thank you for this channel!

A big cleaning mistake people make is not letting the chemical do the job. For example, if I spray my counter with a disinfectant and wipe it immediately I didn't disinfect it. The chemical needs to sit for a little bit in order to work. I think a lot of people make this mistake it takes a little bit of time to actually get used to waiting a little bit. That's one of my pet peeves! Lol

Am going to try the toilet brush tip - suspending it between toilet seat and bowl. Am enjoying the clips. Have cleaned houses for the last 3-4 years. You may have this mentioned elsewhere, and I my accidentally discovered it, but a really well rung out wet microfibre cloth, is great for damp dusting. I have a dust allergy. I also use a P2 mask, or over the last year an N95 (so much better - do not get so hot in it. Weird smell at the start of using one though :) ) Learnt one has to be careful using damp cloths on wood, as it can dry out. Have used paper towels afterwards sometimes. I do love using a feather duster though - sooo much faster. No the most eco friendly product but the white magic sponge erasers are great for removing tea stains on cups. Came across this product at a clients place I did personal cares for. Depending on ones bench top material the sponge is great for removing marks too.

I taught my children to clean very well. We had daily, weekly, and bedroom cleaning expectations. My oldest son is now very disorganized and messy. Does putting those expectations on our children cause trauma and resentment?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
It's great that you taught your children the importance of cleaning and instilled good habits early on. However, it's important to consider that everyone's personality and organizational skills develop differently. While setting expectations for cleanliness can be beneficial, it's possible that your oldest son's disorganization and messiness may be unrelated to the cleaning expectations you had when he was younger. It's important to approach the situation with understanding and open communication. Having a conversation with your son about his preferences, challenges, and concerns can provide valuable insights and help you work together to find a balance that suits both of your needs. It's also worth considering that external factors and individual experiences can contribute to disorganization and messiness, so approaching the situation with empathy and support is crucial.

OK, after months of searching I cannot find the answer to my cleaning mistake... However I am so happy to have found all your videos, so clear, thorough, funny... My problem, I did use a pumice stone!!! And scraped off the enamel at the water line in the main toilet, which now looks blue??? ( I don't use colored cleaning agents) But it did get the caked on scale in the bottom of the bowl because we have had a drought here in Ca for years...you get the point, flushing less... The pumice did not scrape off the porcelain in the bowl, however. I think I need to resurface it, have you heard of that? I'll try "The Works" in the second toilet which also has the deep scale and a ring at the water line...Then there is the mold in the "underused" toilet, just at the water line. I do not want to mess up the other toilets as I am a renter and have to fix this! I will try Bar Keepers friend, The Works and of course FREQUENCY as you suggest from here on out. But please if you have any suggestions, HELP! PS do I get a notification that you responded? Hmmm Thanks so much, you have the best cleaning channel

I would REALLY LOVE for u to do a video about cleaning with a multipurpose (cleaner + disinfect) cleaner. I have googled (AND even more googled) on how to use these products properly. I cannot find a straight answer ANYWHERE! For example, do u have to use the product to first clean, then apply another layer to allow dwell time or does one round do both? I find (mainly cos of covid) that the answers I'm looking for have been obscured. Can u help please?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Diane, It depends on the cleaner. But yes, you have to clean, and then use an EPA registered disinfectant spray, allow for dwell time. If you are in a hospital and are removing someone's heart for a transplant it is incredibly important that you disinfect. But for most households - sanitizing is a better way to go as most of the cleaning sprays will kill 99.99% organic load within a couple of seconds which is more than sufficient in most cases. Even as professionals we don't disinfect homes, we just sanitize them. Does that make sense?

@@AskAngelaBrown yes thank u. Tbh on the many cleaning groups I'm on its never been made clear that even with a multipurpose (a cleaner with disinfectant) u have to clean twice. So using these types of cleaners don't save time or effort. Does this still apply when there's no visible dirt? Can u wipe down and sanitise and/or disinfect at the same time? A lot of houses I go to keep their surfaces clean, but not sanitised.

How do you clean a plunger? Carefully.
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 3 жыл бұрын
Clean it with the toilet brush inside the toilet. When you're done you can rinse the plunger out in the bathtub before you wash out the bathtub. The tub has water and soap and if you're cleaning the bathroom at the same time you'll have all your cleaning supplies with you.

@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
If it's ceramic tile you should be able to use a steamer to get out the ground in dust. Here's the paid link to the one we use amzn.to/3iM2tgd and I love this because it's got a handheld attachment that separates from the floor part. This allows you to use the steamer for showers, grout, ovens, stainless steel and more.

Just an observation, but a properly plumbed toilet shouldn't really ever need a plunger. Plungers are fine for bathroom sinks and shower and bathtub drains. Sometimes these waste pipes get clogged with hair and soap in the traps which need the pressure spike of a plunger to clear. But toilets shouldn't be dealing with hair and soap, and they have much larger diameter waste pipes. Yeah. I know blocked toilets happen. But if it does, look for the bigger solution. 1) Biggest cause? Putting too much toilet paper down there. Maybe look at one of those bidet sprayer bottles. Much better for the environment, much better for the plumbing system, much better for the city sewer system (or your septic tank), and much better for you. 2) Following on from that? "Personal wipes"/Baby Wipes. No matter what it says on the package, these aren't supposed to go down the toilet. Ditto for diapers and feminine hygiene products, condoms, cigarette butts, and pretty much anything else that isn't toilet paper or human waste. Put a liner in the bathroom wastebasket to handle this sort of waste. 3) Bad/blocked flow from toilet jets. Places with hard water can end up with blocked or clogged toilet bowl jets. Periodically use a product like Iron Out to demineralise the jets under the rim. Read and follow the instructions (it takes about 15 minutes.) 4) Bad plumbing. Improperly fitted waste pipe. Blocked sewer main. If you've addressed the previous items, maybe it's time to call a plumber. Those guys can fix pretty much anything that's going on in most household bathrooms. Fixing things might cost a few hundred dollars, but - trust me - it's money well spent. If one or two flushes doesn't deal with whatever you've deposited in the bowl - you've either put something down there that you shouldn't have. Or you've got some sort of plumbing problem that's got a better solution than a plunger. Seeing a toilet brush in the bathroom tells me the homeowner keeps their house clean. Seeing a plunger in there tells me there's something seriously wrong.

The plunger thing is my pet peeve. I'm the only one that unclogs toilets in my household because I have an specific method I follow where I unclog it, then rinse it inside the toilet with chlorine 3 to 5 times, then let it drip dry like the toilet brush, then put it in a plastic bag outside in the yard sealed, I am just not comfortable anyone doing it because they might miss a step and it just makes me gag to think about it 😂🤮🤣

Oh my gosh that’s just foul and so disrespectful of that guy to do that to your plunger. Jeez. Gross!!! I would have just thrown that thing away and got a new one after finding that out 🤢. Angela, do you know how to get the smell of cat urine out of plushy carpets? I’ve used a carpet shampooer and gone over and over and over the spot but it just won’t get rid of the smell. Do you have any ideas or tips? Thanks a lot!

I have trained my family after using the plunger and flushing so there is clean water back in toilet, use that clean toilet water to rinse the plunger off and then flush it again so the dirty water goes bak down.. If you use your shower or bathtub and get dirty water into those areas then you have to clean those areas before you would want to bathe in them. Eeew.

THEN PROPS IT UP, DOUSE IT IN BLEACH, STARTING AT THE TOP OF THE HANDLE ALLOWING THE BLEACH TO FLOW INTO THE BOWL (What I do & try to preach) AND LET IT SIT WHILE HE WASHES HIS HANDS MAYBE? AND USE A TISSUE (CLEAN) TO MOVE IT AFTER GIVING IT JUST ONE MORE PLUNGE AND TAP? 💩 THEN WASH One more time.
