Yeah when I see Refurbished it’s sometimes a red flag that they’re using cheap parts (there’s a seller called WorldWide AR who does all fake Seiko and other vintage models) but sometimes it does mean that someone has had it serviced, cleaned and replaced needed old parts

Mr. OE....why do you love Omega so much? looks, movement, etc?
@TimelessHistoryChannel2 жыл бұрын
I love many brands to be honest, you can find videos on my personal collection in the playlist. But, my main focus is Omega because this is a brand I have a deep knowledge on. And why keep it to myself when I can share the knowledge to everyone else. If knowledge is not spread, it will get lost through time. I like any watch that looks good, has a quality made movement, well build case, etc.

Great video, I love your channel! I notice that in this video and others you use the word "luminous" as a noun (e.g. "a dial with luminous..") as well as an adjective (e.g. "this dial has luminous dots.."). Although it's an informal term, I think it would be better to use "lume" as the noun form. I don't blame you for using "luminous" in this context as there isn't really a formally correct noun form, but "luminoius" can't ever be anything but an adjective (because of the "=ous" ending).
@TimelessHistoryChannel2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for pointing that out. I'll be more specific next time. So used to describing lume as luminous it's hard to change up sometime. haha. The same goes for when I used to say 18mm instead of 18 millimetres. It's a bad habit that a watchmaker picks up when we order parts.
@neil47012 жыл бұрын
@@TimelessHistoryChannel Another way to say it would be (e.g.) "luminous compound" or "luminious paint".

@TimelessHistoryChannel2 жыл бұрын
Haha, that was a teaser! Honestly, I wanted to make a video about it. Unfortunately, thorough examination tells me that the luminous on the dial has been relumed sometime ago. I like to educate my subscribers on a watch that is all original. Hopefully I will find another in all original condition. The dial originality is most important to me.

Hello I have a watch omega Seamaster and it just says Swiss on the bottom rather than Swiss made. Does this denote something?
@TimelessHistoryChannelАй бұрын
It’s perfectly fine. It depends on the dial variation that’s all

Thank you do much for this information. I too could not make out what the alphabet T denoted in such watches. Now I understand. I have quite a few Favre-Leuba watches with the words Ra marked on both sides of swiss made in the dial. Can you please let me know what Ra stands for. Thank you once again for this video.
@TimelessHistoryChannel2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Ra or R would indicate that the luminous on the dial is Radium. Your watch is probably from the 1950s

Absolutely on the dot. I have about 10 Favre-Leuba watches, and they all were bought in the years 1950 to 1960.

Hello, maybe you can help me. I bought a bunch of "parts" watches and I need help identifying one Omega. It says"Omega Automatic" on the dial. No mention of seamaster. It's a cal 500 movement but it's missing the case back. Any way you can identify the watch so I can find a replacement back?
@TimelessHistoryChannel2 жыл бұрын
My first suggestion is to not buy an incomplete watch. It’s a headache and you’ll always remember that your watch is a rebuild. To answer your question, take a photo and make a post on the Omega forums or Facebook Omega chat group. I’m sure someone there will be able to assist you.

I have just bought a Constellation ref. 168.010 piepan, and it is a bit difficult to see whether the indexes are with onyx or not. But it should be onyx, I guess, unless somebody has replaced it with rubber. Best regards Ulrich Sorensen
@TimelessHistoryChannel Жыл бұрын
Onyx is usually on solid gold version with a solid gold dial. When you look at the edge (top or bottom), do you see like a tiny shinny lump? If yes, that is probably some sort of lacquer to hold the rubber black strip. Because on the original onyx, it is smooth, flat, and square. And you can see the shine on the black strip unlike the painted or rubber version. Onyx will appears like a black crystal piece.
@anettesrensen2140 Жыл бұрын
@@TimelessHistoryChannel Thank you for your answer. My Constellation ist steel, and I think it is rubber. It does not appear to shine.

Hi, im looking at an omega ref 2446-1, after hours of research im still unable to find the exact same dial. Would I be troubling you if I asked you to take a look ?
@TimelessHistoryChannel2 жыл бұрын
Usually when you cannot find one to compare could be that your watch dial has been refinished recently or decades ago (if it shows aging). It could also be that your dial is a rare version. FYI, not every dial variation can be searched up online. You are welcome to show your photo on the Omega forums or Facebook Omega chat group. There are many watch enthusiasts there who can give you an answer. All the best

The thing is any watch can be the best to buy and any watch can be the worst to buy. Most importantly is to buy for its condition. You do not want to buy a poor condition Omega watch if I tell you it’s the best brand to buy. You buy what you like and what attracted you. Then make sure that it is in good working order and in excellent shape. That will be the best vintage watch to buy.
