Doki doki has the best execution of the cute to horror in my opinion. It starts out as a slow burn until Sayori dies, which is when the player 1. Realizes something is going on here that they didn’t care to look at before 2. They need to see what else is going on and complete this game It gives you warnings that seem silly and strange until the horror truly begins, which is why I love it.
