One note: SMC reset on computers like Mac Mini is requered not only to unplug power cord, but also hit Power button for 5 seconds (after the cord is unplugged). The Mini's will beep once and SMC will actually resetted.

Deleting any unwanted language packs can also slightly save battery.. atleast it did a few years ago... I think the software to do that is called monolingual... it helps a lot if you have a full internal hard drive

I did it with bitraser file eraser, i mean i deleted unnecessarily temp files, raw log files, unwanted data efficiently. Now my system is running quite well.

There are a few tips for Mac speed ups easily Use your Activity Monitor. If you want to see what apps are using up your system, open the Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Turn off visual effects. Most Macs are now capable of running Mac OS X Mavericks. Update your software (and it set to auto update) Clean up your hard drive. (Reference: Achak Speed Plan website )

Strange. I have bought a new MAC but after 2 months I am encountering some problems. I get a message: Overallocation detected on main device. I have deleted and restarted the hardrive. Then.....when I start up my extremely expensive MAC PRO, the spinning ball starts and occasionally the page freezes. Do you know whats going on?

Your iMac seems to be struggling with animations, but opening apps seems fast. My MacBook air is very fast in every way, except of opening apps. Specially system preferences. I have no idea why.

Removing unused Apps does nothing. macOS is NOT Windows! Number 1 tip: Make sure your hard drive has at least 15-20% free space. Number 2: Use a SSD or Fusion Drive as your boot drive. Number 3: Maximise your RAM.

I have only the original macbook its not a pro so I'm really not sure whether to update my system to os x el capitan just incase it slows my computer down, also with the apple lawsuit that is going on about updates slowing down the older devices so we have to buy new ones, what would you recommend?

if you really need the newer application support then I say go to El Capitan, however if you would prefer speed than stay with the old version. If you do end up updating and you wanna go back, you can.

Would have been good to know/alert that clearing the cache will also send Mac Mail into a days/weeks long rebuild as that program apparently caches all the emails. **sigh**

hello im a little youtuber who does gaming vids on a mac and now i'm having troubles with extreme FPS drops when i record while playing i set my game's graphics to lowest and only left quicktime and my game the only apps running and still getting 10 fps after 6 months since i got my mac this is happening and i think its either macOS Sierra caused it or me running my mac for 17 hours a day caused it Is it a hardware or a software problem? Where are you getting alerted? Notifications? Or in your web browser? Or when you start up and or login to your computer?

+Ralph L. Baer if you 100% you've uninstalled it, there may be left over stuff that could cause the notifications you seem to be experiencing. Places to check initially: 1. System Preferences> Notifications and look through there and remove any instance of it you find (if any). 2. System Preferences> Users and Groups> Login Items and remove anything you don't want to start up automatically by selecting it (should be highlighted in blue, disregard check box as this is for hiding it, but it would still open in the background) and then hit the minus button at the bottom of the screen to remove it. I’m pretty good with computers and could not find a way to delete temporary files from my computer I now have a built Microsoft computer I made I highly recommend Microsoft is easy and a lot better than apple. So if your looking to upgrade look into that.

I had a 500GB WD Black HDD laying around, so I thought I'd replace the HDD in my late 2008 iMac. Didn't make much difference. Probably more of a RAM thing that it's stuck on 4GBs. Unfortunately I can't go back to an older OSs that works better, because software is less compatible. Not even Firefox works with older OSs. Yearly OS updates really are a problem for compatibility on the mac. It'll mean half your mac compatible steam library won't work, because it's designed for this OS and not that OS. Where as on Windows, 7 lasted a long time and anything that worked on 8 works on 10.
