Maybe, our Fe being before our Ti is what allows us not to say the "unforgivable" before it's too late?! Well, most of the time at least! ^^ Interesting that issue with Fi users! 35:00 I love how they were all badmouthing Fi and then J comes out at says "what are they good at though, what can they do that we cant?" for the longest time I thought that Fi was stupid and useless. However I studied emotions and why they are important recently and it hit me. Emotions help us make decisions. Fi users know what they like, they know what they want, and they have dreams. I have found that knowing what I truly want has been a struggle. This is one of the reasons why it is hard to achieve a lot as an ENTP. if we could just organize our lives and figure out what we truly want and fight for that dream we would dominate the world. we are smarter than ENTJs. If we just had more Te, Si, and Fi then we would take over the world.

Relating to the point about saying truths to people, 25:32 timestamp, it can help giving feedback on the action rather than the person. "This and this action was selfish" rather than "you are selfish". And you can also soften up the language: "This and this action could be seen as selfish" (which is true, when we don't know the persons intention, the action could come from a non-selfish place). 52:26 This insight was really profound for me and gave me a new perspective. I am a person who always (!) listens to other peoples problems. And I have discovered that it drains me and make me a bit resentful in my friendships. Last week I had my friend coming over to dinner and she was a bit stressed. I am stressed as well, but I tend to forget it and focus on the other. We got into a deep and very personal talk, and I delivered some truths about her (in an ok way I think). Maybe she really needed Fe, but I couldnt give it, because I was completely drained (from handling my own and other peoples problems). And I think she might have gotten upset. Instead, I shouldn't have moved into a deep conversation (I think the thruths hurt her) - I should just have kept it at "surface level" or an intellectual level, since I personally wasn't ready to deal with all the emotional stuff that came up. That would have been much better for me - and probably also for her.... So, for me setting boundaries is really important - as to how much of other peoples stuff I am taking in. So sometimes, when people want something, and you are not able to give it, you have to set the boundary.

This was super interesting to see so many ENTPs together! I've been wanting to gain a more in-depth understanding of them. I liked some of these ENTPs better than the one's I know in real life. The one I am closest with does not listen to other people too well and talks over people all the time. I think J REALLY knows his stuff when it comes to personality! What ENTPs don't realize, is that we Fi users know when you are pretending to "share" with us. It comes across pretty fake to me at least. You think you are sly but to me it's pretty obvious that you are not really sharing authentically. ENTPs do seem somewhat reserved to me except for their surface Fe behaviors (which don't really feel like true feelings so, not really a connection made there). And we can easily see right through that Fe placation. Sometimes I think it's pretty funny to watch the placation although I don't let you see my amusement. I know other Fi users can see through that as well. Of course we can because we actually DO know what emotional depth truly looks like. You all really don't so you don't realize how you come off. I think maybe you can fool other Fe users though. I never say anything when an ENTP does this to me but it definitely makes me feel manipulated and I will lose trust and respect for them and will not bond with an ENTP who does that. But they won't know I feel that way. You won't know how an Fi user feels unless we intend for you to know. That's the irony of the situation. ENTP users think they are the ones not sharing but we are actually the ones who are truly holding back and you have no idea.

@@fckyafeelingz4064 It's a bit different. What I'm referring to is how ENTPs try to manage people which is a little condescending in my opinion. Like they may placate us or flatter us. But I know ENTPs usually have good intentions so I don't judge them too harshly but I don't like when they try to manage me. I prefer authentic interactions with people.

I was married to an INFP for 8 years and with another INFP for another 9 years (still friends with both). It's the child Fe, the placation, brown-nosing, and yet treating people with disrespect and condescension (completely dominating conversations, interrupting people, ignoring people, etc.) if he does not need them for something, being overly critical with his 6th spot Te. etc. Many people have said that about him so it's not just a clash in our type.

Lol, serious Ty Lopez vibes, haha. He seems kinda Oi? Like frequently in conversation he just wants things to be already part of the known information; he is not especially amenable to receiving new revelation from others. If he is ENTP, I might guess he is double activated on a masculine Si. I'm not knowledgeable enough about OP and the animals. Is that a possible configuration? I'm still trying to figure out my type, and I actually got into type through Enneagram, but I am still not sure which type fits me at the deepest level. One thing interestingly dogmatic across the board in typing systems is that people don't change type. I'm not so sure, but either way my biggest consideration lately is simply depression. I'm not sure whether I've changed type, but my depression certainly has changed my apparent personality greatly. It's very hard to pull apart all the problems in my life and see what is happening because of me and what is happening because of my environment. Maybe I should look for youtube videos on that topic... Thank you, Joyce, for another great type talk!

Also, if you're still trying to figure out your type, I have a typing service. If you're interested, you can reach out to me at joycemeng22@gmail.com

You cab search information about each dominant function as kids, and ask people near you how were you when a kid. Also trying to remember that years of your life. When you know what was your dominant function as kid, then it's easy because only have two type options. Maybe 4 if you doubt between 2 dominant functions.

Jim Carrey is not an ENTP himself, but a lot of character's he plays in movies are ENTPs. the mask is ENTP, the grinch is arguably ENTP, Fletcher in Liar Liar, Count Olaf in series of unfortunate events, Carl Allen in Yes Man. He always plays an ENXP Ne dom.

J mentioned a good point of Fi-doms idealising ENTPs and I find if I do something 'wrong' in their eyes they will suddenly forget about all the Fe I've done and try to emotionally traumatise me. This is part of our frustration with high Fi users. They're arent grateful for all of the past Fe investment you've painsakingly put in if they feel you have crossed one of their lines, which they don't make clear to you. Often we conclude this person just isn't worth the trouble and cut them out of our lives if we can to save us from pain. Meanwhile they have this social perception of being angels and we are seen as devils.

I disagree with J on the Fi reasoning. If I don't want to do something, I can certainly give you an explanation. Perhaps it might take longer or be less clear to a Ti user, but I have my reason and I am happy to give it.That being said, I think his advice could apply to some Fi users. It was a good debate between J and Wendy discussing this.
@cherishtheday22233 жыл бұрын
I think that the Fi reasoning would lack actual reasoning. It is more emotion-based and less logically sound.
@carolinek83113 жыл бұрын
@@cherishtheday2223 Are all of your decisions based on logic? I highly doubt it. Or even if they are, how sound is your logic? You are like anyone else on this Earth, operating within a paradigm of YOUR choosing with LIMITED knowledge of what is going on. I am the same, only as an Fi user. We are both equally culpable of making poor decisions based on what we know. To accuse any dominant or auxiliary Fi/Fe user (i.e., any "F' in MBTi) of being less likely to reason well because of how they process information and make decisions is proposterous, as if saying feeling is not as equally valid in the realm of human experience. You know this, I know this, and everyone else knows this, too-even if you don't necessarily realize it.

1:06:18 I have some difficulties separating what you say here Joyce (about Ne/Se users being able to transfer their skills from one subject field to another) from how Ni users use Ni. Because Ni identify the underlying pattern of things and can then recognize the same patterns in other things. Wouldn't that be the corresponding idea to what you are saying? Can you gives some examples on the concept of transferring skills? (I think my underlying assumption is that mental skills within a field gives an ability to pattern recognize and vice versa to some extent).
@JoyceMeng224 жыл бұрын
Good question! Here's my rationale: To gather transferable skills you need to have a variety of different experiences. What Se and Ne are good at is gathering new. Whether it is new skills, new thoughts, new ideas or new anything. This naturally gives them many quirky skills from different disciplines. Ni and Si are more committed to a path and thus generally don't gather as many cross-disciplinary skills as lead Pe (Se & Ne) people would. Of course there are exceptions, but I find this to be true a majority of the time.
@aniokay4 жыл бұрын
@@JoyceMeng22 Okay thanks 😊 When you are talking skills, do you mean specific skills, like make a good serve in volleyball or being good at cooking, or do you mean broader skills like eye-hand coordination or the ability to indetify a language? And do you have an example of a skill transfer? I am sorry if I seem inquisitorial - it is purely out of curiosity, since I am trying to pin down the differences between things. And, of course, only if you have the time. 🙂

@@aniokay I'm ENTP and for me mixing skills is to use what I know about physics and about tailoring to fix the glass of a lamp (I did it really one week ago). Also to type a person mixing my knowledge about MBTI, enneagram, antisocial disorders and amount of empathy, kinds of attachment, temperament... And mixing all of this in mind when typing, and I was studying this for only one year. Also when I use maths and my personal knowledge about people to guess the percentage of population with some characteristic (and I've never studied social sciences). Fi is the hardest for us to understand because we have PoLR AKA blind spot Fi. You would think Se the function in our 8th spot would be our biggest weakness. We do have bad Se... but Fi the function in the 7th spot is the hardest for us to use and understand. it's weird how the blind spot works that way. My first girlfriend was ENFP, and it was the Ti Fi clash that separated us. She told me that I was too logical and left me for it. since my best romantic experiences have been with INFJs and ENFJs. They understand me more. As long as they are not mistyped...I think that INFJs and ENFJs are GREAT with ENTPs.

I actually disagree with the rules of relationships that ENTP Nurture put out: You shouldn't give without expecting something back (at least not in a close relationship) and you shouldn't only consider what people need and give that - you have to consider what you have to give as well. 30:46 "Fi users don't get the reasoning" ?, that is just so wrong, even Ti and Te inferior types can accept hard facts and even be good at reasoning and collecting Ti information, clearly Mr J don't understand typology and relying on stereotyping too much, if you had a bad experience with an unhealthy Fi user like a wife or something, you shouldn't put all other Fi users in the same box, some Fi users are insecure about how they think so they work on it and become extremely logical, what people have to understand that high Fi user also use their thinking function regardless of how low it is, its true that they might not be the best at it but they do use it, next time you need to clearly that only some unhealthy Fi users that "CAN" be offended or unaccepting of harsh Ti facts.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty shallow and arrogant. As an INTJ who wields thinking as well, I can give an ENTP a run for their money when it comes to reasoning. In fact, I routinely catch the ENTP on my team at work when he has not bothered to think something through and I have. He used to be arrogant enough to think he was always right but he has learned to check himself with me because I will call him out and then he has to admit when he made an error in his reasoning. Usually he's pretty good at it though.
