Love the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs and Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series. Beyond the Black Door sounds interesting.

I need to read those at some point! I really liked Beyond the Black Door.

I’ve been meaning to read When the Moon Was Ours forever! And I was one of the people that didn’t like Serpent & Dove as much as other people but I think it’s because it was overhyped for me. I enjoyed it enough that I’m planning to read the sequel though!

When the Moon Was Ours is SO good!!! Especially if you’re in the mood for something more emotional. I do think S&D was overhyped as a fantasy, but I really loved the romance.

I’ve really wanted to read Beyond the Black Door for a while, but all I really knew about it was that it had good ace rep. But that world building also sounds incredible!

Hi! Ok, I'm going to repeat myself a little... sorry! But I like Kate & Curran from the Kate Daniels series, though there isn't much interaction in the first two books I quite like Claire and Jamie, from Outlander , that role reversal is there too, with Serpent and Dove... ( It always makes me laugh that Jamie of all people was a virgin, if you read some books in the series you may agree, but I wouldn't want to spoil anything for you) I LOVE twilight. Those books really helped me sleep. And I know that sounds like a bad thing but I have really bad insomnia, and it's the sort of narrative where you know everything will work out, it's very lulling to me. And I know this is a bad thing to say, but I see myself in Bella so much. I don't know, maybe I have no personality or something As usual I haven't read any of the books,,, except the first one... so.. Does the Beautiful feauture the bloody kind of vampires?
@BeautifullyBookishBethany4 жыл бұрын
I really should try Outlander at some point! I connected with the Twilight books too, thought I kind of hated book 4. 😬 I would try The Beautiful! It feels loosely inspired by Twilight but with a historical mystery and way more diversity. You don’t find out much about the vampires until late in the book.

Oh, I love Breaking Dawn... my friend was saying stuff about it, and I remember being like "but if he's a vampire, and his body is frozen in development, how does he produce the jizz to make a kid" and she said "If you have to know so badly, read the books. Download them today!" And so I did, and to this day I say she broke her own universe by allowing the kid to exist, but hey =)

I'm going to try to add more fantasy romance in my life. I like the idea of it still being high fantasy but also some romance. I love high fantasy but not so much paranormal anymore though I did in hs. I downloaded a sample of reign and ruin on your reccomendmenation but havent actually read it yet. I'm currently reading Well Met which is helping me enjoy actual HEA romance instead of Books With Romance (I seem to like women's fiction with romantic elements). I'm not into the books where they break up for a while 😥 so I need to find books like that. I bought Empire of Sand on your recommendation but again havent gotten to it yet
@BeautifullyBookishBethany4 жыл бұрын
Love this! Well Met is fantastic and I hope you enjoy Reign & Ruin. I know you don’t love sex scenes, but maybe skim them? I think for me, I appreciate when they demonstrate strong consent and center the female experience. I think that’s a deeply feminist statement to make.

Have you read the Blacksmith Queen? It's like a fantasy romance for all the people who were disappointed with the GOT ending. Also the heroine reminds me of Brienne so there's that. BASICALLY. I wrote a review if you're interested: www.thealliterates.com/review-the-blacksmith-queen/

I absolutely love the utter absurdity 🤣 of that author's Pride series which she writes as Shelly Laurenston!

What an interesting list 🙂. I have to say that your comment about the covers of Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling Series (on my TBR) made me laugh though as it's the titles that I think are utterly dreadful most of them sound like horrible bodice rippers 😆 - certainly not reflective of what I now understand the quality of the content is. As an avid romance reader, I always find that horrible titles are much more likely to turn me off, especially with particular types of romance, than a questionable cover! I've read A LOT of fantasy romance and the so beautiful Wolfsong by TJ Klune 😍😘🥰 is my most beloved one ever because of everything that the story is about (family, acceptance, belonging, grief, revenge) and ALL the characters as well as the romance. TJ is up there as one of my favorite authors period. TFS :)
@BeautifullyBookishBethany4 жыл бұрын
Lol! Yeah the titles are pretty melodramatic too but I definitely notice covers. I think you have suggested Wolfsong before and it’s definitely on my radar!
@vamps_rock4 жыл бұрын
@@BeautifullyBookishBethany Yeah bodice ripper covers.. shudder! Sorry about the repetition, I forget who I've mentioned it to and not, but I love it so very much. Also, TJ deserves more attention because his all of writing is incredible, and how many own voices MM _romance_ authors do we _regularly_ hear about on booktube? Adam Silvera is the only one I know of.
