8. From Augustine to Aquinas

During the period between Augustine and Aquinas, European medieval political theory was mainly concerned with the question of the relations between Church and State. Although both theories of ascending and descending power existed, it was mainly the Church that dominated over the intellectual life of Europe.

Dr. Sahib you have rightly mentioned that the Muslims did not convert the Christians around Mediterranean countries. My understanding is that they rather discouraged their conversions to Islam because with their conversion to Islam the Muslim rulers would lose substantial amount of Jazia.
