I grew up with Rugrats and Double Dare, so some of the characters and the green slime element really appeal to me. Don't care at all for Spongebob and the zoomer reboot of Turtles though... it would've been great if it had Rocko, Doug, and Ah Real Monsters, instead... as well as levels that paid homage to Temple of Doom and Salute Your Shorts.

Dude, speaking as a 32 year old that absolutely loved the original cartoon, the 2012 reboot of Turtles is sooooo good. Definitely worthy of a "which run is better" debate. I love your idea for the throwback nicktoon characters and Legends/Shorts inspired tracks. A go kart track on Camp Anawana would be sweet

Because this style of racing game doesn't sell enough to make it worthwhile for them. It wouldn't turn a profit if made on an AAA budget, and there are already some pretty good alternatives filling the niche in the indie space (fast RMX and Redout, the first is even a Switch exclusive). Same reason why Sony no longer makes WipeOut games.

@@trustavidity The rubber banding was kinda there for a reason. Bit hard to blow racers up with props if the racers get too spread out. Biggest problem was online multiplayer: there were only two viable vehicles for online, and they were the last two you'd unlock.

carruthers100 I agree that switch has a lot of indie and free to play mobile like games. It is a bit annoying but I’ve actually started enjoying those types of games. I’ve got quite a lot of cheap really fun games on switch. For instance, I just bought Doom 93, doom 2 & doom 3 for less then £5 . Plus, switch does have a good amount of aaa, even if they are ports. Doom 2016, the Witcher 3 metro, etc.

Grid Autosport is the best realistic racer on Switch with a lot of visual options from 30fps high quality to a 60 fps mode and even a battery saver option for handheld all with an optional HD texture pack. Other than that are the arcade versions of Outrun and Virtua Racing through the Sega Ages lineup

Virtua Racing on Switch is pretty amazing. Looks amazing and runs at 60 fps. Also has an incredible 8 player split screen mode (and the other modes have customizable options for split screen depending on number of players, like horizontal and vertical orientations, 2 player tabletop mode where you face each other, etc) . All that's really missing is a local wireless mode (it has a 2 player online mode) for up to 8 players, and pro controller support for the multiplayer modes. Honorable mention goes to OutRun, which is amazing as well and offers 60fps (although my favorite version of this still has to be 3D OutRun on the 3DS which looks amazing in 3D). Both are fairly cheap and play great in both handheld and docked mode. Still waiting for Daytona, Daytona 2, SCUD Race and OutRunners to make it the Switch!

Fast RMX is amazing. Horizon Chase Turbo is also great, especially for fans of old school racers. If I had to pick just one, I'd go with Fast RMX as it's great and it's also cheaper. The jet ski racing game is also good. I think I paid something like $2 for it because of an eshop sale.

I am always surprised when I see an american review of Horizon Chase and there is no mention of Kemco's Top Gear, since the creators themselves have always made it clear that it was the main inspiration, including calling Barry Leitch, composer of the SNES game's iconic soundtrack , to create the game’s music. Then I remember that Top Gear is unknown to most americans, while in Brazil the game is still worshiped today. In fact it is for this reason that Horizon Chase exists, the game's developer, Aquiris, is brazilian and that is why we can see some details like the Fiat Uno with ladder on the roof, a very commented addition here. It is a type of meme here in Brazil that these cars are the "fastest in the world" when there are only 15 minutes left to the end of the business hours.

It actually has a remixed track of a song from top gear 1 on the SNES. I noticed it immediately from playing the SNES top gear games all thru the 90s. And I'm not 100% sure which Americans dont know about top gear bc that game has been popular af around my area since it hit the SNES lol. Me and everyone I knew played tf out of the SNES ones, then on the n64 I still to this day play top gear rally 1 and 2, and even top gear overdrive. I was just playing top gear rally on the gba the other day actually lol but i do miss those games and when i saw horizon chase turbo i was just blown away and immediately knew what it took inspiration from. Bryan Smith I haven’t watched the full video but I highly recommend crash team racing. it’s more intense then Mario kart has a story mode and the online has grand prixs where you unlock skins, items and karts that you can only get for the time the Grand Prix is going on. it’s the second best online game for switch next to smash with online connection sucks on smash lol

So it seems like it would offer some solid long term value to make the best car you can for the races.

No offence, but KZbin niche/retro gamer comments truly are delusional. This isn't a fucking charity and catering to those kind of needs would make absolutely no difference to their bottom line. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see ME, Dead Space and Burnout remasters on the Switch, and it could happen eventually, but even FIFA games sold very poorly on the system. And that's a franchise which is insanely popular on other platforms, whether you like it or not. Sure, the ports weren't exactly amazing, but they weren't terrible either (I have a used copy of FIFA 19, and it's impressive on the go - we've truly come a long way) and the masses clearly didn't care.

Vector Unit surely does know how to make fun and actually good looking racing games. At least from what i've played from them, Hydro Thunder Hurricane (the only Hydro Thunder they worked on, its for the 360), Beach Buggy Racing (played on the PS4), Ritpide GP2 as well Riptide GP Renegade (also on the PS4, day one even) are awesome. They should finally release at least both Ritptide GPs and Beach Buggy Racing physically (and no, not limited run and all on the disc/cartridge), i would buy that so fast.

I get put off of buying racing games on Switch because of the lack of analog triggers. That said, I do like a good kart racer and really enjoy Virtua Racing. :)

There's another racing game called Extreme Club Racing on the switch, it's not perfect maybe but it does look really nice, plus it's dirt cheap like less than a dollar now, so grab it before it's gone, great video Metal Jesus
