Another thing you can do in Device Manager is delete the current driver, then simply restart your machine!! What a lot of people DO NOT UNDERSTAND, is that Windows since Windows 95 to present keeps a spare copy of its drivers in the System32 file folder! This way if a driver becomes corrupt, at start up Windows will automatically look for the spare copy of it in System32, copy it and replace the driver you just deleted at start up!!! And often third party drivers will also install a copy of their "back up drivers" to this same file folder within the Windows directory itself, for this exact reason! Another thing to add too is as long as the hardware the driver supports is still present, the driver will reinstall itself as normally at start up for the device requiring the driver! I was at work one day and an engineer was complaining that he didn't have a replacement sound card for a computer he was working on to a co-worker of mine! And when I showed that, that the driver was corrupt in this same manner I just said above, the engineer looked at me and asked where I learned that?! The thing is I have never went to college, I don't have a single degree in anything, BUT I have been working with and on computers since I was 15 years old, which was back in 1981!!! And the engineer looked at me stunned when I explained the same thing I just said above as though I was lying to him about it!!! Even though he couldn't explain to anybody else that I "fixed the problem" he was having with the computer!!

I just wanted to mention that if you plug a phone (usually Android) into a PC and it cannot install a driver, go to device manager under USB and browse for a new driver called MTP USB Device. I have done this so many times and it just works!

Your videos are great! I used to be a real batch file nerd back in the bad old days of DOS. I use two on my PCs now, just one-liners with the shutdown.exe command. One gives me a one-click shutdown, the other a one-click restart. Keep it up!

I feel your shame, I SUCK at math anymore. I went and got old and proceeded to forget just about everything. But I was never really any good in math so no major loss there. I have a calculator button on my keyboard that launches the Windows calculator, I use it almost daily. If you don't have a button, you can always pin it to the task bar for quick and easy launch. Cheers 🍻

LOL...I have been in IT Industry for like 22'ish years, and I had no idea that the Calculator had other functions like Celsius to Fahrenheit or Pounds to Kilogram...or ANY of the Unit Conversation abilities. Geesh, I always just used a quick Google Online search tool for that sort of stuff, and all this time, it was already built into Windows Calculator :/ Great video, thanks for the tips....Even a veteran can still learn something new.

Don't forget the Windows onscreen keyboard. If you are concerned about accessing, say, your bank account password, or when you need to give out your credit card number to an online store, you can use the Windows onscreen keyboard, just in case you have a key logger on your computer. A few other shortcuts: To use the Trade Mark symbol (™), hold down the Alt key, while using the numeric keypad on the left of your keyboard, to punch in 0153, then release the Alt key and the ™ will appear. To use the cents symbol (¢), hold down the ALT key and punch in 0162 on the numeric key pad. To use the copyright symbol (©), hold down the Alt and punch in 0169. to use the registered trademark symbol (®), hold down the ALT key and punch in 0174. To use the degree symbol (°), hold down the Alt key and punch in 0176. To use the paragraph symbol (¶), hold down the Alt key and punch in 0182. To use the zero power symbol (º), hold down the Alt key and punch in 0186. To use the one power symbol (¹), hold down the Alt key and punch in 0185. To use the two power symbol (²), hold down the ALT key and punch in 0178. To use the three power symbol (³), hold down the ALT key and punch in 0179. To use the the one fourth fraction (¼), hold down the Alt key and punch in 0188. To use the one half fraction symbol (½), hold down the Alt key and punch in 0189. To use the three fourths fraction symbol (¾), hold down the Alt key and punch in 0190. You can always bring up the Character Map by going to the Search box on the bottom left of the screen, and typing in Character Map, and that will bring up a large variety of characters that you can use.

Everyone always says to go to Task Manager/Startup and disable programs you don't want to run. However, everyone FAILS to mention how you go about deciding which program to stop or delete from the startup. Some are critical to OS operation and others or not, just that the publisher prefers for them in the startup, some we don't know what they do or if we use them at all. So, it would be nice if someone (like a guru) would at the very least explain how they would approach this and what method they would use. Thank you.

Don't you? I do and I gues a lot of others do too, only a small % of people turn their PC off when they've 'finished with it' and then turn it back on when they want to use it again. This is not wirth doing as when you turn it back on again, theres lots of processes it goes through before you actually get control of it again, such as checking for updates and any program set to run at start will go online to check for updates too. Best to loeave it on all the time.

From what I understand, the only drivers that are available for update in the Device Manager are those that are in the Windows Update catalog. There are tons of drivers that are not available in the Windows update catalog. Many OEMs will create their own driver update software to address this shortcoming. Specifically, using that method will not update all drivers on a Dell computer. Dell has a program called Dell Command Update which will update Dell drivers and firmware.

Great stuff. Only issue I had was that if you have a pre-built pc from Dell, HP,, etc you should use the update tool that is specific for Dell and HP to update your drivers as many times the stock Windows drivers will mess up your pc and it won't work / BSODs due to slight tweaks the mfg does for the hardware to run properly. I always use the mfg update tool first and then I run widows update tool.

Yes, Windows 11 did remove easy access to the task manager with a right click on the task bar. So, after I found it, I pinned it to my task bar. I use it frequently. All the years I've been using a PC, I never knew about the CNTL-SHFT-ESC. Thank you, Also, I knew about the event log(which can be difficult to find what you need), but I never used the Reliability Report. That is awesome. I found that I had a pgm that was crashing on a daily basis and I wasn't aware that it was even running in the background. Something I need to look into.

Re network reliability script - if you release and renew your IP address, you probably get the same address back again as many DNS sources typically set a lease period for the address. Flushing DNS will help but Release\Renew is doubtful. I don't know what release enew behaviour VPNs use or what the effect of release enew would be.

Most people don't know about the robocopy command. It's powerful and can be used to copy a folder/drive to anywhere and make an exact copy. In other words, it's not like the regular copy command. It will make an identical copy and delete/rename everything to make an identical copy. It's also extremely fast. Use with caution.

However, I’ve yet to learn a script for my .bat file that will delete files in the external backup drive which no longer appear on the main drive that I’m backing up. Last week, I solved a problem that I thought was due to a USB driver. I checked properties of all of the USB drivers (8 of them) but they all said they were "working properly". I tried to update them, using both Search and Browse, but they all said they were at the latest level. I didn't know what to do after that - it was preventing me from updating it, though I believed, from the symptoms, that it must be corrupted. After a lot of searching the web, I found a guy who said "Right click it and uninstall it, then the next time you boot, the boot process will reinstall it". After I did that, my problem was solved.

I used to be able to go to one of my membership sites and all of a sudden I go to the url and it says “internet access blocked”. I tried to go to chrome and put the url in the privacy settings but it still is blocked I even tried a different browser and still the same thing. Any suggestions? Thank you Corey
