This is the best video I’ve seen since Ralph Eckert’s center table drill. This is what I needed.

@24:23 leave the 10 ball in the jaws of the upper left corner and hook her at the same time. I used to practice intentionally blocking pockets. It's a good skill to have. Keep putting your balls in the jaws of the pockets until she breaks up the ball, or you get ball in hand. A nice tatic is to block pockets if the 8 ball is near it. Another decision to what balls to choose on open table is to see what balls are blocking the 8 ball. Also, sometimes your problem is their problem also. Choose when to break up the cluster wisely if it is your problem and their problem. If they only have 1 ball left or just the 8 ball and it's my turn I start to play 2 way shots if I don't have an easy run out. If I miss my shot I don't want to leave them an easy shot. Also if you are good at breaking you start off by getting at the table early and practice some lags shots. I don't lag so great, but if I go to my match table and my opponent isn't there I'll do 3-5 lag shots to get dialed in.

I play a guy who is a little better shot than I am and I use to make a habbit of blocking pockets but he started either knocking my ball out or into the pocket if it was in the jaws. My ball that he hit will slow down his object ball and stop it right in front of the pocket and the cue ball, since he hit it soft will end up against the rail leaving me a long shot. I have an 8 foot table so it is longer than the bars. I had to give up on blocking pockets because of this

Big Al, I find the information in this video very valuable. Will take notes of it and watch it several times. Thank you I’m interested in also practicing the last 8 ball shot in the video. The 8 is the the spot correct?
