Wow, didn't know wing chun had so many kicks. As I guy who loves kicks, can't wait to learn wing chun someday.

I’ve noticed a lot of people get caught up in hands, maybe from my tkd background I made it more of an emphasis to use kicks at least for entry. Also being average height or shorter the longest ranged weapon is normally more useful

I haven't seen wing chun kicks like that since the late nineties, excellent technique bro! Glad I came across this video.

We don‘t do stomping kick with the recoil acion (chambering the kick back to knee). We fall into the kick, I was told it is meant to break the leg at the knee joint. So basically you immediately land on the ground. The way it is practiced here, is the way I tried to do it originally because of my years in Korean karate - it was hard to break out of doing the chambering recoil action.

Mantis practitioner I was taught the same kick but different name. I did TKD prior so I also had the issue with breaking the habit of chambering recoil.

So am I to understand that there's no roundhouse kicks in Wing Chun? That feels so weird, considering how prevalent they are in like every style with kicks. Also is the "diagonal kick" mechanically different from the other similar kicks, or is it just done at a different angle?
@lionmartialartsacademy40143 жыл бұрын
For the most part the kicks aren’t too different mechanically, more so angles and intent of the kick. There’s no roundhouse in Wing Chun though many other arts do have it, briefly put roundhouses is great for sport fighting but not smaller more confined spaces like wc is meant to be used for.

It's just 3 kicks in wing chun. Check it. 1Front 2 inside kick 3 side kick and all are low. In wing chun wushu is sidekick sometimes. But mostly 3 basic kicks but 32 situations and Winkel 🥂 have fun

Yea the stomp kicks also oblique kicks as other styles puts them. They’re the safest kicks to throw if you’re the user even if you kick hard and miss you’re in good recovery position

Man ol’man. Where to start. These kicks are bad and poorly explained. Your application and understanding is off.
