Wow that's a very interesting method. I've never heard of it at all. Reinterpreting signals in the body to relieve pain is a new thing to me.

Tim, hydration is the most important thing for me. Ultimately its arthritis and staying hydrated is the heathest step to a strong back

I am obsessed with hydration but it's also tension, the mind wanting or not wanting and body tenses up.

I don't think the whole arm movement and floating is what makes this work, this is all distraction to get you to play along and get your mind in a supple state so that it is open to suggestion, while you're distracted from the pain the doctor can explain what reframing is and that part sounds like the bit that can make a huge difference. The physical exercise that goes along with it is more there for the ritual aspect, to remind yourself of what impressive control you can exert through your mind.

Given how much of a voracious learner and experimenter Tim is, he’s probably tried everything which points to the root cause being more emotional/psychological, as a lot of chronic pain is. If it’s gone on for years, reprocessing the pain signals is going to be vital to recovery either way. Corrective and strengthening exercises don’t work longterm for a lot of people if the long held underlying tension isn’t released.
