Interesting video! One thing that I think is very important in regards to Wake in Fright when it comes to the kangaroo massacre scene is that in Australia at the time (and maybe still, I don't know) they had an overpopulation issue with the kangaroos and groups of hunters would have to go out and shoot some to keep the population steady. The director, Ted Kotcheff is very sensitive about animal violence and realizing that the hunt had to happen and that there was nothing to do to stop it, decided to join along and film it to be used in the film, rather than it just being for exploitation. It gives the film an extra punch that while definitely will turn some people off, adds to its chaotic nature and they were definitely NOT killed for the sake of the film. Just thought I'd give a heads up in regards to that scene.
@JohnDoe-wq5eu

It's a little off topic but I hope they put that meat to good use. I personally kind of want to try kangaroo/wallaby meat. I've heard it's actually pretty good and not very gamey. I mean overpopulation is still a problem as far as I know, they try to keep their numbers down and I just hope that meat doesn't go to waste.
@tessfabled4115
@tessfabled4115 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah we still have an overpopulation problem with them haha, kangaroo meat isn't super uncommon in supermarkets, although you see it mostly as steaks and pet food. We're like the only country that eats both of its' national emblems... XD

Hunting causes a decline in competition among animals and also make certain species thrive and or be wiped out thus, leading to in imbalance and a continuation of the issue. Not to mention its only fucked up psychos who take take great pleasure in murdering and the suffering of animals who hunt.
@stoicstrawberries
@stoicstrawberries 3 жыл бұрын
@@_Apostate When the hunter respects their prey, there is no suffering to be found. The death is quick and painless. It is actually a pretty neutral practice, I think. Humans have our weapons, just like how predators in the wild do! Edit: ‘Hunter’ was capitalized.
@lukeseguin1875
@lukeseguin1875 3 жыл бұрын
@@_Apostate I just wanted to add something here. I share your distaste for hunting, especially for sport, but I think you have missed an important factor here. Non native species. When European setters made it to Australia they brought animals that disrupted the natural food chain. The predators of kangaroos were wiped out by humans, particularly the Tasmanian fox, but also other wild dogs and wolves that humans effected. I honestly don't think there is a way for humans to settle Australia that doesn't cause kangaroo overpopulation. Sterilization is probably the more humane solution but it's too expense. My home of NJ has the same problem with deer.

There's two other songs that Weird Al has said he's embarrassed about making, those being "One More Minute" and "Eat It", the former due to the serious tone the song has due to Al suffering from a then-recent breakup and the song being dedicated to her, with Al even tearing apart a photo of her during the performance and singing about how he'd rather swallow broken glass than reconcile with her, and the latter due to Al feeling like it mocked people with eating disorders, which isn't the type of humor Al normally does.

The original drawings for All Dogs were kept in a storage unit that was also shared by a banking company. Sadly, the bank needed more space in that storage for some reason, and threw the drawings into a paper shredder. Source: I studied under some Bluth animators that became lecturers over a decade ago. They'd thankfully taken some production art with them when the Sullivan - Bluth studio in Dublin folded, so SOME art is preserved.

I get the strong feeling most Don Bluth films felt the sting of the editors blade more than a few times. On top of all dogs go to heaven (which I am sort of surprised about but not too much) there was land before time which apparently was much darker originally than what we ever got. (which actually is incredible considering how dark and sad the version we got still is) lt's hard to believe that somewhere out there is a completely uncut version of all dogs go to heaven. I mean I hope it's still out there and still in fairly decent condition.

I know for certain that _The Land Before Time_ at least had a major cut that would have helped if they'd left it in. I could never figure out why the narrator said that Cera "was too proud to admit that she was going the wrong way." It turned out that there's a cut scene where she and Little Foot split off and she leads some dinosaurs "her way." I wish they'd explained it somehow ... anyway, you are probably righ.

@@daffers2345 Kids movies or movies made for kids as the primary audience are interesting because I noticed much like shows for kids there can be gaping holes in the continuity/story or things that don't quite match up but as a kid you just kind of ignore it and keep watching. I was watching a video on the show Big bad beetleborgs one of the many many many shows where they just took footage already created for Japanese shows and spliced it together with stuff they made to try to make it all make sense in some way and also make it for the audience in a totally different country. It's fascinating to see just how incongruous it all really is and how they basically just had to fit the pieces together to make it work. Now any adult would look at that and say wait a second all sorts of things are wrong here but a kid wouldn't notice it at all. A kids brain just doesn't see these things it's not how our brains work when we're younger.

The Mr. Potatohead Show was a weird one. It's one of those show's that was playing to an audience outside the demographic. Mr. Potatohead is usually considered a preschool toy, but the series was intended for older kids, if not adults who would actually get offbeat 90's humor. Say, the Freakazoid audience. I wouldn't know how far a 14th episode would be into production, but considering the last two episodes have the title "Not with a Bang" as in "so it ends, not with a bang, but a whimper," it sounds like the show was rushed to cancellation. A 14th episode sounds like it could have very well been a standard episode, maybe the actual 12th episode, but was either never finished, or was converted to the series finale.
@daffers2345

It reminds me of the short-lived _Mr. Meaty._ I always thought it would have done better on a channel like Comedy Central, as it did not really seem aimed at kids.
@mightyfilm

I never actually saw an episode of that, but remembered a bunch of parental groups whining that it promoted fast food. And again, never actually saw it but knew that couldn't possibly be the case, and if anything would have made the kid audience become lifetime health nuts. It definitely felt like something for a teen audience, as the slightly older kid audience would probably dismiss the puppet show angle as preschoolish. Mr. Potatohead however is marketed as a preschool toy and the first Mr. Potatohead series, an animated series about the Potatohead kids, was indeed a preschool series. At the time he was in Toy Story, sure, bit I'm sure older kids wouldn't get into a puppet series about a young kid's toy, no matter how much sardonic showbiz deprecation humor they filled it with. Disappointed that Hasbro didn't even bother rerunning it on their short lived network.

The Jerkbeast series is kinda lost again, because the creators are unexpectedly trying to scrub it off the internet, (including oddly the more cleaner chat roulette bits with Jerkbeast) and the official Jerkbeast site is now just a message asking people not to reupload the series, and let it fade into obscurity... I guess they must be ashamed of it now, but I think most new fans of it understand they were just kidding around, and trolling in the show, and weren't really out to upset, or offend anyone.

Not that this relates to the video, but does anyone remember Idaten Jump? It was an anime that aired on Cartoon Network for a while in 2006 before it stopped being aired. It was about some kid that competed with others with bikes and that’s all I remember of it. I wish I’d videotaped it before it went off the air, and apparently it’s lost media now, some episodes are lost of the dub. Does anyone remember this show or know if any of it (the dub, that is) has been found? It was pretty obscure, I only barely remember the show and this is the only lost media stuff I even remember watching. Also great video. Keep it up.

Jerkbeast actually sounds like it'd be pretty good if the creators knew just a SMIDGE of restraint when it comes to things like the whole cursing at children thing. Homophobia can be played for comedy (if done correctly), but I can't see anything lasting too long when you abuse actual children. Edit: Dang, I really did like Destroy Build Destroy. And Hole in the wall!

@@larrychilders6599 I imagine jerkbeast would have been cursing at an actual kid that called into the show? If so, that's a bit different than hiring a child actor and calling them a dickhead or something.

Considering what language I was using at age 10 I don't see the problem. That kid knew what show he was calling into.It's not like he stumbled onto a snuff (in the loose definition) video while downloading stuff of Kazaa... oh wait that also happened to a lot of us.

@@LordMegatherium Believe me, I saw my fair share of shit back in the day, too. However, its still not good for the adults to sling curses at call in children even if the kids know what they get into. Still, I did say a smidge of restraint. I'd call a call-in kid a bitch, or something, if it was clear that they were there for it. Calling them something crazy like a cum-guzzling jizz brain will NEVER be on the menu though.
