Android TV is the best now. if can't afford new TV, just buy the MI TV Box. No cable/setop box needed. Just Jio or Airtel number with which you can use JioTV or Airtel Xtreme. thats it. use apps like Telegram, CinemaHD, etc and get all channels and TV shows and Movies for free. have ditched Cable/setop box since 2 years. Not going back.

What I use to kill background apps is alt + tab and gives similar window to see recent apps just like in any Android phone then you can easily kill the apps. Of course I'm using a wireless keyboard n mice with my tv

You should rather be saying there are a lot of apps on aptoide TV that you will find will hack your phone. Aptoide is where you download apps from other ppls sub store. Not only was your account passwords leaked because they saved it on plain text file, but you are at the mercy of that person's sub store from whom you will be downloading his app or rather his modified version of app. Apk pure has verified apps only, unfortunately since few versions its layout on TV is sideways (portrait mode) Hal launcher anyone? Any advanced Android TV user will have minimum 2 things. Hal launcher to nicely view the sideloaded apps, and layout your TV channels into game channel, video channel etc. As bonus it will auto rotate phone apps to landscape mode. Works 99 percent. And FileKommander. Download your apks into FileKommandsr so that you have a backup of the apps to reinstall quickly, incase u need to format or reset your TV. It is Android and you are in exploration mode after all.

One thing that I am surprised at is that all of the info and references that I have found so far don't mention that it's possible to hook up a wired keyboard and mouse using a USB hub plugged into the TV's USB port... makes using the menus, logins, etc much easier than the remote... I assume that it's also possible to connect BT KB and Mice once I figure things out, but, until then...

The "Send Files To TV" app is dangerous in it's default configuration. The "RECEIVE" button does nothing other than show you a list of received files. The real option to control the receiving of files is in Settings an is always on by default. It allows anyone on the same WiFi network to send anything to the downloads folder on your phone, even when the app isn't visibility running. Imagine if some weirdo decides to send some dodgy pics to your daughter's phone while you're all in the pub together.

This is a problem that lies in the data saving feature. When you try to cast your screen via Chromecast via a common WiFi, you gotta turn off data saver for that network. Turn it of and reconnect. 👍
