While these first two factors are more specific to each family and household, there are certain design tricks that can make great strides in improving the third. In this elegant mudroom, the caned cabinet fronts serve practical and decorative purposes. They "provide airflow" to cabinets that hold farm clothes, boots, hats, and gloves, and their natural color breaks up the green woodwork. Such high-traffic areas can feel cluttered, but thoughtful details like caning can help calm the chaos.
While the concept might seem to clash, this bedroom includes rich colors and prints from patchwork textiles to ceramic items and paint, so it's only fitting that the artwork is multidimensional and unique too.
The bedroom gets great light throughout the day, so we wanted to go for a peachy color on the walls that would give it a nice glow with the sunlight. The bedroom feels layered in a comfortable way but not too busy-[you] feel very serene when you’re in the room.
I was inspired by tile and color to give a California kitchen a refresh. I borrowed square footage from the living room to build this bright walk-in pantry. It's complete with plenty of storage, tons of countertop space, and adorable cabinet skirts that soften the room.
The lesson here is that there are no downsides to practically any shade of blue. The artwork above the fireplace sets the tone for the bold color-blocking happening throughout the space, including the light green ceiling, the tonal walls and mantel, the Sputnik light, and the patterned chairs and drapes.
I loves a classic subway tile, it can be found using mosaics and penny tiles as well. If I'm really going for something special I'll select a hand-painted or marbled tile from somewhere like Balineum. Bonus tip: Customization's are having a moment in the tile industry, whether it's in your bathroom, kitchen, or bedroom!
Have ugly appliances or simply want to change things up? Cover them up with peel-and-stick wallpaper, as I did to the fridge and freezer in this kitchen.
You can mix colors and patterns that'll push the envelope but still remain stylish and authentic. Just take it from me, I did so in my own bedroom. My strong suit is color and pattern combination.
Start With A Vase And Think About Where Your Display Will Live:
Selecting a vase may seem like the last step in the flower-arranging process, but Joanna Gaines recommends making it your first port of call. "I always start with the vase, as not all flowers work with all styles,” she explains. “Obviously, this is down to personal taste, but most often we use a medium-sized vase that has a fluted shape at the top.
This gives the arrangement a better shape than a vase with straight sides.” Once you’ve settled on the silhouette, you can think about design - decide whether you want to go for something bright and bold, like a print or statement color, or something simpler, such as a glass vase.
If you already have your faux flowers in mind, be sure to choose a vase that will complement your display.It’s also crucial to determine where your arrangement is going to live before you begin creating it. “If it’s on a sideboard or console without a mirror behind it, you could make half an arrangement as you don’t need flowers at the back and that works out a lot cheaper.”
For a dining table, you don’t want too tall a vase or it will obstruct the view across the table. “Hallways are popular locations for faux bouquets, as well as kitchen islands,” Joanna Gaines adds.

You should point out that if people cut the stems, there is wire in the middle that needs to be protected from water. I dip my stem ends in clear nail polish. Allow to dry and repeat a few times so that the wire is protected from rusting.
