Very silly money! For the amount of times most people would use them per year you may as well go glamping. Or just get a hammock and a bivvy would be much cheaper👌

Nicholas Ray I have a couple of friends who purchased RTTs in 2018. They both leave the tent always always fitted and avg 20+ overnight trips last year vs five in 2017 - excluding school holidays. You are correct that it didn’t increase their longer trips, but they found having the tent (always on) allowed them to have a quick overnight, which is what I do as well. I have the iKamper Mini and yes, expensive but like my friends, leave it always on.

Overlanding has become affordable. Just equip your car with a roof top tent and enjoy camping! Tell us what you think about this way of exploring the nature i the comments below.
@catalinpastiu67406 жыл бұрын
I used to be interested in these tents until I realized that if you have a SUV you don't need a tent at all, you can fold down the seats and put a mattress inside. If you want to camp just get a regular tent, or, if you don't want to sleep on the ground, a tent cot - much cheaper and longer lasting.
@MustSeeTech6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Folded seats and a mattress is indeed a viable solution if you are traveling alone or as a couple, but what if you need to sleep 4? The roof top tent would be a great solution, don't you agree? Though I can't argue with the tent cot, you beat me there.
@Naessey4 жыл бұрын
catalin pastiu I felt exactly the same way until I purchased a iKamper Mini and would never go back. Having the extra room and ability to camp in less ‘camp friendly’ environments has opened up a number of new avenues. Yes, camping in the SUV is cheaper, but you are restricted on carrying food, water, solar and ability to explore.

Nice, but how well do they handle wind? Would love to see how these pop-up tents do with a 30 MPH wind.
@MustSeeTech5 жыл бұрын
Hi, Frank. That is a valid concern. I believe they should hold just ok. The Skycamp, for example, has been tested against 40mph winds
@wilfredoramirez62815 жыл бұрын
Can they withstand gusts of wind? and at what speed

Ridiculously Unaffordable when compared to a regular tent. The rack to install these costs extra as well. We tend to camp around 50 nights a year and still can’t commit to such a crazy price.

It degrades mileage 10% or more on highway and possibly makes noise. Can have a glamping set up for far less.

Nice to know options... but the word affordable certainly doesnt really fit here... I am camping lover, and here in Venezuela off-roading and setting camp has a huge following ... but paying 2 thousand or more for a tent is really a high price, however most enthusiast go for it because the convenience that it gives to the camping experience. They are great, but really not affordable to the average person...

Hi. Thanks for your feedback. Appreciate it. Many of these tents include additional features, like lights, USB ports, etc. The cost of the material is indeed minimal, but the tech and the construction itself cost money

Immer wieder interessant, welche Arten es von Dachzelten gibt. Fahren selber jetzt seid einem Jahr mit Dachzelt durch die Länder und sind begeistert. How do the car roofs stand up to the weight? Every roof rack I have seen from Thule etc is rated at 75 odd kilos. These tents weigh that much before anyone even climbs inside. Don't they damage the roof of the car? Could be even more expensive camping trip then!
@cindylong6244 жыл бұрын
My guess would be these are factory installed roof racks
@MrUberjan11 ай бұрын
The 75kg is for when the car is moving. The biggest pull on the roof rack is because of the winds on high speed. When youre standing still you can easily load a lot more weight on the car.
