These creatures are absolutely amazing. I am fascinated every time I see them. I have seen many encounters where humans remain calm and the orcas tend to remain the same. An interaction with one would be a great gift.

they're absolutely gorgeous creatures. And no doubt about it their interaction with us is absolutely incredible. They're also VERY careful around us. I mean look at those tail slaps near us. show offs! The kayaker swimming with them off of NZ is very common there. All those Orcas around the islands interact with humans swimming and diving amongst them. incredible experiences. In the past 30 years we have learned so much more about them thanks to researchers like Dr Ingrid Visser that plies these NZ waters.

The very first clip, of the orca trying to have a bit of a chat is so sweet. So so many of our fellow creatures are so interested in communicating with us. Mostly, for thousands and thousands of years, our response to this has been to kill them horribly and brutally. Humans are the monsters.

My doctor has a photo on his wall of on Orca just heading full speed towards their kayaks all you can see is the bow wave in front of it, when it reached them it just dived under came up the other side and carried on,they all thought they were going to be capsized ,hair raising moment ☺

When the penguin jumped in the boat I was picturing Optimus Prime in Transformers: "There's no way to free bumblebee without harming the humans." One of the orcas was probably like "ah come on we can still get it" and the mom orca was probably saying "There's no way to get the penguin without harming the humans."

Around the Straight of Gibraltar Orcas are know for playing/attacking boats. Possible mainly sailboats (because of the big rudderfin). So the once in the video did not learn this behaviour, or it is really the rudders that look like big fins.

I highly doubt they were after the penguin. Orca's are very playful and just having some fun. They were not in hungry mode at all. If you know how fast Orca's are then you know the penguin was no match if the Orca was really trying to get it. But ya, the penguin was terrified because look at the size of the penguin to the Orca.
