The trick is that when you start thinking you're not going to get it, you tend not to get it but when you just think about the numbers and letters it becomes much easier.

you have to remember, most brits have been playing along to this game for 40+ years. Started in the early 80s. Its actually older than i am. So dont feel bad about not being good at it yet, just enjoy the jokes and play along. Thats the point of this show.

Took me a few mins, but before I watch the answer: 25x2 =50, 8+4 =12 times together gives 600, then 5+7 = 12, 600 - 12 = 588 ;)

John always puts down the times tables for the big numbers before the start of the programme so he is ready to go in the numbers rounds. At least he used to do. I suspect that he has done it for so long now he probably knows them off by heart . It might help you Jodi if you did the same.
@kieranclarges25149 ай бұрын
TIP FOR JODI... NICK GO GET A CUP OF COFFEE! Write down the "times tables" for 75, 25 and any other you may be slower on and place it next to you to use as a "cheat sheet"... This IS within the rules and is suggested in later episodes by Rachel Riley. Also I personally find it easier to go over the number and work backwards... Hope this helps you wipe the smug look of Nicks face. lol.
@DavidSmith-cx8dg9 ай бұрын

24 Points from the first 2 parts First Numbers game 583 is the closest I got in the time 583=(25*2+8-5)*(4+7) But in the paused added time I got it with 588=(25*5+2*7+8)*4 by working off of Nicks start of 125*4 and realizing if I made 22 before the *4 we'd made it First letters round: I wish Thymial (Of or relating to the Thymus) was a word. But I don't think it is, so I would have had to lock in with Thyme for 5 And I wasn't even close on the conundrum (Honestly I don't think I've ever got one. I'm just more of a math person than a letters person End Score if I was on the show=29 End score if I'm allowed to use the added time when you have things paused=42
@jonbolton33769 ай бұрын
That last round i got Thalium, i was acting smug. Until Susie didn't mention it, so i googled it. What idiot put a second L in it? I don't care, Sean and Jon don't, i'm spelling it with 1 L lol.
@BunniMonster9 ай бұрын
Not only is pausing it to work for triple the allowed time not in the spirit of the game, it's also as dull as dishwater looking at the tops of your heads while you sit there silently cheating.
@garlichr9 ай бұрын
I disagree. It's fun watching them play around with the numbers. Lighten up.
@BunniMonster9 ай бұрын
@@garlichr You'd love Sunday Service, plenty of heads bowed in silence for ages. They say they want to play along, I encourage them to. What they are doing is not playing along though, it is just cheating. By working through the entire timer, pausing and then continuing to work on it for minutes on end until they get fed up themselves, not only are they cheating and leaving us with dead air they're also missing a load of the comedy for no reason whatsoever. If they were following the timer it'd be understandable to miss those little bits just like the contestants do but why bother ignoring the show during the timer if they're just going to pause it anyway until they're satisfied? Criticism is important for creators to improve. 1 critical voice is more valuable than 10 in praise. People will quickly tire when a quarter of the videos are a silent, frozen dedication to the human scalp.

@dannykent61909 ай бұрын
Assuming you're referring to them taking extra time on every problem, I don't think it's fair to call the "critics" trolls. I'm not going to get angry about it like some people might, but it's legitimately outside the rules of the game and not particularly thrilling to watch. There is absolutely no shame in not getting the answer in 30 seconds. Obviously they can play however they want to, but at a certain point they might start to lose viewers.

I have new hope You did less naff... pretty good actually May i say this though. If you were in England and did as bad as you did the 1st time, the kids would have your life... thry would torture you with it and they would make sure the next years lot watched it so the could persecute you too. Kids live for these opportunities I've opened an account on KZbin just to subscribe to you, i enjoy your stuff so much. I love you have such a good sence of humour Love from England ❤

Jodi, don’t worry about not doing well at the games, I know you’re a teacher but you could only be teaching elementary school grade 2 or 3 surely, so you wouldn’t need any of this. Just as well I would have thought🤔🙄 Edit: Also, the material you mentioned is spelt, “tulle,” not “tule.” Wow, it’s lucky for you that word isn’t going to come up in early elementary school! 😂

10yr old me would beat you 😂😂 but i would watch countdown every day after school. A conundrum tip (it's not guaranteed) but if there's an I N G in there there's a good chance that's what the word meant ends with it so concentrate on the other letters...thats how i got this and many others over time.

Teachers - They have more fun problem solving than listening to Jimmy (and co!)'s jokes! lol {Probably Engineers, Surveyors and a ton of other career professionals too I suppose) Honestly, mathsss is not my thing, creative writing is more my thing but that doesn't make me naturally good at re-arranging letters to find words, so I just sit back and watch the experts.
