They’re definitely actors, I’ve had a casting call for Cats does Countdown - not sure if that bits actually aired now so can’t say what it involved, but I’m not fully sure what the specific role was either as they kept the info pretty limited

I've watched Cats Does Countdown hundreds of times... I've got no idea what Jimmy does in the middle of the rounds cos I'm not paying attention. Except for the kittens.

When I was typing a comment about how it's really not that important to pay super close attention to Jimmy during those segments, I was thinking to myself... except for the kittens.

you should jump a bit through the seasons. No need to do it chronologically. Or try a real countdown, which has a lot more rounds. There is a wonderful historical one where (young) Alex Horne was a actual contestant. ( Countdown - Tuesday 26th August 2008 on youtube )

At about 10.50... I cannot believe you actually said "...they seem like they could CARE LESS..." 🤔 - Along with so many Brits, this is a pet hate that we have with Americans not realising it makes NO SENSE.! The 'saying' is actually "COULDN'T care less..." 😮 Please do better, especially as a teacher... 😂😂😂
@howinnocentistheday9 ай бұрын
From a grammatical perspective, it doesn't make sense, but from a linguistic descriptivist perspective, it's an accepted alternative that has established itself as standard in American English. It's even in the Cambridge dictionary. It's just more like an idiom over there than a phrase to be taken literally as, if taken literally, it obviously means the opposite. I don't think it's indicative of someone's intelligence or ability to teach as it's purely dialectical.
@stewedfishproductions95549 ай бұрын
@@howinnocentistheday May I direct you to put into YT:. 'David Mitchell - I couldn't care less' This is just one example of how much this particular phrase is the subject of debate in the UK - LOL It may be accepted in the US, but it really does cause u s to chuckle at Americans incorrect use of the English language... 😂😂😂
@howinnocentistheday9 ай бұрын
@@stewedfishproductions9554 I've seen that video lol. I know it's contentious over here and I get it. It's just very prescriptive.
@natmanprime42959 ай бұрын
@@howinnocentistheday exactly. its like "having your cake and eating it" or "all things being equal". it should go "eating your cake and still having it" and "all OTHER things being equal"
