To give people an idea of how harmful it can be to judge someone for experiencing suicidal ideation, I had my first major depressive episode when I was nine years old, and I was experiencing active suicidal ideation. I lived in the Bible belt, and, even though, I was not a fundamentalist, and I was raised in a very healthy and supportive church community, a classmate once said that people who "kill themselves go to Hell." I was not at my questioning phase yet, and, since I already had extremely low self esteem and I hated myself, hearing that really freaked me out. I suffered in silence for two years. I often look back on that time of my life, and wonder how things might have gone differently if I had told someone how I was feeling. Also, therapy and medication saved my life.

Just wanted to say...between your series/podcast/YT channel, FundieFridays, some cult-related podcasts on Spotify (eg. Was I In A Cult?) I came to see not just the direct messages (even indirect ones, really) but saw how my father and I had a rather cultic relationship especially since Mum, who was our buffer, passed away in August 2021. We had huge fights, lived in this toxic relationship, environment etc. But as I watched YT, funnily enough, to get away from him....I began to understand how HE came to be as he is (he has CPTSD + borderline) and how it in turn impacted me, how I in turn was beginning to exhibit the complementary behaviors he'd display towards me.... And now we are in family therapy. It isn't easy, but we're doing...so much better. It's early days, still, but it beats the past. I mentioned that other Spotify podcast on purpose. CULTS are not just....the ones we typically think of. The whole cultic relationship was new to me. And while many other families with such a dynamic (um, both actual families and those Cults calling themselves THE family or whatnot) have had it way worse, it all has truly helped me, us...my dad's relationship with my sis and we now get to see my Lil nephews so much more!! So...THANK YOU!!

It's a really interesting point. Something in the rhetoric specific to Mormonism. Ex-mormons would have way more to say about it, and I would be so curious to here, I do wonder if it has something to do with a theme of like "magical thinking" characteristics. An elevated feeling of self-importance -- that the entire world, including God, revolves around their personal thoughts, feelings, beliefs, actions, decisions. That they are SO important that exclusively know and define right/wrong, good/bad, and are the heroes destined to defend it. 🙄 I don't want to assume that relates back to LDS but I feel like I can see those characteristics involved in the offshoots. Although those things may just be cult things. But it calls into question the-chicken-or-the-egg Full disclosure I haven't finished the vid yet

Ruby Franke is the kind of person who hides behind tough "love" and says things like "well I'm the only one who's brave enough to be honest" when called out on her bullshit. I'm 100% sure that she's also the kind of person who immediately starts acting like a victim when criticized. The people who scream hardest about being the only ones who know the truth are usually the first to freak out when presented with actual truth.
@IAmNotAWoodenDuck2 жыл бұрын
Watching the video further just makes me so sad. Ruby doesn't love children. If she truly loved truth and principles and protection and children, she would try to do her actual best. She wouldn't stubbornly refuse to learn how to help, she wouldn't ignore people's warnings about what she's doing, she wouldn't talk about how if literal CHILDREN need help, they should learn to do it themselves. Ruby might think she's full of love, but she's so blinded by all the horrific lies she believes that I couldn't begrudge anyone who thinks she hates her own children.
@KK-mx6oh2 жыл бұрын
So the timeline is probably: they send their child to that program because it could be a quick effective solution, then meet Jodi as the therapist (who's no coincidence Mormon), Jodi validates Ruby's approach, enhances it, pushes it farther, and makes Ruby feel like she's right and has backing on what she thinks is true and feels like she has control over her family back. In exchange for using her social media platforms. And Ruby started life coach books at least before the move, and I've always thought the move to the new house was a whole new dynamic. With Connexions this makes sense. The family probably disagrees with the first action of sending them but then didn't think Ruby (and Kevin) could take it further. I see why Ruby is in this with Jodi and the brand is the two of them. Ruby gives Jodi a MUCH bigger platform. What's hard is everything that they talk about is how Ruby thinks and how she wants to control her - six - kids. And thanks to tiktok and Flo Rida, cries when people don't validate her efforts and are clearly not on her side. But also the fact that her kids' mental health will be changed because of this. And has been probably.

ConneXions does not offer therapy or counseling. We offer a completely different modality of healing that is an alternative to the psychology world. Jodi has helped thousands of people heal when they learned to take responsibility for their thoughts, feelings, and actions, including Ruby herself. We invite you to reconsider the judgments you're making simply based on some social media posts you have seen. If you're open to consider another way of thinking, we are always available to help you heal and create joy in your life and relationships.

Running water, pasteurized milk, and anesthesia are all also new things that people lived for centuries without, and it's still pretty well accepted that it's a good thing and we shouldn't go back to the old way of doing it. Privacy is in that same boat.

As a school psychologist with a degree in educational psychology, I don't claim Jodi as one of us... 😬 Also, with my degree I would not claim to be a therapist. I work in the school as a mental health professional, but would need to have my Ph.D. or be supervised by an outside provider to do anything outside the school setting.

The red ones need to be re-reviewed, I'd say.

As someone who grew up in an emotionally abusive religious family. Ruby shows online what she thinks is her BEST actions. So what we don’t see is100% worse than what we do see,so their. “Well we don’t see her whole. Life”. Logic is flawed, and those saying it clearly have NEVER had. To. Suffer. Any kind ofabuse.

Ruby remains silent to the point that she didn't even ask about her children. It screams guilty.
