8 passengers just exemplifies why there needs to be some kind of regulation on KZbin in regards to how family channels operate in regards to how children are displayed, it’s absolutely abhorrent this women exploits the development of her children for profit, none of which seemingly seeing a dime of, and then having the nerve to have her children pay her so they can live on their own, giving very much jeanette mcurdy’s mom

This is straight-up abusive. And there will be people that say “well, you have no right to tell someone how to parent”. Uh, yes we can. It’s called child welfare laws. This woman is a terrible, terrible person. There is no excuse, no justifiable reason for it.

Idk about Jodi but I wouldn't be surprised if Ruby legit thought that this way of parenting based on her POV would better her children. I've seen people who justify similar behavour reckoning that their kids will go 'astray' otherwise :/

They don't help their kids even when they're depressed I'm so scared they're going to push one of their children to k*ll themselves and then act like they did nothing wrong.

It's awful. The reason it feels the same is because in both situations the family is/was Mormon. I left the church when I was 17, it's genuinely a cult.

My mum was super religious and she treated me and my brothers so differently that it triggered severe contamination ocd. The therapist said it was the only way my brain could cope and try to have some control over my environment and teenage years. She was also so obsessed with modesty that it pushed me the the opposite direction to the point I hate wearing clothes and will wear the most revealing things I can find because that how I am most comfortable. My brothers could do nothing wrong just because they were boys but I was always shamed, mocked, put down, treated like I was inferior for being a girl. This sounds awful to say but when she died when I was 19 there was a small part of me that was relieved because it made my life so much easier, not a little but but so much. Religion can sometimes make people very unreasonable parents and they can’t even see it!! I feel so bad for her kids and hope they cope with realising her behaviour and treatment is not okay.

I hope you’re doing better now and don’t feel ashamed for feeling that a weight was lifted with her passing because in all honesty it would be like a weight was lifted with her passing, you did not deserve to be treated that way you didn’t ask to be born you couldn’t choose your gender. I despise anyone that weaponizes religion it’s disgusting! I’m a spiritual person not really religious and Karma is a real B , sending you light love and healing so you can move ahead without all those nasty thoughts in your head . You’re worthy of all the good things life has to offer, you’re beautiful you deserve love in whatever form your heart wants if you want to roam naked in a nudist colony then do it do whatever the heck you want to do as long as you’re safe and nobody is getting hurt . Opinion’s of others don’t matter as long as you’re happy, I wish you all the happiness life has to offer .

Every time these parents are brought up it's always them witholding necessities or patting themselves on the back for providing them. Kids deserve a safe place to live, eat, sleep. They also need a social life and have a right to privacy. They deserve happiness and laughter, those shouldn't be policed. It reminds me of my mom who wouldn't let me have friends or even eat full meals. And when I'd confront her she'd be like "well I'm giving you a roof over your head". This has the same vibes

It's still wild to me that people will say "I couldn't watch _____ because of my parents. I feel like I missed out." like I know friends of mine couldn't watch Yu-Gi-Oh, anime in general, Oh Danny Phantom because ghosts are bad, Harry Potter cause "THEM CHILDREN'S BOOKS IS THE DEVIL'S WORK!" let's see, The Nightmare Before Christmas because it was "satanic", another friend of mine couldn't watch star wars, she also couldn't watch Fantasia cause it had magic in it. I feel SO bad for children in deeply religious households and households with controlling asf parents who'd rather see their kids suffer than have fun and make friends through certain popular media. Honestly without Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Kingdom Hearts, Avatar the Last Airbender, Danny Phantom I never would've made friends in middle school and high school cause I was so shy. But when I realized that other people were into the same things I was me to really connect with people, and make friends even though I was terrified of making friends. But the idea of not being able to share my interests with anyone was scarier. So I made that leap and asked "hey you watch that?" and so every week after a new episode, of Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh Avatar the last Airbender was HUGE when I was in high school, we'd GUSH about it during lunch or recess lol. I actually think it was Yu-Gi-Oh the anime and Pokemon that made me some life long friends above anything else. I can't imagine my life without those works and without those friends I made even though we're all off doing our own things. Humans are social creatures. And it makes me sad to think that this group could be putting kids into isolation because of their bigotry and idiocy that's taken as actual advice. I know what isolation feels like because I self inflicted that upon me cause of my shyness. Sure some people called me a nerd for what I liked, but I had my friends who also liked those things, and so it didn't matter what others thought.

I worked in a book store during the Harry Potter years. It was wild how many parents wouldn't let their kids read them because HP didn't recognize Jesus Christ as his lord and savior and then ask about Star Wars books. I never pointed that Luke also uses magic and never mentions Jesus. These kids had such limited access to fiction that I couldn't stamp that out.

I feel really bad for the kids. I can’t imagine the embarrassment and anxiety they feel because of the actions of their parents, particularly Ruby Woo. Seeing all the thumbnails for the videos about their family makes me sad thinking about how all of this is affecting the kids.

Some parents are so strange.. why would you have kids and then expect them to pay you for basic necessities. I get it if they were 18+ and they had a job and the family was struggling financially, but on a normal basis that’s just weird !

And I don’t doubt she probably treats her daughter worse than her sons, if your a girl and lived with boy siblings you’ll know mothers tend to give more privileges to their sons that they’d demean their daughter for, I’m an only child but I even see it with my mom and her nephew, she lets him get away with EVERYTHING but when I was his age and if I even thought about doing what he did I’d get my tv or my video games taken away even if it was minuscule 😭

She literally explained child abuse and not parenting. Parenting you should be there for your kids emotionally and physically support them. Giving them a roof over their head and food is the bare minimum and parents who kick their kids out at 18. Shame on you. You don’t stop being a parent at 18.

A parent's role is LITERALLY to make sure their child is accepted and liked by their peers. If not, the child will not develop properly. It's that simple. Children have to be successfully socialised from a young age, and it's the parent's job the facilitate that.

The job of a parent is to take care of a child's general wellbeing, which does include their mental wellbeing and yeah that has a lot to do with them being happy, if you are making your child miserable and sabotaging their lives (and by proxy futures) - you are not a good parent.

She won’t have a relationship with her kids after they’re adults. My mom had a similar parenting style and now that I’m an adult, I never talk to her. She tries to call and text, and I respond sometimes but overall I feel little to nothing about her and I try not to think about my experiences with her as a parent because it only makes me want to distant myself from her even more than I already do.

I've really only started pay attention to this family when the Connextions thing started so I've really only heard about Ruby being totally awful. Is the dad as awful or is me more of the doormat type who is too much of a coward to defend himself or the kids?

Parents using their kids for money those kids have absolutely zero privacy everything is online for anyone to view, they are treated horrible and told what to say when the camera is on all for the almighty dollar. There needs to be guidelines across all platforms where minors are involved, money needs to be put aside for each child for starters second is there needs to be limits put on what can be in the vlogs privacy needs to be first and foremost. These kids are going to have major issues that will follow them into adulthood the trauma these kids have endured has to be horrible, not to mention they will definitely not want their Parents in their life once they are of age to leave they will run as fast as they can or the opposite they won’t have a clue how to function without someone controlling every aspect of their life . These Parents need CPS to get involved to make sure it’s even a safe environment and their needs are being met , IMO those kids needs to be removed and counselling needs to be done to see if they’re mentally well.
