🎮🎨 In this lesson, I'll guide you through the process of combining your sequentially numbered images into a single sprite sheet file. Let's get started! 🖼️
🌟 Key Highlights:
Opening Image Sequences: If you've rendered your animations with different camera angles, you'll have sequentially numbered images for each camera in a folder. Open the first image by double-clicking on it, and Aprite will ask if you want to open all the files belonging to this as an animation. Accept and wait for Aprite to load them in order on the timeline.
Color Palette: On the left, you'll find a palette of 256 colors automatically extracted from the image. Organize the palette as needed. You can also observe the level of anti-aliasing applied to your render in detail against the transparent background.
Efficient Functions: Familiarize yourself with Aprite's keyboard shortcuts to save time efficiently. Functions include creating empty frames and creating tags on the timeline, allowing you to organize your animation into segments that you can rename as you like.
Combining Sequences: If you've rendered animations with different camera orientations, open the sequences and combine them into a single file. Use your file explorer's search functions to filter and locate the beginning of each rendered sequence, making the process more efficient.
Customizing Tags: Create tags for each animation by selecting all the frames belonging to that animation and using the Frames menu to create a new tag. Assign it a name. Create custom keyboard shortcuts for tag creation to optimize your workflow.
Adding Empty Frames: Depending on your Sprite sheet arrangement, you may need to add empty frames at the end of each animation. Use the "Create Empty Frames" function to reach your desired total frame count.
Save Master File: Once all these steps are completed, save your master file in Aprite format outside the render folder for easy access later. Your project is now ready for the final step of outputting your Sprite sheets.
In the next lesson, we'll explore how to generate Sprite sheets from your prepared project, getting you closer to integrating your animations into your preferred game engine. Stay tuned! 🚀
