My mother is 95 years old. She only had a 3rd grade education. Her short term memory has suffered in recent years. The one thing health care absolutely needs to do is make things simple for the elderly.

This might sound somewhat clinical, but I envision the development of new public facilities with an emphasis on preventive diagnosis and care. These facilities would integrate a range of healthcare professionals, including general practitioners, specialists, dentists, ophthalmologists, optometrists, physical therapists, massage therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other specialists, all working collaboratively to address the holistic needs of patients. In addition to highly skilled staff, these facilities would be equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology and feature a fully stocked on-site pharmacy. To optimize patient flow and resource utilization, an AI-enhanced scheduling system would be in place. In an ideal scenario, funding for these facilities would be provided through a Single-Payer healthcare system. Emphasizing preventative care would significantly reduce the risk of individuals slipping through the cracks, ultimately leading to a healthier and more robust society.

Great video as always! When you mentioned new skills or new teams, I loved the focus on the patient's voice, data, and experience (something that has always been critical to the health products that I build for my day job). However, I expected that you would also include data science expertise. Given the prediction of more care at home and RPM, that also means more data points - it will be critical to have strong skills to efficiently sift through the signal/noise. And for a future video, I would be interested in your team's perspective on the US's AI Bill of Right and the EU's AI Act and the implications for how this could influence future technology.

Love the vision. Biggest hurdles to achieving these shifts that I see will be Hospitals monetizing access to data (even if it is not theirs) which cuts off the raw material (data) and governments creating regulations that make it impossible to connect data linked to an individual. I believe the solutions to these 2 issues are personal EHRs and data compensation on an individual basis. Thoughts?

I think many hospitals have been monetizing anonimized patient data already.

I am modest: precise diagnoses and medications without side effects would be enough for me for now. I hope that AI will be of great help.

Solid video as usual. Could you do a video about HIPPA regulation in the US and how it impacts/hinders medical research? My wife works in AI and has an interest in medical research and talks about the issues with sharing patient data, even limited data, for research purposes and how hard it is to get. Also, it hinders the ability for doctors/hospitals/etc from sharing information with one another

Great idea but we try to make videos that are meant for a global audience, not only focusing on one country. Maybe we could combine HIPAA with GDPR.

Building off of this and some of the challenges with data portability (there's not broadly adopted standard for health care data and unlike other industries like aviation or finance, medical data includes both structured and unstructed data, which adds another layer of complexity), it would be interesting to hear your take on synthetic health data/patients as a tool that could be used for clinical training in the future.

Some of this tech I could see being common place some not. I can’t see myself or a lot of other people giving themselves blood test. I’d be too squeamish for that, also despite how people despise the medical ivory tower, I feel that it’s necessary on some level. People like and sort of need to have an expert tell them what to do.

First, do no harm. Stop addicting people to benzodiazepines and opiates - and getting away with it.
