Yeah, I went to a spoken word night recently. The visiting headline performer was an extremely glamorous good looking young woman with a fabulous huge afro. After her set, she said " I've been stared at in your city. It's because I'm black, isn't it? " I yelled out "No darling, it's because you're incredibly gorgeous!". It's a fact that its very hard for humans to look away from beauty, even though you know it's rude to stare. Also my city is full of every race but we're relaxed rather than glamourous here, so the gal stood out :)

My husband and I are an interracial couple I have experienced the weird questions more than he has... He was raised in a more interracial family so it was more of a normal thing for him... My family and friends had a lot of negative things to say which apparently made no difference because we have now been together 13 years... One experience he did have though when we first got together we worked together. His managers white girlfriend came on to him and confronted him on why he would choose a black ghetto girl when he could have gotten with a hot white babe... I was so mad about that, she didn't know anything about me. I grow up in the hood but, I was raised in the church and Catholic school. I never really socialized with my peers because my family was super strict... What was really funny about this is my husband actually has always been really attracted to only black dark skin girls... All his prior girlfriends looked like put you in the mind of Gabrielle Union or Kelly Rowland so I have always been like welp dang "I'm not even your type." 😂😂. (Very Beautiful Women).

Love the video! I'm Caucasian and my wife is African American. We've been together for almost 18 years and we sometimes still get the awkward stares and peculiar questions. Luckily we live in a pretty diverse area, so those incidences are less frequent now, then when we first met. The worst thing happened to me as a White man married to a Black woman was when the two police officers stopped me on a playground and asked me if my kids are my children and asked them "is this man your father"? I tried to laugh and joke with them but they were extremely serious. They asked me the names and birthdates of my kids and then asked them their names and ages to verify if I was not lying. Only after they run the ID check in their computer they relaxed and let me go. By this time I was not laughing at all and began to sweat. After that I turned it into a joke for my kids. But it didn't feel good at all to be a suspect of a crime.

I wonder where the people who asked the questions are from? I live in London, no one ever has a problem with interracial relationships nor mixed race kids. We wouldn't even think to ask questions like "do you worry your mixed children will be bullied".... When you live in really diverse places like London, interracial dating and mixed race kids aren't really a big deal. As a mixed person, I need to intervene. Please dont ignore the whole "worrying about bullying" part. Your child WILL be bullied no matter where you go. Please dont make this a negative, rather prepare your child for it by teaching them acceptance of themselves. I wish my parents prepared me for the bullying that comes with being mixed

George Cray my daughter is mixed (7yrs old) and yes she does get bullied about it. She came home one day and said to me; "mommy at school one of the kids told me that ppl that look like them aren't suppose to have hair like mine. Why is that?" (She is very bright with natural hair). I explained thing to her the best way I could. There's no real way to prepare a mixed child for everything that they are going to go through at that age. I try to take it day by day with her.

drembert2011 I doubb that child was bullying your kid. I think it was more of a self consciousness that the other kid had about their own hair (if it was a black child)

Love this, I'm Haitian too, my last name is Joseph as well(hey sis) and my boyfriend is American(black) . It was tough at first because, they wanted to keep the bloodline "pure". However, they've grown to love him as well

Thank you for this. This helps so much. I also have a new channel with my Chinese wife but every negative comment effects her alot. We (especially woman) need to have a very thick skin to be online. But we believe in our goal to bring to the world how different cultures can co-exist and will keep going.
