I’m almost certain that I will be relocating to Reno, Nevada. Originally, I was planning to go to Seattle; but the Reno-Sparks area is much more affordable, it’s a growing area, and it’s got everything I could ever need within the general area.

@@livinginrenonevada7075 One of the more important things I'm interested in is Reno's Healthcare system and insurance affordability. I know a new hospital was just finished (awesome!), so that's a plus. I also know about Nevada's strong position on Universal Healthcare, which is right up my alley. Vehicle choice and car insurance would be another great bullet point. Thanks for the invitation.

I would recommend Washington over Nevada. Reno is struggling right now with methamphetamines, homelessness, and a downtown that is pretty much a zombie zone. We have two seasons: winter and fire season basically - the smoke is terrible. Housing prices are not cheap by any means but I suppose that is relative. Do not move to sparks. Stay within McCarran loop

I've lived here for many years and water rationing is not a reality. The closest thing we've had to water rationing is alternate days of watering your lawns, but that's it. And watering a lawn daily is a waste of water anyway. Thanks for watching! Dave

It's because there over building here. Our mayor lines her pockets via the construction industry. They have pretty much drained the red rock aquafore, cancelled our air races and clogged our freeways.

How much are utilities, auto insurance. Is cold springs is a nice community.

Hi there...utilities are pretty reasonable. Ours is usually around $130 during the summer and $300 is dead of winter. But I use a swamp cooler and not an AC unit at my house which makes the summer bills pretty low. Auto insurance here in Washoe County is cheaper than a lot of surrounding areas. Way cheaper I'm told than California for sure. Cold Springs has a wide variety of options in a relatively small area. I'm going to do a video specifically about Cold Springs soon because I've had lots of questions about that region lately. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks! Dave

I lived in Reno for 20 years before moving to Norcal and watch a lot of videos about reasons to move to Reno but have yet to see mention of the great symphony orchestra and chamber orchestra and opera. Reno has that higher culture in spades, as well.

How far is Burning Man from Reno and does Reno feel the effects of all that mess? That would be one big reason for us not to move there. We've been highly thinking of Reno for retirement.

Burning Man is a drive of more than 3 hours from Reno so it's not really a local thing. But we do see lots of Burning Man attendees in Reno because we're the closest major city to it. But the only thing you see locally really is some interesting clothing choices on people around Labor Day weekend in town and then you realize that it's Burning Man time again. I also saw a youngish couple in the parking lot of Whole Foods this year packing up their car for Burning Man. They were very nice and harmless. And locals know not to fly around Labor Day because the airport is crazy busy, and if you do...you just have to arrive early. But other than that there aren't really negative effects...it's all positive. The financial impact is huge on our region with all the stuff they buy here on their way out of town. So my opinion would be that the positives far away any negatives. Hope that helps! Dave @@donnaw4910

We try to stay away from politics on this channel...but I understand what you're saying. Our region has definitely seen a shift in politics over the past 15 years or so with a large influx of Californians. Not saying if that's good, bad or whatever...but it has certainly changed. Actually, I would like to see new arrivals of ANY political stripe given the right to vote for, say 5 years after arrival. Let them get an understanding of the society here, and why this is better than what they left.

Honestly, if you are thinking of moving to Reno, don't. Our area is being overbuilt with nonluxury luxury apartments. Overpriced homes for which you get very little value for money. The city needs to take care of the streets like they used to. Downtown is a DUMP. Schools are not supported as they should. It is a boisterous city with fireworks for every and any reason known under the sun. Idiots driving around bumping their bass at all times of day and night. The police seem to be very busy as they will always say so when you call for assistance, thus they do not have time to help. So yes, we have enough people living here now.
