All of this is OLD news. Actually Robert showed up on the set for the last episode. It was decided NOT to have security remove him, as it would surely upset the rest of the cast. The Brady Bunch was one of my favorite shows growing up. It dealt with issues and problems most families with kids experience and how those problems get solved. The entire cast worked perfectly together. Romance between cast members is not unusual as they are together most of the time. Florence and Robert were talented actors and made the perfect mom and dad. I was surprised to hear Robert Reed was married to a woman for five years in the early 60's and has a daughter. Although Reed was Gay, it was a time when being Gay was frowned upon and he kept his private life hidden from the public. Many actors Rock Hudson, that were/are Gay is still often hidden due to prejudices and religious beliefs by many. I've enjoyed The Brady Bunch over the years and is still on cable today. Robert Reed was a terrific actor, but he serves as a reminder of the need to stay in your lane. He was a principal actor in a popular sitcom, but he wasn’t - to my limited knowledge - hired as a writer, producer or director for the series. That meant that his views of what the show should be and what constitutes better and worse comedy were unwanted and out of place. This is a life lesson for many of us - staying in our lane can be hard (and damaging on the ego), but it’s a critical part of working effectively.

Not one thing was mentioned in this video that any fan of this show didn’t know. Incidentally, according to Florence Henderson, Robert Reed actually did show up on set for the series final episode, but got into a huge altercation with Sherwood Schwartz over the script and had to be asked to leave the set. When Reed refused, Schwartz had threatened to have security guards remove him, but decided against it because it would’ve negatively affected the kids. Most of this has been known for sometime; I.e. Greg's crush on Florence with her taking him on one date, and Robert Reed's homosexuality. I wouldn't really call them 'Scandals' rather "Did you Knows" or something to that affect. Robert Reed did a great job playing the father. What T.V. show ever existed with the actor/actresses didn't have some spats with the producer (HELLO MASH AT THE 4077!!)
@jackkircher17553 жыл бұрын
1- Mike and Susan didn't "make out". It was just a kiddy crush (puppy love) it meant nothing at all. 2- Florence WAS just innocently humoring Barry by having dinner with him. The tabs had no right to take something innocent and blow it WAY out of proportion! She didn't deserve that. 3- The finale. It was suggested that Reed be escorted forcefully off stage by security. Shwartz said "not in front of those kids.". Robert always hated the part but accepted it. He was unable to find SERIOUS roles to play since the morons stereotyped him so he was forever branded Mike Brady. I am shocked beyond belief that he agreed to do the corny variety hour. He must have been very desperate. He was great in the movies, though. Only Florence appeared on the "Brady Brides". It is interesting that it was Jan who followed her "dad's" footsteps and became an architect. Greg? A doctor? Greg. Became a doctor Marsha became a fashion designer Peter became a business man (and married his beautiful boss). In the Christmas episode, Cindy said, if the idiot won't ask you, as the idiot!" Jan became the architect Bobby became a race car driver until his accident which inspired one if the movies Cindy became a radio announcer. It’s no shocker that Reed was a closet gay it’s common knowledge especially after he died of aids now walking off on the last episode shocking then again I can get his future roles being a total departure from the Brady role. Robert Reed played some mean characters the one of him in Charlie’s Angels playing the manipulative Glen Stanley that’s certainly a good example

Robert Reed's real last name was Braden. For real. He was from Illinois and had a daughter named Karen that had a bit part in one episode. I know because she went to school with me in Wilmette. i saw her on it.

I'm guessing there are a handful more but not many. I've never watched an episode of Downton Abby (or as I like to call it Downtown Abby .)

I always thought there was something off about him. He came out like in the 70s and did some shows where he played gay a little too well! My favorite episode is when Marcia takes a plain girl named Molly and made her pretty!

I've always knew Robert Reed was gay. And I think alot of stand did too. But he was such a great actor that no one cared.

I don't care, either. I just enjoy his performances.

Why did Robert Reed agree to do the show when he hated the scripts?

His manager probably told him to show up for the audition and he probably assumed that the show would not last as long as it did.

I wasn't surprised at all to know he was a closet gay but I was surprised to hear that he quit the season finale that was widely known about his sexuality

He quit the last episode because he thought the plot about Greg's hair turning orange was stupid.

@@harperstacey9604 he wasn't in the Season 4 episode "Goodbye, Alice Hello " either because he thought it was stupid for Alice to quit her job as the Bradys housekeeper because the kids treated her like garbage!

Wow, I knew about some of those things, I didn't know that Susan Oleson & Mike Lookinland dated. I didn't really care. I knew Robert Reed was gay, I didn't really understand why he was not in the last episode. It wasn't the same.
