TLDR: Kensho is a state of awakening to one's true nature as awareness, where all unconscious patterns and motivations drop away, and it is important for facilitators to reflect back this truth and prevent the conditioned mind from appropriating the awakening. 1. 00:00 🔍 Recognizing the eight signs of kensho or samadhi is important for distinguishing full awakening from lesser experiences and preventing the conditioned mind from appropriating the awakening. 1.1 Recognizing the eight signs of kensho or samadhi is important for both those experiencing awakening and facilitators, as it helps to distinguish full awakening from lesser experiences and prevent the conditioned mind from appropriating the awakening. 1.2 Kensho is the realization of one's true nature, which can be temporary or permanent, and can last for seconds or create an opening for minutes, hours, or days. 2. 02:38 🔍 A glimpse of kensho can bring about a profound shift in one's life, leading to a permanent Awakening described as the cessation of the whirlpool of the Mind. 3. 05:06 🧘 Meditation techniques are like polishing a stone tile in hopes of turning it into a mirror, but it will never happen. 4. 06:21 🔍 Awakening from the conditioned mind is essential in meditation, and it's important for teachers to recognize signs of kensho in others. 5. 08:32 🔍 Kensho is recognized by a shift in the sense of "I" and the realization that one's true nature is awareness, always present. 6. 11:17 🧘 Kensho can be recognized by energetic experiences and heightened sensations, leading to a sense of aliveness and authenticity in the individual, resulting in realizing one's true nature through waking, dreaming, and deep sleep. 6.1 Kensho can be recognized by the presence of energetic experiences and heightened sensations, leading to a sense of aliveness and authenticity in the individual. 6.2 Kensho results in realizing one's true nature through waking, dreaming, and deep sleep, with a sense of continuity and unbrokenness beyond the mind and body. 7. 15:03 🌟 Individuals who have experienced kensho show increased creativity, articulateness, and humbleness, along with signs of peace, humility, freedom from ego, and a shift towards serving others. 7.1 Kensho can be recognized by increased creativity, articulateness, and humbleness in individuals who have experienced an Awakening. 7.2 Signs of kensho include peace, humility, freedom from ego, and a shift towards serving others. 8. 18:57 🧘 Kensho is the awakening to the truth of who you are, leading to liberation and enlightenment without the need for further development or purification. 8.1 Kensho is not a state of awe or profundity, but rather a waking up to what we have always been, without an object or merging. 8.2 Awakening is the realization of the truth of who you are, and once you recognize it, you are fully liberated and enlightened, as there is no need for development or purification.

"Freedom from ego" after kensho doesn't mean the ego or personality is absent, only that one no longer is limited to it.

What is remarkable about this video is that you really don't hear anything not even remotely as profound from virtually any other youtuber... It's like finally hearing about your home. Sounds weird worded like that haha I guess, but that's how I felt about it. And this all can be traced back to Siddhartha Gautama. How awesome is that... 😮

I thought the same way when I heard this. There is a reason... "The Tao [Way] that can be told of is not the eternal Tao; The name that can be named is not the eternal name." Of course the character wants a story, there is always a story. It does give the character a sense of validation of course... and it's all grist for the mill. I like Daniel, he resonates and has a nice face.

Thank you. The technique which helped me was listening of silence during a dark retreat. Not listening of a breath or mantra, just listening of a physical silence. Highly recommended.

Great gratitude to you Dan. I now know that I must know. It’s the most important act to experience remembrance in this lifetime to be fully free to play the game. Very excited to be with you and the family next year at an I AM retreat.

Well then folks would do well to get in the presence of many of these non-duality teachers/pointers because many are currently waking in their presence. Don't wait for another lifetime polishing tiles for goodness sake. ❤️

I disagree that one saying "I've had an awakening" after kensho means the vritis have returned. Vritis are not thoughts, but persisting repetitive thoughts.

Does kensho within the tradition you are in involve a cessation experience (eg. a "black out")?
@samadhicenter Жыл бұрын
Kensho is realizing your true nature beyond the mind. The mind changes states (waking, dreaming and deep sleep), but your true nature remains as it is regardless of what state the mind is in. Kensho is not about entering into a trance or blacking out. In the self inquiry that we do, there is a purification process where we create conditions of no escape so that deep unconscious patterns can be made conscious. By bringing them to the surface the mind does become more still, creating the conditions for awakening to happen. There is a flip such that the sense of "I" goes from the conditioned "I" to the unconditioned or unlimited "I". For most people during this process there is a dropping off of mind or cessation that makes awakening more likely, however it isn't blacking out or entering the breathless state (nirodha samapatti), which is a very different state that leads to purification of karma.

I recognized your voice almost immediately from the Samadhi movies! I have a question for you, Daniel, I know and have experienced what you are explaining here. Kenshō is the only term that comes close. It’s a very discerning journey ‘back’. I’m 25 years old and have been wondering if there is a way to study under you? Thank you.

But doesn't the karmic entanglements come also from the collective unconscious? If that is so, how is it ever possible to be purified from the karma that is being carried from all the infinite life forms spirit has taken? Maybe the path is to develop the presence to be non-identified without the hope of a permanent stilling of the mind, no?
@daniel_schmidt Жыл бұрын
Yes, the karma of the individual is not separate from the whole. By awakening our "selves" we awaken the world. There is no end to karma and suffering within the realm of samsara, but upon awakening we realize that we were never bound by karma in the first place.
