Our last beloved cat ROO, she passed away 2 years ago at the age of 17, started meowing at night. It was not the usual meouw, it was deeper. Sometimes she pretended catching mice and carried her catch through the house. This noise I always knew. I found out, she had become deaf and walking through the house, it must have been completely silent for our little girl. " no one there ? I can't hear you? Where are you ? I am lonely! " The minute I heard her, got up, and cuddled her, took her in my bed and all was well. The funny thing , when she saw me coming or felt the vibration of my steps, she stopped immediately and smiled !!!! She could smile, beloved ROO ! I still miss you. You will always be in my heart as all our other moggies. In 1996, I found a long haired white odd eyed kitten in a grocery store parking lot on a cold rainy winter night. The cutest, sweetest, most personable little girl ever. Even people who didn’t like cats liked her. When I left my ex, he told me to take whatever I wanted, but pleaded with me to leave her behind. Of course I didn’t. Thanks! A good reminder that we should neither ignore nor take our furry friends for granted. If I had to choose one interaction with my brown tabby, Louie, it would be quality play. An apartment cat needs action. His ability to twist, turn, and contort his body without coming apart as he chases a feather on a string simply amazes me. Oh, yeah - we like to play the eye blinking game, sort of like communicating in Morse code. Louie is much better at this than I am. She only discovered what laps were a year ago, so now she wants one in the morning before she goes to her cat bed and sleeps. Just one more , it will make your cat extremelly happy, just know that it takes 3 days total for cats to band ( the new cat get absorb the smell on their body so the other stop making a big deal someone else it’s around and they become inseparable. If after 3 days he still not adapting then you return the other to shelter but 99%, your cat will adapt, it’s not he don’t like cat , he was mislabel to know his owner had the heart to abandoned him. This is the truth… So he was depressed and that was a way to show he was not happy. It was blessing you took him home with your, he was suffering so much! It’s lots blessing for your kidness , God bless you and please no more cats after this. Just one more and done. We hve this idea to being more home but it’s serious issues in future ans specially when some get sick needs us frequently, one my cat diabetic and I was able to reverse taking way dry food and mixing water in his moisture food ( pate kind) but big job keep him active and treating natural ways it’s lots work and he was old, he just died feom bing attacked by animal that got him and he new this few months before happened , they know the future somehow ans much more…… they know the way to home if travels for hours by car , they know what will happen to us in next day x etc.. We really don’t enough about cats, my entire life had cats ans I just discover knew thing that shocked me !!! How he new he was going to die? How he was sensitive to prepared the other cats that was attached to him? Ans us? He would hide all day , which was not his reg thing, all I new was his eyes was not open all the way ans all alive but he was the same in being active around us even know he was age 10. Diabetes was big issue but he died because animal attacked him at night , the other cat was shivering that night in bed w me, how he know what was going on outside? After he almost died from loneliness ans the other used to Oreapre him, he was no longer licking him or playing w him by he always taking to him and the other obey him and he stay w me every night in bed, before foe almost 10 years they used to play all night long and scratch the post and run and after all the play they sleep toghwrther etc..the really need orrness like then besides us. They communicate amount themselves thst they can’t wirh us, they groom each other, we can’t do this for them not to mention any tension or sickness in us they absorb it, they really suffer alone , if lots stress or sadness it can really hurt the ans if is two , it’s not us much in just one. Easy for everybody, besides it’s almost samw work feed one cat and feed two, samw work one or two cats, when I travel they not alone, helps hve two in many ways…… I wish you and your cat the best! a very kind and insightful message by you indeed ... my cat got mauled and devoured by local wildlife and I knew something was going to happen for months ... I would wake up at night with a flash lite trying to find where he was because I sneezed something was going to happen to him ... this sense of dread ... then he went missing for 3 days and I came upon his body in my garden with his guts ravaged .... I could feel it coming and it was so hideous to find him and be left with that image. He was too young to be that adventurous outside at night. 6 months later deep sorrow, so I understand what you mean, they know a lot more than we comprehend, they are such magnificent creatures, I have only scratched the surface of appreciating cats even though I have had them for 30 years and my admiration and appreciation continues to grow. @@roquia3702

If Moonshine's shelter won't do this, try another shelter. If the foster doesn't work with Moonshine, you can always return it. Good luck!

I’ve had single cats since 1980. With cat #3 I also got a dog. They were siblings for her 16 years and when she passed I put aside my own grief to comfort Manny and then he helped me. Then Manny passed a year later on my lap at 19 years old. Three months later I got two cats. Brother and sister litter mates. First pair, first non Siamese. They’re three years old and I love them to pieces. They’re always with me watching TV, my boy supervises my cooking, my girl loves my lap and she paws my bedroom door for her night cuddle. A restless sleeper I keep my bedroom door closed. But as soon as I wake up I’m with my two. Great playlist of cat videos.. 🐱 I was hoping there would’ve been at least which deals with myths & misinformation.. Like cats are loners for eg.. as this is just not true & I’ve had both cats with other pets & cats with cats & a dog.. Cats & dogs don’t hate each other. It depends on the personality of each animal, how familiar they are to each other..if they’re strangers & your cat is an indoor/outdoor cat but doesn’t live with a dog it maybe frightened & run away, when encountering a dog, of any type, spontaneously..bc dogs are more boisterous in their natural behaviour & cats are more chilled. They can live together very happily as many cat & dog owners will attest to.. the other myth of cats being loners & how if it’s left alone for long periods of time without any interaction, toys,climbing scratching posts etc & like expressed in these videos, something from your wardrobe they can cuddle up in, between eating/playing & using the litter box… (However, if you’ve provided all of these & your cat is showing disruptive behaviour, scratching other furniture, peeing outside the litter box, or not eating. Over grooming or under grooming, or if you leave a camera & your cat wanders aimlessly or to a certain area of the house & back on repeat. Or over vocalising in your absence These can all be signs of loneliness or detachment stress).. You could try spending less time away from home, or getting a second cat. Or even a house rabbit?! But if your getting a second cat, try to match its age as close to the cat you already own. An older cat will not appreciate a boisterous kitten, for e.g..If your cat is an older cat & there’s changes in his/her behaviour, most importantly hiding. Then there could be something physically wrong & a vet visit might be needed… Sorry my post is long,but I’ve kept multiple animals, over the years, cats being my faves, with & without other pets.. & it’s funny bc male & female cats esp, those which are indoor/outdoor kitties do act differently. But the signs are subtle..Thanks to those of you who read my longer than normal comment🐱 Have a nice day/night, depending on where you are.. #LongLiveCats 🤍☮️

I have a Siberian cat and I used to see him groom himself pretty often but I don’t seem to see him do it much now he also gets tons of mats even though I try to brush him often but he doesn’t like being brushed and sometimes won’t let me. (Btw Siberian cats have very long hair) he also often pees on the bed when he’s pissed about something even though he has been neutered. He didn’t used to do that when we first got him he didn’t do it but we moved house and since then he does it when he gets stressed or angry about something like if we leave him for too long. Can anyone give me any advice on how to help him with that stuff? He also used to play a lot but he now rarely plays with his toys. He is 16 months old now . I was also planning on making him or buying him a cat scratching post tower with hammocks and stuff but don’t have the money at the moment
@SOMA-go3zy Жыл бұрын
Hey! I also have a Siberian - had him for a bit over a year and he's two years old. First of all, it might be time for a visit to the vet to rule out any medical issues. The behavioral issues like peeing in your bed and poor grooming could indicate an issue, though I'm no doctor, but better safe than sorry. Also heavy matting can *really* hurt the skin of a cat, so that needs to be dealt with. If you're not able to pull them apart, you gotta go with a razor. Don't use scissors, skin is very delicate. Easy solution is sedation at the vet and just fix him up. My sib also gets disinterested in toys quite easily and I have to rotate them and come up with new interesting ways to stimulate his need for hunting and cat existence stuff. Try to mimic prey as much as possible, tease your cat, don't just flail the wand around. Be the prey. When I'm tired I tend to go with the latter which isn't very exciting to interact with for an intelligent creature. Jackson Galaxy, though maybe a bit overly praised in the cat community, has some cool videos on play, bonding and interaction. Have you tried stimulating his intelligence with tricks, learning to sit, giving high-fives etc? I also started leash training, which has been quite stimulating for the guy for some odd reason. He doesn't move well in it, but it's exciting because it's a new thing to try out. Maybe a fort out of boxes? Collect some plants and stuff from nature for your cat to sniff out. I'd say as a general rule try to plan for three 15 minutes play sessions a day. Cats tire easily but the energy bounce back up quite quickly. Hope this helps, best of luck to you

@@SOMA-go3zy thanks for the advice. I think he is peeing out of the litter box from stress I looked into things more not long after posting this comment and things add up. Since we moved he started peeing out the litter box and the things I read said cats often pee out the litter box from stress our house now is also a lot smaller than our house before which could also Maybe possibly be why and It also said things that releve stress for cats is spending more time with them and playing with them for a bit everyday which is what I did today he seemed happier today I also gave him more love and attention than usual. I was trying to teach him some tricks earlier actually.😅 so far he has only learned “up”. I also once made him a giant tunnel out of boxes but he never used it. He was actually grooming himself for a while earlier today which he doesn’t do very often. Maybe he was happier today? Hopefully 🤞 He is also a single owned cat which could also be making him lonely. I really want to get him a friend and been wanting to for quite a while but I have to get Siberian cats (Siberian cats are also well recommended for people with cat allergies) cause I’m badly allergic to normal cats but Siberian cats where I am are very expensive and we really struggle for money and can’t afford one at the moment. I think is another reason why he might be bored. We are also out alot so a lot of the time he is left alone

mine likes sleeping inside of a wood tray. Also he does not poop inside but instead he poops outside and does it in such secret that I don't know where he poops at all nor will I try to find it because that is his private time. I don't like disturbing him when he eats or poops and he does the same for me.

When my wife works night shifts, Penny Cat wanders the house crying and i have to get up, find her and pay attention to her. When i was in hospital for 9 months last year, being her favourite monkey, she lost her furry mind. She demanded every cupboard be opened every day to see if o was in the cupboard, including the microwave and oven

Some species (particularly the Asian cats like Siamese and mongrels based on them can be extremely vocal. Cat TV (invest in an old laptop like the Lenovo Yoga that can convert into tablet). Most cats will just watch the screen and even attack it but it's FOR the cat, not for us. And they use a lot less power than a TV. I find that giving the cat a small (but unique treat) when I come in is a great way to assure my little boy that I always come back and always give him this tasty morsel.

Cats are NOT aloof! aim all my years of owning cats none of them are aloof. I will say this. My girl doesn’t much care for strangers while her brother is the greeter. My girl is just shy. But with me we’re very close and I’m close with her brother. They both know my lap is always open for them.

pappilli are also a left over from NAUTURAL cats. THe spines of thier tounge help strip meal from bone. Helps in grooming and stress can cause them to over use there toung to the point of balding. This can be caused by stress, alergies and other factors. Ithey are licking to that level you need to see a vet or .. sadly even get a leash and collar and get them OUTSIDE. Being out doors for some cats is WORLD chjange for them and lets them explore and not feel trapped. Imagine being sick and alone trapped in a small place. Imagine what it feels like for them. Some time the best cure. I seeing and smelling tghe world that they have only seen threw glass.

I would like to disagree with the notion that cats aren't as expressive as dogs. . . . . I'd say they are more expressive, you just have to know cats.

I always ceep a small company of 5 to 7 cats on my balcony. I often adopt abandonned and crying orphans and my cats never feel lonely. The female cats are neutered and my adult male cat escapes during the winter for a couple of weeks, but it returns home to stay for the rest of the year.

The *Iron Law of Cat Ownership* = *One Cat Per Adult in the Household.* BUT The Iron Codicil = *Unless you live alone, then you should get a 2nd cat.* It's not cool to have an indoor solo cat unless you are home a lot of the time. Outdoor is okay I think. They have cat rallies n'stuff.
@stuartpenman6387 Жыл бұрын
This is utter nonsense and contradicts itself several times the cat will tell you it is lonely by simply coming to you, it's common for all breeds, over 35 years of looking after them tells me that, and i have done it in the UK and Latin America,so environment is not in question
@marcdraco2189 Жыл бұрын
Cats also have veronasal (Jacobson's Organ) which is part of how they smell. Humans don't have this because our soft palette is closed. You'll note there's a little slit on the roof of the mouth which is where the air comes in and triggers this extension (I believe) of the olfactory bulb in other mammals.

Cats should be outdoor indoors. Put a collar on with a bell, with name and phone number of owner. All those indoor behaviours will go away. Cats are just happiest outside.

Agree when mine got old they stayed in more. I have a cat door on both my exterior doors and it flaps in and out all day long. My cats have mostly lived to 19, 15, ish. but of course I lost some that never came back but I give them freedom because I would not like to be tied to a room in my house unable to leave. That's just me, but at what price to they have to adjust to never going outside?

@ooohlaa13 Жыл бұрын
but I take this you tube and all other people who speak for cats with a grain of salt ...we just surmise things about them but we don't really know what they mean we just make up stories that seem to make sense but we do not really know if they are ALL loners or if they all would like a companion or lots of other stories we say about them. Don't forget they sleep most of the day. There's a joke about a cat saying Gee Whiz I had too much caffeine yesterday and I was up for 20 minutes, could not sleep!!! A lot of what we say about animal behavior and motivation is just conjecture. We have no way of really knowing, we do the best we can and love them and treasure them and their love for us.
