I read in a local paper of a cat whose person broke a hip outside on a frosty night. The poor lady couldn't make it back to her house and wasn't dressed adequately. Kitty stayed with her all night to keep her warm. I was so touched by the cat's devotion.

Well to be fair the cat didn;t have much of a choice than to stay with her as it was likely too small to reach the front door handle and let itself back into the house. And it's much likely the cat snuggle with the woman to keep itself warm...as a human generates far more body heat than a cat. A human will keep a cat from freezing...not the other way round. On the bright side though...I just saw a unicorn fly by my window

I have type1 diabetes and whenever my blood sugar became really low my cat would come and pester me until I got myself something sweet, at first I didn't pay any attention but he saved my life on several occasions. He was a precious little fluff ball and it broke my heart when he passed.

My cat Rosie who I rescued last year has been my absolute rock. I suffer from mental health problems and when I am having a bad flare up he’s always there gently chirping and trying to cheer me up. I am also physically disabled and whenever I fall over inside my flat he’s there automatically knowing which part of my body I have hurt most and nudges and kisses it. My cat started kneading my right breast. Luckily I was due for an annual visit with my doctor. She had a funny expression on her face when she examined my right breast. So I said what's up? Between you and Twink something must be wrong? And it was. It turned out to be stage 3 breast cancer, fast moving. That was over 10 yrs ago. I had to euthanize Twink 2 yrs ago. She had terminal kidney disease and then the vet found a lump. She was 18 yrs at that time. I had 18 blessed yrs with her and I didn't want her to suffer any more. So if your cat pays attention to something out of the ordinary; you need to pay attention to your cat. LOL

Some workmen came to my condo and one of them was overly friendly. I had a bad feeling about the guy. Anyway, he walks up to my chill dog and goes to pet her, and she growled low and long, making him jump back and leave. That was the only time in nine years that I saw her do that. I told her she was a GOOD GIRL and she got a special treat that night.

Not long ago I felt very ill, had trouble concentrating. Thought, am I having a stroke? Didn't call paramedics. My cat stayed right by me for 8 hours when symptoms stopped. A few weeks later paramedics took me to ER due to high blood pressure. Did have a small stroke, affected my eye sight for a few days. Now I'm okay. Our first cat, a rescue named Zetha, could absolutely see and sense things people couldn't. My mom had recently died of cancer and we had her urn on the mantle. Zetha sat in front of the mantle for TWO DAYS just staring at it! She wasn't obsessed though--she'd break for food only to immediately return to the mantle. She sat at attention as if my mom was talking to her, occasionally chortling in response. We checked the area and couldn't see or hear anything unusual. I got to the point where I 'spoke' to my mom, 'if you're there, I love you" sort of thing. It was probably coincidence, but shortly after I acknowledged my mom, Zetha broke her vigil and came back to her normal routines. Zetha always LOVED my mom, and when she visited, wouldn't leave her alone. Once, she even snuggled into my mom's purse before we went shopping! The problem was my mom had always been severely allergic to cats, so she couldn't directly touch her, but that didn't matter to Zetha. She loved my mom's New York accent and when Zetha heard my mom (even over the phone), she'd meow and behave like she was talking to her, responding to what my mom was saying--it was adorable and spooky. I truly miss them both!

Two years ago I was busy cooking and doing house work. I had placed a kettle on low in order to make bone broth and went down stairs for a minute to throw a load in the washer..ended up cleaning the litter pan, folding a load from the dryer and began cleaning the bath…all of a sudden Lillie, my very shy Bengal went nuts….meowing and running all over…something she had NEVER done…before or since……I couldn’t figure out why until I followed her back up stairs…the entire first floor was full of blinding smoke. Another minute and the entire house would have been in flames. She saved my life and my home.

That story with the gas happened to me once too. My cat woke me up for it in the middle of the night while I was sleeping two stairs up. Same with a smouldering, not yet burning waste bin in my kitchen. In both cases I would never have woken up in time by myself.

Lived in the pacific north west in 2000. My cat acted weird a few days before a big earthquake. A couple years later, moved to the east coast. My cat and a friends cat in another state were acting weird. I jokingly said " maybe we are getting an earthquake ". Well, we did. It wasn't big. But noticeable. Yes, earthquakes do happen on the east coast. 2011 was our latest one . My current cat is weird all the time. But, if she acts or does something that isn't normal for her, I do pay attention. She does hide before a tropical storm hits us. And is a great cuddle buddy when I'm sick.

I think you must be talking about the 5.8 quake in VA in 2011... I was living in DC in a 100+-yr-old townhouse near Capitol Hill with an elderly black lady. The house started shaking, Doris started screaming, and I was thinking 'bomb' (the plane that hit the Pentagon on 9-11 literally bounced me off my futon when that hit ten years before the quake... ) but then looked at the walls and boggled, thinking QUAKE???? IN DC???? When it stopped, ran out of my room, checked on Doris, then ran down to check water lines in the kitchen & basement & the gas line to the stove, while calling Doris' son who lived in the MD suburbs. He made it there in 20 mins flat from Waldorf. I served duty in California at NAS North Island from 11/73 to 1/76... not a single noticeable quake, even though North Island has two faults FLANKING the 'island'. Had one tsunami warning due to a distant storm somewhere but that was a fake-out. Had to live another 35 yrs to survive a 5.8 quake in Washington DC ~3000?miles across the country.

@sarahkragness7138 my son and I were in line at Busch gardens when it hit. We knew what was happening because we lived through a few. And knew it wasn't a ride because of the moment of the light polls and the trees. Not to mention the birds were going nuts. The park shut down every ride. Even the trams were not running. Since we live in Chesapeake, my biggest fear was they were going to close the tunnels. We were not afraid of damage. Because of how small( for us) it was. But someone who never had experienced one, it would have been scary.

My mother's great ant died when I was a child and she got an old chair. So it was brought to our house and our two cats freeked out. They seem to fear it and wouldn't go near it. I sat on it to show there's nothing to fear, but it didn't work. They just sat there and watched by me as if someone else was sitting there. Gratualy the cats started to warm up and finally very carefully jumping on it. We would often find one them laying there as if someone would be stroking them, looking very happy purring and kneeding. It became their favorite place. I think great ant was a cat person and it was her way to say goodbye 😯 This video said that cats warn you if you're in danger. I have experience of this too. It was near Christmas and our cats were opsessed about the cuppord where my mother kept flours and such. They sat infront of it and meowed. I listened and heard what the cats had heard long ago. My mother put a trap in it and we found out there was a mouse in the cuppord 🐁 Another event comes to my mind too, which happened before we started to see each other. My husband was saved by his mother's malecat. It was summer and he was sitting outside in a chair with Hilu. Suddently a raging big dog came through the hedge. It had rabies or so. Hilu bravely defended my husband and arched it back hissing and looking very fierce. The dog had to back off, no bites or anything 😮 I never got to see the heroic cat and sadly it's no longer with us 😪

I was going to school in Cambridge, MA, at the time Hurricane Gloria was going to hit. In my worries over my exams, etc., I forgot. So when I tried to leave the house, I was only able to get halfway down the stairs because my two cats completely stretched out their bodies on adjacent steps. Well, after I pushed past them, they set up the same deal three steps down. Again, I pushed past them and left to go to my car. Dunno why, but my car wouldn't start. I came back into my house, and I'd swear the cats did something akin to wiping off their foreheads. I then remembered Gloria and decided to call the school's snow line. Sure enough school was cancelled because of Gloria.😊. I never heard of cats doing something like that, and my little guys never did it again. So, I can easily imagine their value on board ships!

I have a Bengal cat. On Wednesday, before the hurricane really started, my cat was so agitated. He usually is a quiet guy, but on Wednesday he kept meowing and walking around the house. I fed him, checked his litter box, water fountain, everything was fine but he kept meowing and jumping on furniture, things that he didn’t do before. At night, when the hurricane started, Angel (that’s his name) disappeared. I don’t know where he hid,but I couldn’t find him anywhere in the house until next day. He knew what’s coming 😢😢

My partner had paralytic episodes that would begin while he was sleeping. Our cat would sense when one was beginning and wake him. Sometimes the episodes developed very rapidly and the cat couldn't rouse him, so she'd come and wake me, so I could get his medication and get it into him. This happened three or four times a month over a period of five or six years, so it was no coincidence. We were really bereft when that cat went blind due to a brain tumor and we had to have her put down. It became much more difficult to manage his condition without the cat's help.

My cat lately has been restless and going about the apartment from one place to another and always looking out the windows. We've been having tremors in the area. I haven't noticed anything. Last time a mild tremor hit the grandfather clock went wild with the chimes banging constantly. Yes cats I have had could see ghosts - one was. A White cat that my cat wanted me to see was a cat my sister had that had died many years past. Another was little girl around the age of 5 that had died in the early 1900s. She was attracted to young children in the house - myself, my daughter & my grand daughter. My daughter in laws cat seemed to know when she was around and my daughter In Law also saw her. It was a family house my grand father had bought on a tax sale. It had a lot of spirits residing there. Most were a problem.

I grew up with and had cats. Not once did any of them do anything special, they dont react to ghosts or earthquakes, plus there was one cat who loved to snuggle and sleep with a very abusive person who made life hell for his family. I have seen and heard the same from other cat owners and their cats. So many cats and not one cats are awesome event. In fact, after all the destructive and clumsy behavior I saw from cats, and the fact that nowadays you cant have a cat without paying a vet enough to buy a car, I decided never to have a cat again. I applaud myself every time I see real cats from real people and their owner thinking I would be impressed just by the presence of hairs in my food, litter box remains on the dining table, immediately scratched up new furniture and the smell of cat urine coming off flower pots and floors, the owner has become numb to. Their cat attacking the owner is another thing, people seem to regard as okay, but I can do without it. I and my whole family also survived without having been rescued by a cat. Thank you! Think of the birds dying out which those lovely well-fed cat angels are hunting for fun, will you.

AND (at least some) cats can smell cancer. Our Torty (rescued from the streets of Berlin), called Bonnie, or "atom bomb" rescued my wife´s life by detecting her breast cancer in an early stage. Because of this, my wife was treated early and is now in remission, soon to be declared healed. All thanks to this multicoloured cat called Bonnie (after a b1tchy chearleader character from a Disney TV series). Everything´s possible for a .... cat.

Wow you really don't have a clue and you can't have had any close relationship with an animal. I can point out hundreds of times over 67 years that my cats , dogs and horses have in someway been responsible for me still being alive. But I'll just give you one, 23 years ago I was working with someone who turned to be a neighbour now I got on very well with them never once thought anything bad about them UNTIL one day my cat was sitting on the windowsill growling like a dog at something outside, she wouldn't stop hissing teeth bared, eyes wide with anger, she was doing all this at that person. Turned out that person was totally psychotic and dangerous. So I was wrong but my cat was right.

Emotional empathy is perhaps the most basic form of communication. That is what I wrote about in my post above. Our emotions are not always immediately apparent to us. We get busy with life and details. So while you may well have had no idea cognitively about your neighbor. Chances are good that you were far more uncomfortable around that person than you realized. This is why abuse victims oftentimes stay in clearly abusive environments without ever realizing how bad their situation had become. If this person is as psychotic and dangerous as you say. Then it is also very possible that your cat was subjected to some form of abuse, or witnessed it, outside of your presence. Harming small animals is one of the early warning signs of psychopathy. But that doesn't make them a good judge of character. It just makes them a witness, or a victim, who is just reporting back what they feel. I know, many people want to ascribe this as being something more than simple witnessing, and or mirroring. We tend to view those we love in the best light possible. But that doesn't mean that these projections are accurate. Ask yourself this simple question. How does any mammal, that doesn't have language, understand what another being is feeling? Is it come mystical sixth sense? Is it divined from above? No, it is simply emotional empathy, they understand what is being felt by another by experiencing that same emotion. It allows for the parenting behavior. And is, due to its biological rewards, directly responsible for our species taking the next step and evolving true complex language. Which by the way is the linchpin of technology. So don't tell me I don't have a clue. Because doing so is also a mild form of abuse. I respect your right to disagree with what I've said. But there is no call, whatsoever, to engage in language designed to diminish and malign. I've encountered far too much of that kind of behavior in my life to leave it unchallenged and rejected.

Here it is a saying that the cat will scratch a pole from where the wind will start to blow. One day our cat instead of scratching the pole like she unusually did she instead climbed on top of it and just sat there looking at us. We joked that means it will be no wind, and then we discovered later that there was no wind all that day...
